After 1 live rehearsal, Covid-19 hit and I did not hear from CAA for 1 month, at which time rehearsals went to zoom. As a professional actor myself, much is lost when going from live to zoom, especially with inexperienced 4-8 year old children. When it was clear the date for the show would pass with us still in Quarentine, I asked for a pro-rated refund, as our family is leaving nyc and would not be able to complete the program and do a live performance once the city opened up. Bottom line: I paid for a theatrical production to be performed live in June. An act of God disrupted that. Mimi REPLACED my daughter after I informed her we couldn't pick this up for a future date, and she still would not offer me any sort of refund. I asked if I could sell my child's spot to the new cast members. The answer every time: NO REFUNDS. I don't know if that is laid out on her website- that's my bad if it is, but obviously I did not anticipate a nationwide Quarentine. She did offer zoom acting lessons, but that's not what I spent my money on, and I am extremely disappointed in this lack of customer service and lack of professionalism. Buyer beware.

She knows how to get the best performer out of each child... it's like watching magic. From personal experience this school is extremely controlling and on top of that extremely lazy with academics and neglectful when it comes to actual teaching. The teachers and especially their principal will do whatever they can to intervene in the parents and children's personal lives. On multiple occasions I've seen them force parents to make the decisions, that they want them to make, sometimes these decisions have nothing to do with their kids. If the parents don't comply they will threaten to, and go through with kicking their kid out of the school. Simply because they didn't want to do something in their personal lives which had nothing to do with the school or academics. In April, we moved out of the area and notified hopscotch our child can no longer attend hopscotch and they refused to give us any of our deposit back. Hopscotch indicated even if they fill all their spots with other students they would not give us back any of the deposit. Our child was hospitalized in March 2024 and missed 1 month of school and we were not given any refund either and that was not taken into consideration for giving us back any of the $5,000 deposit. This is a scam and unfair to us are parents, I would never recommend Hopscotch to anybody for this matter unless you like wasting your money

I've attended a couple of their school events and they seem to genuinely care about the well- being of their students. It feels like a well-rounded homeschool curriculum. The extracurricular activities are also incredible. Swim, chess, martial arts, acrobatics, robotics and tennis are offered to all who want to participate. It's a gem with low student to teacher ratios. I knew he was capable of achieving higher grades but he was never challenged. The decision to transfer him to The Beekman School is one of the best investments I could ever have made for his future. Headmaster Higgins and his professional staff welcomed my son and provided the kind of attention only available in small class size settings. The educational staff helped my son realize his true potential and his grades soared. My son actually looked forward to waking up early and going to school because he thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The staff make you feel like family, and although my son graduates this year (with the highest grades of his academic career) I hope to continue the relationship as my daughter hopes to attend as a freshman this September.
