I am considered an expert in the field of early childhood education with many years' experience as…read morea trainer, writer, consultant, administrator and teacher. Over the years, I have observed and conducted comprehensive, objective observations of over a hundred preschool classrooms. I am also the grandmother of a student who was enrolled in the Peer Inclusion Preschool class at Stanley Elementary School in Tacoma Washington. This school and this class is by far the worst program I have ever encountered. The teacher is unqualified to teach a Peer Inclusion Preschool Class. Certified elementary teachers are required to have Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education training to earn endorsements for their credentials to teach this class. It does not appear the district has provided training of any kind for her. Her teaching methods betray her lack of knowledge about child development, about how young children learn, or the standards for best practice. The way she teaches is a good example of the way preschoolers were taught in 1975. She does not implement the Tacoma School District designated curriculum for preschool. The children do not have access to the books and toys in the classroom. There is almost no communication from school to home. Parents are not allowed to observe in the classroom or to see the curriculum, which is illegal. The classroom is dirty. The children are sick way too often. On at least one occasion, (and presumably more), the children are not given the meal components on the posted menu. On that occasion they were given a single piece of pizza and water (no milk, no fruit, no veggies). The principal is aggressively rude, disrespectful, dishonest and unprofessional. The district was not helpful. Nothing changed. Nobody seemed to care.

Amazing Esthetics Experience with Kendall at Summit Academy!…read moreI had such an incredible experience with Kendall, a student in the Esthetics program at Summit Academy, and I truly can't say enough good things about the service, professionalism, and overall atmosphere. Kendall provided a full lineup of services for me including a facial, back treatment, and brow + lash tint, and everything was done with so much care, confidence, and knowledge. She took her time, explained what she was doing, and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the entire appointment. The experience was not only effective, but also so relaxing--it felt like a true spa day. A huge bonus was that I also had time with another student who is a stylist, and they were able to wash and style my hair before I left. It turned into an all-day self-care experience, and I walked out feeling refreshed, confident, and completely taken care of. What really stood out to me was the level of teacher support and guidance. You can tell the instructors and leadership at Summit Academy are deeply invested in helping their students succeed. The environment is professional, supportive, and focused on delivering excellent client care while teaching real-world skills. This was such a wonderful experience that I've already booked my next appointments for waxing services and microdermabrasion. If you're considering services here, I highly recommend scheduling with Kendall--she is talented, attentive, and absolutely going to be amazing in this industry. Great service, relaxing experience, and an amazing team behind the students. Highly recommend!

(SUMMIT STOP REMOVING MY REVIEW) I'm honestly devastated. I asked only for a trim of my dead ends,…read moreto keep my mid-length, keep my face-framing pieces, and add longer curtain bangs. When she started cutting, I even said she could take a little more of the dead hair off, but to still keep it mid-length. Instead, she kept cutting until my hair turned into a shaggy, choppy mullet -- uneven short layers on top of my head, choppy short bangs, and random pieces missing. I ended up losing around 12 inches of hair, which I never asked for or agreed to. Both women I worked with were very kind, and I truly appreciate that. But someone should have stepped in -- especially the supervisor. People working there were giving me looks like they could tell something was going wrong, and it made me feel sick. It felt like everyone around me could see the disaster unfolding, and no one stepped in to help or correct it. I'm also really bad at confrontation, and I know that's something I need to work on. But by the time I realized just how much she was cutting, it already felt too late to speak up. I don't know anything about hair, so I was really trying to trust the process because she seemed confident. And hair looks different wet vs dry, so I kept doubting myself. I wasn't trying to be difficult -- I truly didn't understand the severity until she finally turned me to the mirror, and by then it was already a choppy mullet/shag. What makes this even worse is that this happened the day after another stylist (who was also nice) left highlight foils in my hair for six hours, which absolutely fried my hair. The first image of my hair -- that's how it looked before all of this. I know now it was damaged, but it still felt silky, soft, and healthy enough that I could run my hands through it. The girl who did my highlights completely fried it, and then instead of repairing it, the next stylist kept cutting shorter and shorter like that was the only answer. I used inspiration photos that still had length, and I even said I wanted to keep mine longer than the inspo. The last photos show what I actually ended up with, and it's honestly horrible. Nothing I asked for -- trim dead ends, keep it mid-length, soft curtain bangs, face framing -- matches the choppy shag/mullet cut I was given. I feel like nothing I said was listened to. And what breaks me the most is that my hair won't grow back by March, which is my birthday and the military ball I'm supposed to attend. It also won't be grown out for my graduation and Engagement photos, which I was really looking forward to. I don't have $4,000 for extensions to fix this. I genuinely don't know what to do, and I'm just so sad. I've never felt this heartbroken over my hair in my life... This has ruined my self confidence badly. For some reason they keep deleting or taking my review down it keeps disappearing which is not okay. I've spent about six months growing it out now and it's so dead and fried that's barely grown. I've done everything in my power to reach out they got back to me but have been ignoring me completely now

We had a horrible experience here. My 2 1/2 year old was seen here for 9 visits (2x a week for…read more30mins) and she never once did speech therapy with him. What she did do was watch from her chair (and talk to me about gardening, her children, and other patients) as he played with her toys. She said she was letting him warm up to her, but that never happened. He is shy, but not that shy. If you play with him, he will do almost anything for you. I suggested many different things but she ignored my requests. My background is actually in Speech Therapy so I feel like I know what my son needs (help making sounds and saying words) and what she did (possible vocabulary exposure?) is not even close to what he needs. We are switching providers. She also gossips about her clients. She talked to me about other parents and their poor parenting styles. My son has a limited amount of words that he can say, but he can point to (identify) almost everything when asked. One day she was alphabetizing cards while he played and I tried to get him involved..."Hey look as these cool cards" He was immediately interested. She said "What's this?" He just stared at her. (duh it isn't a word he can say) she does this repeatedly 5 more times, then tells him. "Well you just don't know anything do you? You are just like this boy I tested the other day, he didn't even know what a banana was. Can you imagine that? His mother has never even given him a banana to eat." Our last session, he was playing with a magnadoodle. He drew 2 suns and said "2 sun" which was a huge thing. I made a big deal about it. She said nothing. Then he went on to point to each sun and say "Mommy sun, Daddy sun" another big deal. She didn't even let me respond before she snatched the board from him, him screaming "No NO No", then she erases his hard work while he cries "daddy sun!" and she says "Now wait a minute, I want to show you something" she tries making a day/night scene and he tries to scribble it out. "You are just a hard headed boy, that's ok until it prevents you from learning" She then tried to tell me she was going to show him day and night. I was in shock as we left. We will never return.
