The Kentwood Players Westchester Playhouse seats about 120. It is very small. The lighting is very…read moredim. Be careful when you're walking down the ramp to get to your seats, especially if you are visually challenged. The parking is not so great located down the road near the railroad tracks which does not accommodate the whole theatre. Nearby parking is reserved for handicapped. The theatre is located in the middle of an industrial area. As far as a playhouse is concerned, it seems to be catered to mostly older people. Production of "Next to Normal" was a bit disappointing. Missing from the forces of instruments was an electric guitar, cello, and xylophone. I know this because I have a copy of the complete score as part of my studies. There were many botched lines and one of the actors messed up on his lyrics. Because of the lack of parking and because of where it is situated, I've given this location a one out of five stars. I will not be coming back due to rude clientele, and uncomfortable seats. There was an older grey haired woman who was constantly fidgeting and shuffling her feet during the performance seated two chairs to my left, with one extra chair separating us. While I was trying to read my program using a dimmed light that did not reflect towards her, she had the nerve to grab my hand telling me to stop. The chairs are not jogged so that your view is obscured my the person directly in front of you. At intermission I switched chairs with my husband. No one has the right to touch anyone else without permission. Save your money by not patronizing this theatre. It isn't worth it.

I have to say that for a first-time show, this was a great experience. I got to meet my favorite grail company, Peak's Woods, in person, and I left with many more dolls in hand, without the waiting time. I also brought home lots of wonderful clothing, and a new doll from a new company, Be With You. Plus, after seeing them in person, I've since added a Migidoll boy to my collection as well. Also, I got to see al those amazing Enchanted Doll eyes and Oscar Doll eyes in person, too--and so many more cool dolls and accessories to list! It was a fantastic cross-cultural experience, to have so many Korean artists, translators, and American artists all in the same place. I helped my friend and fashion designer/author Megann at her booth, so I didn't get to attend all the panels and extra stuff. But I did get to watch an amazing face-up tutorial. Nornan, BnB Doll's owner, made it loo so easy. But I think that $50 per face up is totally worth the price. :) I'd highly recommend attending this show, and I'm so hoping they come again next year. It was so much work for the Korean artists especially--who arrived Wednesday, and many didn't sleep the entire weekend. I sort of wish they'd had a little more time with salesroom time closure, just to make it easier on them! (And maybe on my feet, too.) I'll be bringing my girls (both my daughters are BJD fans) next year as well. While it is technically a doll show, these aren't toys. And they are expensive and fragile. Probably the least expensive one at the show was $150, for a blank doll. That's a pretty expensive item to accidentally break! Adults really need to supervise.

My mom and best friend stayed there for 3 days. We attended the Opening and Closing Dinners, and took advantage of as much as we could. There were so many beautiful artists and designers: Be With You Doll, BNBDOLL, Peaks Wood's, BJD Crobi, Marbled Halls, Bo Bergmann, Nine9Style, Migidoll and so many more!! There were tons of giveaways, raffles and free goodies -- almost everyone went home with goodies!! I actually won a GORGEOUS SD17 boy from BNBDOLL, which I had been falling in love with the whole time we were there. :D I loved the KBJD Show and the event coordinator, Ms. Cholong, was a SUPERB host. The best there can be! I am hoping for another year of the KBJD Show. I would attend in a second if I had the chance.

You meet all types--old and young, black and asian, westside and eastside, rich and poor. I suddenly was reminded by a documentary on LA's Jazz Scene--a documentary on KCET that focused on The Blue Whale in Little Tokyo--that I still have not written a review about The World Stage. The Blue Whale is a bit more upscale and attracts a little yuppie boho crowd. There's some of that at The World Stage. The difference: At The World Stage, the tech bros show up with their barely-hatched dates to show how "woke" they are...and then they're gone after the first half hour. So don't worry if seating seems tight: Brad & Grace are soon to be out-y. There's a real community vibe. Older women who are clearly volunteers greet you, very politely. They're often in shimmering gowns. And you can sense how much they care about the business. They'll offer you food and libations for a small donation. There's also some kind of more substantial fare offered by an independent vendor in the smoking patio. I really like sitting next to some of the oldtimers--some in their sixties and seventies. I'm not that young...am pushing fifty. But I'm at that stage in life when I identify with people who are their for true loves that are not instagrammable. These guys know what they're about. And you can tell they are really thinking about how to spend their entertainment dollars. The World Stage doesn't come super-cheap. And it's not a fancy venue...though it is in the heart of one of the great black neighborhoods--Leimert Park--and it's much cheaper than a few drinks at a yuppie bar with noisy muzak. I go here every few months. Wish there were more venues like this. And if you caught the KCET documentary, which focused entirely on the yuppie Blue Whale: This place is better. And you won't have to pay for parking!

The bathrooms were clean with plenty of stalls and the backstage area was well maintained. The theater itself has lots of seating and is quite comfortable, however, the seating rows are very long with no breaks, so basically if you're sitting in middle seats, you have to walk past so many people on either side of you to try to get out. This would be a nightmare if there was an emergency or anything.

My daughters have been a part of POPS for the past 5 years. They have both performed in my-stage…read moreplays (small stage for those new to acting), then mini-pops (7-11 years on the big stage), and my oldest is now in Rising Stars (ages 12+). Between the two of them we've probably been involved in 20 different POPs productions and our girls have learned so much. Regardless of role, in each production the girls have felt valued, developed wonderful friendships, learned teamwork, and the value of hard work! In addition to the productions, POPS also has great training classes for Acting, Voice, and Dance of which we've tried several. The owners, Julia and Mark Mirkovich, have worked to build an amazing youth theater company where the productions are outstanding. The producers, directors, and teachers Hazel, Ashley, Chloe, Evie, and Marcela work so hard with the kids to teach and support the kids as they learn about theater. If your kids want to try musical theater, POPs is a great place to check out!
