Review Visit: March 11th, 2015 Thankfully they don't sell defective Acme comics.... wait, that sounds familiar. Yep, another Acme Comics post for my blog. This one is fortunately still open and is no way related to the Acme Comics in Normal, IL (which has closed recently). I am bias towards this store as I have been here many times. This store is my first place to scope out used video games. They don't have a large selection of current generation stuff, but they do have a lot of 'retro' games. Think NES, SNES, N64, PS2, Gameboy and the like. Everything is moderately priced, if not sometimes lower/higher than market value. But it's a locally owned business, so I don't mind paying a few more dollars to support a great shop. Since their inventory shifts, there is usually always something new to see when I go in. Lately, I have been getting old GamePro, Nintendo Power, Tips & Tricks magazines for $2 a piece. Talk about a nostalgic trip. They offer a large selection of CDs but they seem to be shying away from those in the more recent years. I believe they also do have vinyl and music dvds as well. I used to purchase a large amount of cds back in the day when they had 4/$10. Still reaping the benefits of that today with a massive music collection. Moving on, this place is a Comic shop first and foremost. While they do sell other things, obviously, I am betting the comic book scene is the bulk of their customers. One of my friends alone has a massive pull list there. I don't know much about comics, but they offer a wall of new arrivals as well as your $0.50 comics. The staff can be a bit inattentive at times, but they never seem bothered when you ask them for help. All in all, a pretty great local shop. read more

this is one of my very favorite place to visit while in East Peoria IL. it brings me back to when I was a kid and hanging in comic stores. it has a older comic smell to the place and there is a plethora of vintage and new comics and toys to choose from. Bob and his crew rock the house read more

Surprisingly this store didn't pop up in my google search when I was searching for comics and toy's, however we happened to drive past on our way to the mall. I have to say this place is such a gem, it is very well organized by category, with plenty of vintage comics, toys, cd's, video games, etc. I was very pleased when I saw the prices, everything was reasonably priced and often was half of what it sells online, example I purchased a Leia action figure that sells on eBay for around $10, and it was $5. I was pleasantly surprised to find such great prices especially given the current market for collectors items. I'll definitely be coming back to grab more items. The man behind the counter was friendly and polite. Overall I highly recommend this store to anyone looking for vintage comics, toys, or collectibles. Don't miss out on this hidden gem. read more

"Service with a smile" is reality in this fantasyland shop with a substantial inventory of comics, toys, videos, vinyl and more. At a time when too many retailers lack creativity and competence, it's a relief to stop in here -- and the prices are good. read more

Love this place! I only come in every couple of weeks, yet the staff knows my name. Everyone that works there is great and is willing to talk and make some great recommendations, but they also let you just do your thing and shop quietly if you prefer. They've got an excellent comic book selection. Even better, their toy selection is phenomenal! I was in this store today and saw a hard-to-find CD behind the counter that I was interested in, so I asked the owner if it was for sale. He said he hadn't had a chance to price it yet, so I asked if he could take a minute to put a price on it. He dismissed me curtly and said no, not today, and went back to socializing with another patron. I'd have gladly paid whatever it would have sold for online, if not a little more for the convenience of getting it in person. I had a handful of CD's I was planning on buying with a store credit, as well as a comic for my son that I was planning on buying with cash; this interaction left a bad taste in my mouth, so I put the CD's back and bought my son his comic using the store credit. As someone who has always frequented this store more for the music than for the comics, it's been disappointing to see their selection diminish over the years, but I've made every effort to support them because I value having these kinds of stores in my area. However, with this kind of customer service, I'll take my business to the internet guilt-free. If you're a brick-and-mortar establishment selling CD's in 2018, it seems like taking care of your repeat customers would be a no-brainer. Thankfully there will be plenty of people on eBay who'll be glad to take my money. read more

I've been here several times on different trips to Peoria & always try to stop in. You can usually find some cool vintage childhood toys for a reasonable price. They also stock lots of vintage board games & used CDs in addition to comics. read more

I go in about once a month to check out DVDs for my film class at ICC. Randy is extremely knowledgeable and gives me great advice. DVDs are $6 each or 6 for $20. Totally worth when you want to really shop rather than click online for hours. read more

1. Things have changed for the better here over the past eight months. They have eased up on their prices a bit and have grown a bit more friendly. 2. (I don't know if you folks over at Acme read my review, but thanks. You've made a real effort and changed for the better.) 3. They're still not actively displaying their Magic: the Gathering singles, but that's the direction they went with the company and I can respect that. read more

This is my kind of store. "Nerd" wares of all kinds, from comics (I don't read as much as I used to) to books, DVDs, vinyl records and video games. Always a fun place to shop since you never know what they might get in. read more

Got here with 15 minutes until close and no problem. Great friendly staff, clean space, and fairly well organized. Overall a fantastic fifteen minutes. I'll come back when I'm in town again. read more

Great comic shop with a friendly and helpful staff. I always stop in when in Peoria. In addition to the great selection of comics that are always in stock, they also carry DVDs, CDs, records, new and vintage toys and lots of great memorabilia. It's always fun to stop in Acme and see what's new. Highly recommended! read more
