I find this ACME to be better than the one on Ridge in Manayunk/Roxy. Mainly due to the capacity. My biggest and sole issue with this location is the amount of expired goods I find there. Oikos greek yogurt is almost always past its date, so now I have to dig for a good pack or but another flavor/brand. I also bought some Dole Smoothie Blends to try out. Opened up the pack when I get home just to see that it's best by date is March 2018! I bought this pack in Aug 2018. Management and or even ownership this is horrible. There's never a pleasant experience entering this building, I can be in the checkout line and the body language reads that you're bothering them. More importantly your deli staff is not a welcome! You have a line of 7-8ppl and one staff member who always seem irritated! They walk around very slow pace and look out to the customers waiting. My favorite Acme is City Ave. They always have nice cut fruit selections and they are freshly made. Same with the Sushi, when I get it other markets it doesn't compare to the quality ingredients they use. I also love getting my seafood here as well, it's always fresh although a little pricey. I wandered in here with the thought of picking up a few items. I happened to be in the area and quite frankly I have been hard pressed to find a "great" supermarket since I've moved back to Philly. The ones I have been to so far have ranged from unacceptable to will do in a pinch to just okay. This Acme falls on the unacceptable list as far as I am concerned strictly on cleanliness. Everyone in the store are pretty much nice, I had one encounter with the guy at the seafood section he was really rude. I wis they had a greater variety of vegan options. Absolutely terrible customer service. If I could give a negative star I would. I only go to this Acme because it's close to Honeygrow. I just went to buy a roasted chicken. When I get to the counter the guy behind the counter starts yelling at me asking if I saw the chicken in the bags next to the counter (very rude and must hate his job). I explained that I did but wanted the freshly made chicken in the glass counter (all of the trays in the glass counter were literally filled with chicken). I'm not about to argue with anyone over chicken so I left. I went to the Acme in Mt. Airy and the person there was very helpful and filled my order quickly. I stopped in here on the way home to pick up a few things, and compared to some other Acme stores I've gone to, the layout is pretty easy to navigate, and things are easy to find. I was only going for a few items, so it was a pretty quick trip. My wife loves the fried chicken at Acme, and they often run some pretty great promotions on seafood, especially on their canned crab meat. I work at Lankenau this Acme is a 5 mn drive to the hospital. I come in before work to buy birthday cakes for staff so its about 7:00 to 7:30. First off the deli lady (right next to the bakery) is beyond rude and must hate her job refuses to help. they never have anyone available at the bakery and if you ask anyone to help they tell you "oh sorry no-one for the bakery is here yet" "there suppose to be here but not here" I would figure grabbing a cake out of the display and putting it in the box is not a math project. No customer service skills. Laziness and just unwilling to go the extra step to help a customer. I refuse to go back. Everytime its an issue. My Acme in Bensalem everyone is so pleasant and so willing to go out of their way to help. They should have the staff go back to training in customer service. read more

Went to this market yesterday 9/20/2022 night around 6:30 p.m. went to the seafood aisle and ordered seafood after ordering my seafood I did shopping while the seafood was getting ready came back to pick the seafood up payed for it and went home got all the way home and found out that seafood that I have just ordered was not done half cooked some of the shrimp were cold and pink the crabs weren't done call back down there and spoke to customer service they told me to bring the stuff back I was very unhappy because I just spent 15 minutes getting to the market now I got to ride back to the market to take this seafood back also forgot to add called to see and talk to the guy in the seafood department and he stated to me that he wasn't the one who made my seafood I told him I was there 15 minutes ago it's no way that he could have changed shifts that quick went back to the seafood department he still was in the same seafood department I have bad words with him because I was unhappy I just spent my gas money going down to this market went back to customer service they gave me my money back but I'm still unhappy and need to speak to a supervisor about this guy's actions because if I would have ate the seafood the lawsuit would have been something terrible I will be calling corporate to speak on this matter because they thought it was some kind of joke, I've been going to acme 5 years or more of City line avenue and I still have a market in my area this is crazy to me please address this immediately! read more

Coming from upstate NY where Wegman's is king, I had a real hard time finding a solid grocery store nearby my home in Manayunk. I tried out several chains and hated them all. Finally found this Acme and it has been my regular grocery store for about a year now. I think it's definitely a lot better than the Shoprites/Pathmarks/etc I had tried, but it in no way holds a candle to my beloved Wegman's. I can get just about everything I need at this Acme, except for a few pharmacy type items here and there. I think they have a solid variety of items and especially appreciate the International section, as well as the specialty cheeses, sushi, and hot/cold food bars. It gets the job done, but isn't anything spectacular I guess. Whenever I do go there (on the weekends), it seems like I end up there in the middle of their stocking sessions. I guess I have bad timing. But you would think most people do their shopping on the weekends so you should be stocked up? I'm talking even the meat department, there is almost nothing on the shelves and I don't go at odd hours or anything. I do very much enjoy the cashiers as they are always friendly and helpful. I remember one time I was buying a new grill spatula and even I had noticed it was pretty expensive. When the cashier was ringing it, she was all "WHAT?? Why is this so expensive?? Hold on a minute." And she walks away from the register, goes to the clearance section, and grabs one that's very similar and exactly what I needed for a fraction of the cost! I was super thankful, I didn't even realize they had other spatulas over in that section. Oh and for some reason it seems they're always lacking in shopping carts? This Acme was pretty packed when we stopped in for some grub for my daughter to take back to college. Unfortunately the smell coming from the seafood department seemed to permeate the entire store so that wasn't very pleasant. Otherwise, it was okay. This is just one of those supermarkets you go to because its there. There's absolutely nothing special about it. The prices are so-so, it fits the standard of clean and it carries the basics. I go there when I need something specific or know that there's a good sale going on. I know the lay of the land which makes it easier as well. On the positive, the cashiers are really friendly and nice. On the negative, I've gotten lunch meat from the deli section that has made my husband sick. The produce is okay- pretty much standard price and standard quality. If you are in the area and need a supermarket, its fine. I wouldn't go out of my way to hit this place up. read more

Great afternoon to my Yelp Family!! First of all, I patronize this location for sheer convenience. My go to store is Giant. I was coming home from work and I decided to navigate a different route. My mom wanted several items and since this was on the way home and I did not feel like going to Giant since that was out of my way and area. When I arrived I went to Customer Service to purchase a money order and then I proceeded to roam the aisles. I purchased spring water, Pam cooking spray and chicken drumsticks. Then I went to the Self-check out line and paid for my items. I was waiting for the associate to scan my water so that I would not have to pick up the entire case and put it on the check out screen. The associate, plus other store personnel were busy doing some other transactions and one of them explained that to me. I waited patiently and then the Acme associate came over and I explained about scanning the water. Kiki proceeded to pick up the water. I told her I could have done that, but I explained why I didn't and asked isn't there a self-serve scanner at the register. Kiki said no and I said well Giant does have a self serve scanner. I informed Kiki that I write reviews for Google and Yelp and that I would be reviewing this store. No, I am not at all impressed with this Acme location and I rarely come here only for sheer convenience as I have already expressed earlier in the review. I actually cancelled my Instacart membership because the amount of orders I was receiving from this location with expired food (meat, milk, bread.) Out of convenience, I decided to put in another order today for delivery and low and behold the meat is expired as of today, the milk is fine, but the bread was expired 2 days ago. How is this place still in business? I reached out to a manager months back to complain and he claimed that it shouldn't be happening and tried to place the blame on the bread company that stocks their shelves but in the end, these are products on YOUR SHELVES! You are responsible for what you allow to stay on your shelves as much as the bread company since people are buying from you. He then agreed and made it seem like it wouldn't be happening again, even claiming he'd go check the shelves and pull stuff off himself. Months later --- same old same. I'm disgusted by this place continuing to operate their business in this type of manner. I'd recommend going somewhere that actually sells fresh food. read more

Can you find your standard run-of-the-mill Grocery store items here? Yes. However,in general, variety& quality of selection are quite poor and still quite expensive. For example: came today for soup ingredients- left without them because quality of the kale available in produce was awful and couldn't find turkey sausage. And Corporate, if you're reading this: you need a SERIOUS overhaul on your customer service training! These cashiers are miserable and thus your customers leave the store feeling miserable. I have been living in the area for about 2 years now, and try to avoid this market as much as possible. I won't add the word "super" to the market part because the store doesn't deserve the title. This is my closest supermarket (so my default go-to.) I can USUALLY find what I need. Often, they can be totally out of some really normal stuff like roasting chickens. Their meats are usually really good, and especially if you go to the counter instead of the bulk case, you can get special cuts (like thick cut steaks. Produce is usually fresh and they have a pretty good selection. . As this location caters to both the Main Line and West Philly, you can find both chicken schmaltz and chitlins. The staff is very friendly, proactively ask if they can help you find stuff if you look lost. If there is a butcher on duty, they will special order things for you, etc. I miss the old Genuardis in Wynnewood, but since they were bought and became a Safeway and eventually a Giant, the City Line Acme fills the bill. I still like to go to Trader Joe's, farmer's markets and Whole Foods for specialty items. read more

I've been to numerous Acme Markets and this particular one is fairly tight inside. It has most, if not all, of what you are looking for when you go grocery shopping. The one issue is parking. Since it's located in a shopping plaza with honeygrow, Qdoba, Corner Bakery, Five Guys and a few other eateries and other shopping options, parking gets to be challenging. I recommend coming during "off peak" times, like anytime before lunch, later at night or that period of the day before rush hour. read more

The management of this acme is completely dishonest--the fair market price for boneless chicken breast in the region is around $3.50/lb. (National average is $3.40/lb). When acme wants to get rid of excess stock (like today), they have a "sale" where they sell bonelesso breast packs "buy 1, get 1 free" but mark the price up to $6.99/lb! So if you want to buy boneless chicken breast at a fair price, you have to pbuy twice the chicken--currently there are no packs less than 2lbs, which means you buy a minimum of 4lbs of chicken to get a reasonable price! restroom in store for customer use was absolutely horrifying. Board of health would close down the entire grocery store if they stepped foot in there. Dont usually use public facilities, but as an RN , I would not recommend anyone to use the bathroom there for fear of contracting an infection of sorts. Somehow about $20 worth of groceries I purchased was left behind at the store. I went away for a few days and noticed I didn't have them when I went to eat them. Prepared for a fight I called the store. I was pleasantly surprised to find a log is kept of items left behind. I was able to tell them what I was missing which they confirmed. I went to the store picked up the same items and was able to leave with no rigmarole. Thank you for saving me another hassle! read more

This supermarket is okay. My biggest problem is that deli meat goes bad really quickly (less than a week). Most fruits whether on sale or not do not much have flavors. I would never guys apples from there. Vegetable produce is decent, but I often notice that it's hit or miss. read more

Pretty typical grocery store that SJU students sometimes call "Blackme". Staff here is generally nice. Never seems too crowded when I'm there. Certainly nothing to scare you away from here, and is a solid option for the area. Nothing special either. read more
