Friendly and welcoming staff that are VERY HELPFUL. Had an issue this past Saturday with my sink. I took everything apart and finally diagnosed the problem but realized that the previous contractor who did the plumbing did a cut and paste job. Literally threw in a piece from somewhere and was much smaller than the typical 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 piping. Went in needed some keys get duplicated and decided to ask the gentleman inside about the flex tubing. It was confirmed at Acker's, that my thoughts were right, it was a cut and paste job. Putting on, and connecting crap that didn't belong. I wasn't too confident about reinstalling a new pop up assembly but, he told me how to do it and reassured me that I could do it. Didn't catch his name, but I'd like to tell you (if you are reading this) that you were right! I did it and followed everything you said to the "T"...it worked! THANKS AGAIN! In an age of Home Depot's and Lowe's, small hardware stores are slowly dwindling and more difficult to find. Acker never disappoints. They serve a small neighborhood, are in a great location with excellent parking, are really friendly and never act like I'm asking them to move Mount Rushmore with my, sometimes crazy, requests. I live here (not literally of course) Best employees around. Never do I get a "I don't know" when I have a question. Although I'll get bigger supplies like drywall somewhere else - Acker's has everything else and for the same price as a Home Depot or Lowe's. This is the best hardware Store around. They are very helpful. Why get lost at a big store when you can go here (get fast service)and be in and out in no time ! They repair window screens, which is always nice to know. If I need a certain bolt or screw, they will be more then happy to find it for you and sell you only what you need. Lowes or Home Depot is fine for bulk items and if you know "exactly" what you are looking for. read more

Acker's is right in the neighborhood, so it's easy to go to if you need something quickly, and their prices are very good. However, when my fiance and I walked in today, there were two cashiers, one that was checking a customer out, and the other that was busy doing nothing. Neither of them greeted us as we walked in, or asked us if we needed help or what we were looking for. We walked around the whole store looking for a filter and didn't realize that you need to ask the cashier in the front and they go in the back to get it for you. read more

Stopped in today to pick up my order. While I am satisfied with the work, at the same time I am somewhat disappointed. I dropped 2 screens off to be repaired roughly 2 weeks ago. When I dropped them off the girl said it should only take a few days. I called yesterday after 2 weeks to see if they were ready, I hadn't heard from anyone and they were. As I said I went today to pick up. Upon arrival I never feel welcome walking in here. The kids working the counter aren't very friendly, it's quite sad since that's one of the advantages shopping at a small business. My biggest complaint would have to be the price. I had 2 screens repaired and it came to $44.00, really? I was shocked! I really didn't have the time to do it myself but next time I will. That's outrageous! I love that they offer screen repair but I honestly feel ripped off. $44.00 seems like a lot. I will continue to shop here as I like to shop at small businesses and they seem to have the odds and ends that the bigger store don't have. But some things need to change or I will shop elsewhere. 3 stars all day read more

A TRUE VALUE IN ROCKLEDGE! A great neighborhood hardware store. Acker's is a family owned business that takes pride in the neighborhood and will go out of their way to help their customers. Although the store itself is not as large as it once was, it is well stocked. Prices are very competitive with the 'big box' stores but their personal service is the advantage here! Acker's is a member of the Rockledge-Fox Chase Business Association and is located in the Rockledge Plaza Shopping Center at Huntingdon Pk. & Sylvania Ave. in Rockledge, a small Montgomery County borough just across the county line from Philadelphia's Fox Chase community. (Rockledge shares zip code 19046 with Jenkintown). There is plenty of free parking at the front door. Now for Eric D's exquisite use of the English language and his last visit where he was fortunate to "not be helped by a senior citizen with a body odor problem." Was this comment even necessary? I would not consider the folks working at Acker's as senior citizens and I doubt if they have "a body odor problem", but thanks for sharing anyway. Maybe you should visit a 'big box' store next time.
