I used to trust this place. The older guy that used to do repairs was honest and could be trusted. Now there is a younger guy that apparently wont work on older bicycles. I took my Giant mountain bike in to have the shifting looked at. It isn't shifting as well as it used to. I have had the bike 15+ years. It has been a great bike. New guy says the bike is worn out....quoted me over $300 plus labor to make repairs...said it needs brake pads (which I always replace), chain, front crank, rear sprocket, has corroded cables, (the bike is dirty, I ride it) and on and on and on....I guess he assumed I would drop big bucks on one of his new bikes once he convinced me that mine was KAPUT. I took the bike home and mentioned the interaction with a neighbor that is into bikes. Neighbor made a simple adjustment and it is shifting like new... Before I loaded my bike back into my truck, New guy asked me to "donate my bike" Seriously..... read more

In town for work but brought my bike. Stopped by the shop to buy a Tow Whee bungy tow strap and ask about local rides. The shop is very nice and has lots of bikes and accessories. The service was excellent. After a short time there, I had a plan for where to go ride. read more

From the second we walked through the door, the team treated us like family. They listened to exactly what Krista wanted for her trail adventures in the Black Hills, pulled out the perfect Trek model, and spent real time getting the fit spot-on so she feels confident and comfortable right From the beginning. The whole process was smooth, fun, and zero pressure. They answered every question (and there were a lot!), assembled the bike with expert care, tuned it perfectly, and even took it for a quick test spin to make sure everything was dialed in before we loaded it up. Krista has been grinning ear-to-ear on every ride since, and she keeps saying "this is the best bike I've ever owned!" He clearly states what he intends to do, then does exactly that: shows up when he says he will (texting us in advance that he is on the way), evaluates the issues, shares his recommendation and quote, then does the agreed-upon work with surgical precision. His high level of skill and quality results speak for themselves. He provided efficient work at an exceptional value for the cost. Ben installed our two new toilets and repaired related plumbing, replaced a leaking kitchen disposal, repaired under-sink kitchen plumbing to accommodate a new reverse osmosis hot and cold water on-demand system, and diagnosed a few other fixes along the way. We added a simple in-line descaling unit to help reduce the hard water sediment, and noticed results almost immediately. He knew our faulty kitchen faucet head was covered under warranty and called to get a replacement on its way to us. He installed a new water main easy access shut-off valve so we don't have to reach waaay down behind the water heater for an old school dial knob. So helpful! Ben is super clean, organized, professional and personable. He wears booties when entering the home, lays his tools neatly out on his work mat, has a tub to collect anything he removes, and leaves the place far better than he finds it. He also reached out several times to follow up after the appointments, to see that the new installations were working as expected and that we were happy. Ben at SoDak is the only person we will call for plumbing help. Truly felt like my big brother was taking care of me and our home care needs.

We asked for our money back and were told, "Impossible". We asked for half of it back and were told, "Impossible". We feel this is all a scam. Great bike shop-- I've been going to Acme since 2003, and have bought more bikes and parts here than I care to admit. The top-notch mechanics have always been able to keep my bikes running. Tim and the staff get it-- whether it's road bikes, mountain bikes, fat bikes, weird old bikes, or tandems, they've always been able keep me on the road. And if they don't have a part I need, they can get it in a couple days! Even though I don't live in Rapid City anymore, I still make a point of stopping in several times whenever I'm in town. The only downside is Acme has ruined other bike shops for me-- whenever I have to go to another bike shop for a chain or tube, I always wish I were back at Acme. read more

Great bicycle shop! Tim stocks bikes for every kind of riding you can think of. They carry Kona, Salsa, and Giant bicycles (that I can't think of) and always has a good stock of used/consignment bikes if you want to save a little cash. His staff is extremely easy to connect with and always willing to go the extra mile for their customers. Great service! I talked myself into buying the wrong size bike. The internet is filled people suggesting to upsize. Anyways, that didn't work for me.
