Very surprising, to say the least, that an ACME supermarket, in an affluent town, much like Warren, NJ, would be as deplorable and low class as this location! Plus, the prices are very high across the board, and a lot of products were either short-dated or expired, and the floors looked like they were from 1989. At 8:00 p.m. on a Friday night, the place was like a ghost town, and I went up to the courtesy counter, and this short, pudgy, Caucasian lady, who wasn't very much of a lady, wearing glasses, behind the courtesy counter, was not the least bit friendly, helpful, courteous or accommodating whatsoever. And I was only looking to see how I could sign up for a digital coupon, since we were new customers, and clearly, looking to save money where we can. But you know what? As a result of her ghetto actions, we will never return to this location again. Put that in your pipe and smoke it... And share it with the VP of Albertson's, while you're at it. read more

I rarely write reviews unless the service is horrible or exceptional, and today was the former, just awful. I have been a Loyal ACME customer for many years, but I will NEVER go back here. If you ever need clarification or have to deal with the manager, he treats you like trash. I wanted clarification on their gift card policy, and understand certain procedures are in place to ensure security, but I have been getting gift cards here paying via Apple Pay many-a-time, but only today was told this is not sanctioned, not allowed, even if I can prove I am the card holder with ID (which doesn't make sense additionally because I pay all my groceries there with Apple Pay no issues, and ACME/Albertsons allows you to buy gift cards online with stuff like PayPal) While I would rather pay with Apple Pay because it does not directly give the merchant my credit card and personal info that can be exposed in a security breach (which they originally tried to lie to me about), I was prepared to accept that I needed to abide by this policy, .... .. but, the smug matter-of-fact, I-don't-give-an-F attitude the manager displayed, this is the epitome of poor customer service, I have no idea how such a person gets hired in such a customer service role, this is a poor reflection of ACME. The local ShopRite exhibits superior customer service than this, I will divert my shopping money to there. read more

I live locally and I must say I am throughly impressed how Acme in Warren, NJ has handled themselves through this coronavirus epidemic! I have read mixed reviews on this store, but the true test of a good store is how they and their staff handle themselves through a crisis! Especially, one like we have never seen or had before. I didn't want to go far because of the lockdown. I have gone into this Acme at least 12xs,. The staff has been nothing but very nice and caring. We are all stressed out, and a bit sensitive at this time. Finding a store where I could get 99% of all the products I normally use was a blessing. I was able to find bread flour when every other store including online was completely sold out. I was able to get cases of water, paper products, and cleaning supplies too, except Lysol spray. That's why I wrote 99%. This Acme took the precautions early on and started rationing their supplies so that everyone could get what they needed and it was fair. After talking with many of the staff members I found out they come in one hour prior to opening so that they can clean and wipe everything down. They provided early shopping services for anyone with a compromised immune system and for seniors to shop and not have to be around a lot of people..They even gave out masks to the seniors who didn't have any. Every time I came in to shop there was never more then 15-20 people in the entire store. I only had one person in front of me on checkout. Acme also took the necessary steps to put up lucite protective shields weeks ago, so their help and anyone shopping would have some type of protection from each other while checking out. I called on the phone several times to find out if Acme had certain products in stock because I was on crutches after having knee surgery and I didn't want to make any unnecessary trips if they were sold out of a particular item. All of the staff was so kind especially Teresa, Keith, Jonathan, Johnny, Pete, Ernie, Chris, Brandon, and Connie. They really have been nothing but calm, cool, and collected. When I called they would put me on hold for only 2-3 minutes and go check availability. Once they were sold out of a product and I called three other ShopRites in the area, they were all so nasty! One wouldn't check, one said she was sold out without checking and hung up, and the third store put me on hold for an hour and never came back until I hung up.Not a good way to do business. Acme has done a terrific job of keeping their shelves stocked, and treating all of us customers with patience and care. Sometimes customers would yell at the staff and the staff was still very kind and friendly. If Acme was sold out of things, they would tell you when it would be back in stock like the next day or two days. It was really helpful in trying to prepare. On the weekends they still have the five dollar a dozen bagels. This time though they had them in a bag, with an assortment made up. All you had to do was grab a bag.The bagels are really good and fresh. The fish department is also very good, they always have some kind of special. I have been playing monopoly and have gotten a $25 gift card. I also signed up for their rewards program and have qualified for so many free items. This experience has really changed my view about this Acme. All of the staff work very hard to make your shopping experience a pleasant one. I am now a loyal shopper. read more

This was my first time stopping by here as I was in the area and just needed to pick up one thing I needed to make dinner. The only other Acme I've been in is Middlesex and I can say this location is much better. It seems cleaner and better organized. Now on the other hand it pretty much has the same limited selections as compared to ShopRite where I normally shop and also most things were priced a little higher. I mentioned this place somewhat snottily in a review I wrote recently about the ShopRite in Branchburg. This was after an encounter I had with a robotic checkout person in this particular Acme, who said not one word to me as she rang up my groceries and bagged them and took my money. I'm not hyper-sensitive, but that experience really rubbed me the wrong way. The ShopRite, in comparison, has uniformly friendly, polite checkout people. But as I thought about it more, I recognized that this probably wasn't very fair. The ShopRite, in terms of its cashiers, is a rarity, and such a comparison really isn't warranted. Most businesses that are service oriented have some people who are friendly, helpful and upbeat; some who aren't; a few who are excellent; a few who are horrible (those horrible few hopefully quickly find other jobs more suited to their temperaments). That's the nature of life and commerce, I think. And so it is here. One clerk I encountered here recently was very friendly and pleasant, even charming. Another time, another one mumbled something at me that I think was supposed to be a greeting of sorts and then proceeded to her work of ringing my groceries up and bagging them in silence. I was ok with it; at least I got a mumble. On still another occasion, the clerk (male this time) was pleasant and talkative. I wasn't really in the mood for conversation, but I'll definitely take that approach over the "Night of the Living Dead" treatment. In other words, like most places, the style and quality of service can vary. I was put out on that one particular checkout experience where I dealt with the Acme robot, but for the most part, the clerks here are pretty good. And...I get it...I'm here to shop, not make friends. I've been coming here more often lately, appreciating it more than I used to. The prices are a little high for me, but this place has the advantage of being open until 11pm. Since I work late, that's a definite selling point. If I want to pick up something quick before I go home, I can. Reminds me of those bygone days when Pathmark was open 24 by 7. You could come in at 1am or sometime in the pre-dawn hours to do your shopping, and you could do it in relative peace, encountering only a few fellow vampiric types stumbling about with their carts. Those days (and those Pathmarks; I should also mention I'm not sure they were all open 24 by 7) are long gone, but the "open until 11" (except for Saturdays, when they close at 10pm) at this particular Acme is a distinct point in its favor. It has a very large fresh fruit/vegetable section. It even has a fresh fish section. I only worked up the courage to try it once, but it wasn't bad at all, and may merit more visits on my part (I like my fresh fish). The cakes and pies in the bakery section aren't all that great, in my opinion, but the muffins are superb, particularly the peach muffins. Very moist and flavorful. And they even have some discount DVDs for sale (although 99% of them are titles I'm not interested in). So this place has become very convenient for me. There's a Wells Fargo ATM nearby if I need some quick cash, and the hours work for me in ways that the hours in other area stores don't. Which means I've gone from being a very occasional shopper here to a near regular. If it's 10pm and you need a loaf of bread, or some ham and cheese, or a jar of pickles...this is the place to go. I went on a Sunday around 6 and the place looked like it has been ransacked. There were no eggs or frozen vegetables and flies were swarming the produce. I spent 10 minutes scanning every item in my $250 cart where the same amount of goods at ShopRite would likely be $185. The app provided only one coupon. What a waste of time and money. read more

A lot has been upgraded in the Acme since King's closed it's doors. . Acme's parent company purchased some of the King's locations, one of which was in Warren Township. Newer display cases have been moved over from the closed King's store. Floors have been upgraded. Product selection and quality has been also been upgraded. Getting better all of the time! read more

The 5 Star rating today is primarily due to the support given to me in resolving my confusion in the Floral Department. SHARON was first to ask to help me in the right selection and also searched for the proper vase for fit of the flower stems. She quickly searched stock and returned with the perfect vase and made sure the card I wanted was placed on the bouquet. And all the time was polite, cheerful, and treated me like a very important customer. Thank you, Sharon. I have been shopping at this store (before it was Acme) for five years and was pleased to see that some of the employees remained after the name change. Especially at the front desk!
