Dowd's bid was complete with two alternatives, one with an air handler only and one with a gas furnace backup. The job was complete in a day and the installation was neat and professional. Clean up was good. Of the bids I received Dowd's bid was the most complete. One competitor, bidding the same equipment, was almost double the bid I received from Dowd. So far the system handled both 13° and 95° days in stride. My old system caused variations in the temperature from room to room of +- 5-7° now with this system the variation is around 1°. The gas furnace never turned on during the colder stretch. Very pleased.

The technician showed up and accessed the condensing unit on the roof of the 8 unit building that I live in. After his inspection, he told me that I had a bad very old fan motor due to the age of the complex. He told me that he would have to make a few phone calls to try and locate the part which he was successful in doing. He installed the part and told me that my air should be cold again within an hour or so knowing damn well that he had not fixed the problem. He charged me approximately $400 in parts plus 3 hours of labor at $115.00 per hour on a hand held credit card charging device and left. About an hour went by and there was absolutely no change in the temperature of the air coming out of the vents in my condo unit. I called the cell phone number that I had for him and he ignored the call. About a half hour later he called me back and before I even had a chance to tell him what I was calling about, he started to cover his tracks with excuses as to why my air still wasn't getting cold. He never even gave me a chance to tell him why I was calling! That's just a little suspicious! This is the most shady company the I have ever done business with and they should not be in business anymore. Avoid KMS Heating & Air like the plague!
