I visited the store around 5:30 PM on 01/10/26 looking for a specific camera accessory for a camera I had purchased elsewhere. From the start, the interaction with the employee, a caucasian lady with curly hair, was unwelcoming and dismissive. When I mentioned I hadn't purchased the camera there, she responded with "oh, that's weird," in a rude and condescending tone. When I asked if they carried the part I needed, she spoke over me and repeated herself in a curt manner, offering little help beyond saying they could order it. When I explained I needed the item within 24 hours, her response was, "oh yeah, that's not gonna happen," again delivered rudely. From the moment I walked in with my young son, the overall tone and customer service were poor. Camera accessories are not inexpensive, but respectful service should be standard regardless of where a purchase was originally made. I will be taking my business elsewhere read more

I own a Nikon P950 that needed a firmware update. I called Nikon tech support and after being on the phone for over 1 1/2 Hrs, and trying multiple things the update did not work. I went into action camera, and they figured out my problem with-in 5 minutes and updated my firmware. The new location is large and a massive selection of items. They have photo classes. We talked to Lily before we went into the store. She was very helpful. Once we got there she walked us through everything we wanted to know. She even introduced us to the Canon rep that we there that day. She was transparent with everything and didn't try to up-sell us where we didn't need it. None of the staff ever talk down to us. We got similar pricing to what is on the internet, but with better service and value. If you have not been to their showroom, you should go. Not only do they have great selection, but there are classes you can take. We happened to be there on a day when another company was buying used equipment. The transaction was seamless. The return policy is trash! Recently moved to a neighboring city and wanted to find a local camera store. I made a purchase not considering or even thinking that they would have a 7 day return policy. I came in on day 10 with an unused item and was told that they would give me store credit only and charge a 15% restocking fee. Ouch!! Makes it extremely hard to support a local camera shop when they have horrible policies like this. I put back the additional items I was going to purchase and kept the one I wanted to return. I cannot say enough positive about my experience with Claire at Action Camera. I am brand new to photography, pulling out a 10 year old camera from storage and trying to take sport pics of my kid. From the first phone call where I inquired about renting a lens to spending close to an hour with me explaining my camera, ideal settings for ideal situations. She never made me feel less than for asking so many questions, she was patient and incredibly knowledgeable as well as willing to teach. Not only for that reason but because they go over and beyond every single time I need something whether it's little or small. I have a busy Ebay store, and suddenly one day my CANON A1100IS pictures wouldn't load in my laptop. I have used and love this camera's performance for years. I contacted Canon for an update on drivers, and they said camera discontinued, no new drivers, old drivers, or updates. WHAT TO DO??? Called Ellie at Action Camera. She said there are no new 'point and shoot' cameras, so bring my laptop and camera in and they would see if they could help. When I got there, she was at lunch, but Alison offered to help. She was fantastic. Explained the camera companies don't make 'point and shoot' cameras anymore, because everyone uses their cell phones for pictures. Makes sense. She figured out a "work around" for loading my existing camera's pictures in my laptop. And she took the time to write it all down for me so I am able to load pictures for my listings in my Ebay store. She offered me an 'open box' camera someone had returned. I was going to make this purchase till she told me that loading the pictures from THIS or any other new camera would NOT be able to be done the simple old way I used to load them. I would still have to use her "work around" to load pictures, which is about 15 steps, compared to 3 the old way. So a new camera wouldn't cure my problem. She understood my reasoning on this thinking. Alison "made my day", as she gave me information so I could continue listing in my Ebay store. She took the time to write it all down for me in very easy to follow directions. Explore the various camera bodies and lenses first hand and build an opinion for yourself! Under new management, Action Camera continues to cater to all my camera needs. They've cleaned out my Nikon D90 and Canon 5D Mark II to new condition, diagnosed my lenses, offered me a wealth of genuine advice, test thousands of dollars worth of equipment, and even thrown in some goodies in my bag after a purchase -all free of charge! The whole staff is extremely helpful and kind, but Remick seems to be the one who I'm always in contact with when I stop by. Big ups to Remick for always being so nice and for continuing to school me on anything that has to do with a camera. Recently I've also noticed their prices have been very competitive to those found on the internet. Some prices even undercut those online shops while also delivering the satisfaction of instant gratification. And with all that Action Camera gives us for free I feel we ought to give back. The staff at Action is fantastic- they have a depth of knowledge about a variety of products and have advised me on the best equipment for multiple projects of mine. Without fail, their advice has been sound and I got the desired results; I could not be happier with their service and expertise! They are very accommodating with available rentals, and even offer classes and videos that have introduced me to new techniques and inspired future projects. COVID: staff wears masks at all times, respects a 6ft distance, and I saw them sanitizing countertops and pens when I was last in which is a small comfort these days. My husband found an old camera we had and realized it had photos on the disk. The camera batteries had leaked inside camera so we couldn't download photos. Action Camera was the closest to us. It's nice to talk to professionals who have been in the field a long time and not some rude teens at Best Buy or something... We bought two cameras here for our office a couple years ago and I called this week with an issue. (I am NOT a photography pro). Pete spent a long time on the phone with me patiently explaining what to do, what buttons to push and why. I was pretty impressed he explained it so well considering he couldn't see the camera or what I was doing. I have been purchasing camera equipment at this shop for over 15 years. Not tons of stuff but at least $10,000 worth over the years. I bought a D200 and lenses back when it came out and I pre-ordered and purchased a D4 when they were released along with several lenses and accessories throughout the years. I really try and support this place because it is a local shop and with Pardees gone we have no other option, yet time and time again I am disappointed. When I picked up my D4, it was like I was buying a block of cheese. No discussion, no conversation, nothing to make me feel like the $5000 I just spent was appreciated. Maybe $5000 is not a big purchase to them, but for me it was significant. Throughout the years coming in to check things out and pick up small stuff, they usually point to where something is, like lens caps, photo paper, etc, as opposed to coming out from behind the camera and engaging in a conversation. After coming in to have a sensor cleaned and being turned away because the battery was not fully charged (By the way that was not the issue. When the D4 is in network mode the sensor cleaning option is grayed out. I figured that out when I Googled the problem sitting in my car.) I could have just gone back in and had them clean it, but it was the final straw of less than stellar customer service. From looking at the other reviews I can see that I am clearly in the minority and I would rate it a 1 star, but with so many 5 stars I am giving them the benefit of the doubt, this is just not the store for me, which is unfortunate as I now have to shop online. read more

I went to Action Camera yesterday because I was shopping for tripods and wanted to see what 'Action Camera' had to offer. There was a female employee up at the front counter. When my friend and I walked in a man came up to the front and she excused herself to the back. He asked if we needed any help and I said we were just looking. The man proceded to STARE at us the entire time we were in the store like we were going to steal something. I was wearing jeans and a t-shirt and my friend was wearing shorts and a t-shirt and we were carrying no bags of any kind. I don't know where a person dressed like us would even try to conceal something from there to steal. At one point while we were looking at the tripods he walked over and started tighening up their attachments to the display while STILL staring at us. Even when I was standing in front of the glass counter and looking at the camera lens on the wall (completely out of reach) he stared at me with a not-so-nice look on his face. I understand businesses have to worry about people stealing from them and want to keep an eye on them and I am fine with that. This went WAY BEYOND that. He made me and my friend feel very uncomfortable and insulted. This is a small store and it would have been very easy to 'keep an eye on us' without being over the top. I spend a lot of money on cameras and equipment. I had thought I would probably make my next purchase of a $400-$800 tripod at this place. After this incident I will NEVER spend money here. EVER! RUDE and unhelpful... I read great things about this shop and decided to bring my vintage super-8 camera their for some advice. The girl that greeted me at the counter had a big smile but then deferred be to a grump working away from the counter. Before he listened to my concern he said "film camera? why? why don't you sell it for $20 somewhere". Little did he know this was a Braun Nizo camera made in Germany worth $250 and he had no clue! He then began to downplay the super-8 world and would not let me explain that there is a following of students and amateur film makers that still like these relics. However, unfortunately that conversation was not allowed. They just plain acted like they have no time for me... very poor customer service. I then proceeded to try and salvage my trip of about 3 miles by way of car to find something else like a lens cover - Let me tell you their prices are high and if I had to deal with their customer service on a issue with an expensive camera - No Thanks! Sorry to all those rave reviewers before me that gave this place 5 stars, maybe if I dropped $1700 there on a Nikon D300 they would have been nice... read more

This review was long overdue. Totally a cool place. Action camera has been a great asset to our small business in getting our cameras repaired and get a new gear when we need to increase our arsenal of equipment. I was a little bit hesitant to buy any camera gear from a local camera shop as I thought their prices were going to be out rages. They ended up being about 20% less than some Amazon prices and B and H photo. we have had two cameras sent back to Canon through action camera and it didn't even take three weeks.
