I'm in town for work and wanted to dig. The inventory is overflowing in a very good way. Mostly used classic rock but plenty of new releases, color variants, and even past RSD releases. And it's 3 rooms stocked with tempting items. The kicker is there are dozens of boxes packed with records "not ready" to sell. And the owner, Craig, told me there are 1000s more in the back rooms that still need to be priced and graded. Craig is really friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I love this record store- it may seem small but it's full of old music treasures !! I've been going there since I was a teenager- I dont recommend driving there in a down pour of rain, because I wrecked my truck leaving there- after I scored a vintage Weird Scenes Inside the Goldmine copy of the doors! Still intact- though my truck was totaled. lol.... Or if you do go in the rain - maybe pay attention to the road and yeah. Also they ship!! Which is awesome since I don't live in the state anymore!! Wow, I'm absolutely flabbergasted! I just called this music store to ask a couple questions about selling my old cds and vinyl records. Once someone answered I never heard a "hello" or any type of greeting....seemed to be a bad connection, then I finally heard someone speaking. I then said: "hello, how are you today? I had a couple questions for you." The extremely RUDE man impatiently demanded: "GET TO THE POINT!" I was beside myself. Never in my 48 years of living have I ever encountered a business that would treat a potential customer with such disdain. Why have a business if you don't want customers??? YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF!!! read more

I have drove by Younger than Yesterday many, many times. It is located in a small strip mall on University Street. I finally got to go in! It has the smell of incense that's not overwhelming, but definitely noticeable. In the front, they have record players and different odds and ends. To the right they have more a bargain bin. On top of the counter they have an assortment of 45's. All of their records are in plastic sleeves to protect them from normal wear and tear. Their selection is older. They do have some newer albums, but they are mixed in the older ones. The pricing is a little higher than Amazon/online stores. I wouldn't mind paying the price, but some of them are used. The price of the used records are a little high. I will certainly be making another trip. You could definitely spend a lot of time in this shop. read more

Quick stop in Peoria on a weekend trip. Huge selection in a somewhat small space that could be overwhelming at first. I took a stroll around the shop at first just exploring, then began to dig. Impressed with the organization, alphabetical, with "popular" artists segregated, then mixed records in their own space. All records priced with handwritten tag or color coded sticker. If you're looking for a specific artist, find their section, or if not flip through the mixed sections. Only grabbed two records this trip, but will definitely return! read more

So, for anyone not familiar : Record Store day was 04/21/12. It's a day for bands to release limited edition vinyls and to get people into their stores. It's an opportunity to get people back into the vinyl game, score some good merch from their favorite bands, and discover some new music. Please see the following thread and judge for yourself : http://forums.pearljam.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=188093 How, in good conscience, can a record store owner MARK UP the limited edition Eddie Vedder vinyls to $35.00 (supposed to be under $15.00), and then dare to tell people he's going to put the rest on eBay? Especially when it's supposed to be something unique and special to his store. The cashiers are supposed to limit the purchases to each buyer to one each - to avoid this exact sort of thing. Someone needs to pull this dude's RSD card. Why even let a store owner participate in this day, when he's just going to take the stuff to make more money off of it, or sell it for 3x the value on eBay? It completely defeats the purpose of participating in something like this. Next time we are in Peoria I will go out of my way to go to the OTHER record store in town. read more

I love shopping small and make a point to whenever I can. One of the typical benefits of shopping small is the kindness and genuine customer service. This store, however, lacks all those charms. My Husband bought me some records for Christmas. When I opened them on Christmas morning, we discovered RAT FECES in the dust covers of two out of three records. I cleaned the covers, but decided after a few hours that I didn't want to keep them in the house. So, I went to return them. When I went in, I was called "little girl" (I am a full grown woman) and then called a liar by the owner. In all his 40 years doing business, he'd never before seen this, so I MUST have been lying. Yea, I've also never opened a gift on Christmas morning with a side order of Hantavirus. Rude, demeaning, sexist, fools. Don't shop there. read more

Great store, good selection, and very helpful staff. I can always find what I am looking for when I go in Younger than Yesterday.

Had to chuckle when I saw the other review here before I posted this because I have EXACTLY the same complaint. I had been to this store a few times before and although it's very pricey I did like the store, so much so that I drove all the way there for Record Store Day. I had a few things I was wanting and I found it alright. A 10" record that listed for $9.99 was behind the counter (at 11:00 a.m. ON RSD) with a sign on it that "Our Copy $38" $38 dollars? Our copy? Just a blatant cash grab, basically stealing from people. In recent times the organizers of RSD have made owners sign a pledge not to price gouge people etc. but anyone who would rip off his customers like this doesn't deserve your business or mine. I haven't set foot back in there since, the good news for another store in town and a nearby town is I went there instead and bought some RSD stuff and a HUGE stack of used vinyl. read more

I've been buying used records for more than 30 years, in the past 4 years I've been blessed to have purchased records on both coast and in between during my travels. I would place Younger Than Yesterday in my top ten independent record stores easily. Craig Moore, the owner, is knowledgable and fair and every trip into the store is a musical education for lovers of 60s & 70s psychedelic and blues rock. Craig knows his music and he sells lps at reasonable prices. Love the store and it is always my favorite stop when I'm in the Peoria area. read more
