Acorn is the best quality care for pregnancy and birth. My insurance would not cover birth center or home birth and Cristi worked with me beyond the norm. For that I am forever grateful. Her way of making mothers feel valued and cared for is unprecedented and this comes from someone working in the medical field for 13+ years. I had a redemptive second birth at home, with an amazing team (go Annie and Hannah!!). They made my three year old feel special and involved and even captured heartmelting photos of my toddler helping me during the water birth. Annie is an exceptional midwife -- she knew what to do and when and kept me progressing and comfortable, even though this is the hardest thing a woman will ever do. Thank you Acorn; our experience with you all has been monumental from the very beginning. They spend so much time at prénatals, answering questions and getting to know you and your family. They put my mind at ease when I had concerns or worries; most of mine were unnecessary but that did not matter. We love Acorn, and everyone who works here. Birth is hard, and they make it better.

6 years later, I was lucky enough to experience another wonderful homebirth. This time acorn birth center moved to a beautiful new location, and I had Cristi and Hanna as part of my team. My care was great from start to finish, I never felt rushed, and I always felt cared for. My 2 kids were always welcome at every appointment. Cristi was always available for all of my questions and I loved that every decision was my own. They were quick to respond , and arrive when labor started. I love that you have the option to have a very hands off experience, or they will be as hands on as you want. Hanna and my husband helped comfort me through labor, and after a short, intense labor, my beautiful baby boy was born encaul in the water at home with his siblings there, eager to meet him. Postpartum care was amazing as well. I will miss prenatal and postpartum visits, they felt like family.

STILL AMAZING!! Just wanted to update some photos. ACBWC taught me to always trust my body. To this day, I can't hold back tears when I tell others of my experience. I feel like I've gained a safe haven, confidants, and a place I can safely recommend to any expectant mothers I come across. If the rest of the world treated pregnancy, birth, and postpartum as Acorn Community Birth & Wellness Center, women wouldn't be afraid anymore.

Love the atmosphere and the midwives are very informative, prepared and make you feel welcome and comfortable.

At 5 months, in July, my family found Acorn on the recommendation of a close friend - a complete God send. We were met in the warm center with a lot of compassion, understanding and knowledge! I found that they had amazing birth classes like the Birth Warrior Class, Rooted in Love Childbirth Education courses, Breastfeeding Support Groups and many more! There is beautiful art everywhere in the clinic, each piece coupled with a wonderful story and wow, the midwives and assistant team members are diverse, emotionally and culturally competent and wildly informative. On top of all that, they take Medi-Cal insurance! This became home for the rest of my gestation. My prenatal checks were never rushed, I got great handouts and information to take home. The information I got from midwives Cristi, Michelle and a midwives' assistant Angie, who saw me regularly, was above and beyond what I got from my regular clinic. They never once scared me into a decision, but instead empowered me with knowledge and the tools I needed to have a successful, natural birth at home. We took the Rooted in Love Childbirth education class got great stories from Ginger and her daughter - assistant, Sammie and learned a tremendous amount. When the days started to come in close to birth day, Cristi addressed our every question, spent extra time visiting our home, educating us and preparing us for the journey ahead. Cristi and Angie showed up in great timing and guided us through our water birth effortlessly. In conclusion, Acorn is more than just a birth center, it's a community space for people entering their birth experience, their parties and their families. It's a place to be heard, to learn, and to create wonderful memories. Acorn serves all - with dignity, respect, and LOVE. Deepest thanks from our family, Mikaela, Jim and Marten Javier.

It's been almost 10 months since I delivered at Acorn. The whole experience was great. From my prenatal visits to the delivery and postnatal care, the team was phenomenal. They answered my million questions without frustration and were always so kind and compassionate. Shaunnti, Kelly, and Irene were my birth team and I am so beyond grateful to them. Kelly saw me the most through my pregnancy and always made me feel good after my visits. She reassured me or gave me advice on things to help me feel better. Shaunnti is the best phlebotomist! I never felt the needle sticks, which never happens to me. Cristi helped me figure out my insurance and I even got refunded when my insurance ended up paying for part of my birth even though my insurance initially said they wouldn't cover any of it. Annie does the best body work. I had terrible pelvic pain and developed stretch marks on my lower abdomen a week or so before I had my baby. She helped stretch out the ligaments that likely were causing some of the discomfort. All around my experience was amazing! Highly recommend anyone wanting a natural out of hospital birth. I plan to take my little girl back to say hello some time soon. Those ladies feel like family.

The most amazing experience I have ever had in my life! My husband & I had our baby at Acorn 2 months ago & I LOVE telling everyone how beautiful it was. Our midwives were Cristi & Kelly but every midwife I had an encounter with, was so educated, kind & truly enjoyed attending to my prenatal needs! I cannot say enough positive things about Cristi & Kelly. I came to Acorn half way through my pregnancy just knowing I wanted a different experience this time around. Cristi gave us our tour & immediately after we left, my husband & I both decided we would ask her to be our midwife. From the beginning she was so warm & welcoming!!!! Kelly didn't even know me (saw me once for about 10 minutes) & I had some varicose veins issues that she remembered & she checked in with me a couple weeks later because she overheard me explaining my issues ! She's also so calm & I knew I needed that in my birth space. Let me tell you, both women really pulled through for us during our entire experience. Poor Kelly, being pregnant herself, was sick & I would've never known because she was still SO attentive! They listened, validated & witnessed my struggles during birth & were my biggest cheerleaders. There was a moment I said I couldn't do it & immediately they told me "yes you can, you are doing it!!" Sure enough, right after, our baby was born! Her cord was wrapped around her neck following her birth & not once did I feel fear. They so calmly communicated to each other & gently removed it. They let us completely run our own show. Everything we wanted, they encouraged. I'll never forget the experience they gave us. They also come to your home for all of your postpartum visits ! Plus do newborn appointments! They are still seeing our baby now because I just never want our journey with them to end. We love Acorn & all of the badass women there!

Such a lovely experience all around with Acorn. I found them on Facebook and was able to message with questions as well as text to communicate (which I love). When I was able to come in for my first visit- my husband and I fell in love with the place. The atmosphere was SO homey and welcoming and mellow! All of the ladies there are SO warm and friendly. No one ever made me feel awkward or looked at me funny if I had a weird question. They are great!! I choose Erin as my main midwife because we just clicked immediately! She is very knowledgeable and caring, like the rest of the team. I truly felt like they wanted me to have the best pregnancy possible, the best birthing experience possible and the best aftercare ! I wish I had my other 2 children here !!! I would HIGHLY recommend Acorn! Definitely won't regret it!! Thank you ladies again for such a beautiful experience. I'll never forget it. I feel like I was able to redeem my previous birthing experiences in a hospital by coming here and giving birth to my last child. So happy :):):)

We decided that with our for sure LAST baby we would do things differently. After having 2 natural…read more(no meds) hospital births that were not pleasant experiences by any means, I wanted to have a home water birth. Steven made sure I had just that. I did the research and found the absolute BEST midwife I could have ever prayed for. From the very beginning of our journey Christina Sanders made us feel like family. She included everyone in all of the appts, let's just say my 3 year old, Stori, is now a midwife in training. Everything about her and the world of midwifery, let us know we made the perfect decision. It was a very special intimate experience. Though natural labor is excruciatingly painful, being in my own space with my husband and daughter Ahmyiah by my side, along with Christina and Kristen Rud (Midwife in training) it was so peaceful and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. There was less stress, less anxiety, no stupid intake questions that had been answered 100000x before, nobody making you feel incompetent, nobody barking orders. Instead, It was perfect lighting, soothing warm water, Christina reassuring me that I'm doing great and to simply let my body do what it is naturally designed to do, all while surrounded by nothing but love! It's hard to fully describe, just know that it exceeded all of my expectations and I am beyond grateful that I had the opportunity to take this journey with so much love. The postpartum care was unexpected and soooo needed. 1 Day after they came back to check on both of us, bringing me tea and food to assist in the recovery process. Tinctures and herbs to soothe discomfort. 1 week they were back checking on us and providing me with more yummy treats. They even prepared the most beautiful floral/herbal bath for Xo and I to share. It was magical. The GIFTS they made for us OMG if I was a cryer Id have been balling...A couple weeks later I had some weird wacky things going on with my skin, most likely had to do with my liver needing to heal. Christina jumped right in to help me find awesome natural soap for the weird rash and she gave me another tea to help my liver recover, it worked! 6 weeks postpartum we went back to the office for our final check. It was bittersweet, knowing our prenatal journey was over and that would be the last time I'd sit in that office as a pregnant mama. As of today, Xo is 5 months old. We still keep in contact, and always plan to. Christina and Kristen are two beautiful women with hearts of gold that we never knew we needed!!!

Her passion for what she does shows, and she'll care for your baby like her own. This was my second birth, and when compared to the coldness and unfamiliarity of the hospital, I can't imagine giving birth any other way! I also want to mention that Amanda is prepared for hiccups. My baby got stuck in-between my legs, and Amanda was calm when helping baby and I get through it. She managed to untangle the cord, encourage me to continue pushing, and grab the resuscitator incase baby needed it. Amanda works calmly, swiftly, and effectively. Also, I'm convinced my baby already knew who she was! Baby could recognize her voice, and Amanda's loving energy because she was/is as calm in Amanda's arms as she is in mine. If we were to have another baby, we wouldn't hesitate to call her. She's worth every penny and much more. She is such a genuine person. I did a little research and spoke to 3 midwives. However there is something special about Amanda and choosing her as my midwife was a no brainer. For one, she offered to have our first meeting at my house. Second, upon meeting her, she had such a calm demeanor and soothing voice that my worries and anxiety regarding a home birth went away. From then on my interactions with Amanda became more meaningful. I always brought my first son to all my appts and Amanda was so sweet at letting him play with her stethoscope. During these appointments she talks to your baby as she is checking baby's heartbeat. She looks at your health holistically, and even allowed to me to talk about stress and worries that I was experiencing at the time. I feel this was so important for my overall pregnancy health. The day I have birth I was already experiencing intermittent labor and my water was leaking out. Amanda came over and offered different options on how to get my labor to progress, and was so patient with me as I was able to dictate what I wanted to do and not do. She gave me the space to listen to my own body. She was incredibly patient and calm and guided my husband and I every step of the way. And let me remind you, her voice is so soft and soothing that when you are in the thick of labor contractions, she is all you will want to hear. Several hours later, my son was born and Amanda was by my side! Amanda is truly a caring person and it is evident that she loves what she does. Her energy is so warm and inviting. When my baby met her, he just melted into her, as if he knew her. This entire experience was nothing short of incredible for me, and I really have Amanda to thank for that. I encourage anyone looking for a midwife to consider Amanda.

My wife and I expressed concerns about her pelvis being too narrow but she brushed it off and we believed her. A mistake that nearly ended my new family. She would say that something was fine and then would say that the same thing was concerning. We chalked it up to her being a bit eccentric. On top of that, we only got reimbursed a little over $100 from insurance and we had Anthem PPO at the time. Not necessarily her fault but it added to the negative experience and expenses. My wife's labor ended up being 24hrs at home and 36hrs total which ended in a C-Section. She was little to no help and it was Sally that recommended we go to the hospital. Plug-in for Rancho Springs, amazing hospital and staff. It's not what we wanted but definitely what we needed and more. We didn't want a hospital birth but they have the best ward bar none. Only hospital me and my wife would go to for this. From our conversations with other people that used her in the past, I think she was once a great midwife but from our experience, I would highly discourage anyone from using her services. If you use her, you'll be playing roulette with you and your child's life.

During our meetings we were constantly recommended to seek outside opinions from my OBGYN and medical facilities, causing us to spend thousands more during my pregnancy and birth on top of her fee for services ($6000). During my birth Anne and her assistants made the environment stressful when I expressed for my birth to be peaceful to my liking. Upon Anne's arrival she said that I was fully dilated at 6am. At 3pm Anne had checked me and told me that she had still felt some of my cervix (I WAS NOT FULLY DILATED). She had complained earlier in the day that her fingers were too short to check properly, so I'm not sure how she has been a midwife and her fingers be too short to check her clients. I was instructed to push while not being fully dilated. Anne appeared impatient and she didn't seem to know what to do to help me progress. After an hour and a half of pushing she recommended transfer to the hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital I was checked and was dilated to AN EIGHT. The hospital determined that my baby was too large to have naturally. During my pregnancy we brought up the size of my baby and Anne would discredit all the ultrasounds and weight estimates that we were given. I had my baby via c-section and was born at 11 pounds 1 ounce, he would never have been born safely naturally. After my hospital stay we returned home to a birth pool fully inflated and still containing the water from my labor, this was after I was told that everything would be cleaned up before our return. A warning to all, a contract is presented and must be signed that states once Anne shows up to your birth/labor there are NO REFUNDS of any sort. Ultimately I would not recommend Anne's services as a midwife. If you are looking for a midwife to trust as your expert and for a safe, comfortable birth, look elsewhere.

I appreciated the personalized care for my wife, our baby and her specific needs They provided incredible support during pregnancy, delivery and postpartum We are forever grateful for this team.
