Their own signed contract (Refund and Cancellation Policy, section 2) clearly states that if a student's F-1 visa is denied, all tuition paid will be refunded. That never happened. Instead, for the next several years, I called, emailed, and visited their office in person, only to be told over and over "the manager isn't here." When I finally pushed hard enough, the owner hung up on me on the phone simply because I insisted on my rights. I have years of emails proving I followed up repeatedly, including formal refund requests in 2024, and got nothing but silence. When I posted my first review in Google, they suddenly found the time to write a long, polite-sounding public response, full of claims that don't match what actually happened. They said they emailed me in 2019 asking about postponing the start date, that I "went silent," and that a series of postponements led to an auto-cancellation. None of that happened. We spoke in person, they already knew about the visa denial, and in 2020 Covid hit anyway and everything moved online, so their whole excuse doesn't even hold up. They also brought up that I suggested transferring the deposit to my brother, a friend, and later my wife. It was simply me trying to help out a small business during a hard time, since I never imagined a legitimate school would use a good-faith gesture as an excuse to keep money for a service that was never provided. Zero classes were ever taken. Their own contract guarantees a full refund in this exact situation. A company that ignores your emails for years, avoids you in person, and hangs up on you when you ask for your legal rights, but suddenly has a polished PR response ready the moment their reputation is on the line, tells you everything you need to know. Zero professionalism, zero ethics. Don't be fooled by the friendly tone in their replies. I have the contract, the invoice, and years of emails to back up every word of this.

I signed up for an in-person beginners Spanish class at the Manhattan location. I am someone who has a good base of Spanish under my belt, but for a beginners class this was very difficult. It felt very freeform/loose and I didn't feel we focused on grammar enough to speak in sentences (though we were expected to aloud in class). If you are someone who prefers structure, this is not the class for you. I attended every week until the last two courses because I felt I was not gaining anything, plus two of our classes got rescheduled due to the teacher's illness (not their fault, but I would've rathered a substitute as many of us travelled from BK for the class...) and we never received information about when they would be made up? I sort of feel like it was a waste for me The teacher was super nice and obviously very knowledgeable, but I think this class will not be a good fit for you unless it's just for a hobby or trying to memorize phrases for a vacation. It felt way too informal. If you are seriously trying to learn Spanish, I would not recommend and suggest you take your money elsewhere, though I cannot speak for my classmates or other language courses at this place

Eduardo was a fun and engaging Spanish instructor. Classes were well structured, but didn't feel overly rigid. I felt engaged the whole time. I went into this with intermediate skills in French, which definitely helped. The course is quite fast paced and covers a lot of ground. If you have no experience with a second language you'll definitely need to study harder to keep up. I used Duolingo for a month before the class and it definitely helped get me started with at least some knowledge. I wish there was a little more time for conversation and interaction between students, but I don't see how they could do it unless the class met twice a week. Brooklyn College runs on two different sets of tracks. A set of tracks for the old guard, and a set…read moreof tracks for everybody else. You will quickly notice favoritism, particularly with the registrar. Be sure to pay your tuition in person, the registrar has been known to cancel classes by alleging that your tuition check arrived late. Many Professors at Brooklyn College have agendas to run. In addition to teaching, the typical Professor has a charity to support, a cause to support, or something to whine about. There are more Marxist's on the payroll at BC than anybody can count. BC is also a very competitive place. If you are in a Laboratory do not leave your experiment unattended. Students have been known to sabotage other students work. Do not share your written work with anyone. Plagiarism is a bad habit with the old guard at BC. Once upon a time BC was very well maintained, these days it is falling apart. There are serious issues in Boylan and James hall's. The Library clock has been broken for years. Where the maintenance money is going is a mystery to me. BC had some great Professors once upon a time. They have all retired, and alas some have passed. Hans Trefousse(History), Peter Brancazio(Physics), David Minars(Accounting), Jim Johnson(Speech), and John Blamire(Biology) are all gone. What you are stuck with these days are a bunch of antiquated buffoons that are totally out of touch with reality. Best of luck if you go, you may want to look for a job instead. There are a lot of businesses hiring now that the pandemic is under control. Why wait?
