Paintball fields are easy to find but there seems to be a lack of places willing to let kids and adults play with Airsoft guns. This place was fantastic. They have 5 fields of play plus a huge wooded landscape area if you want to play out in a natural environment. The kids I brought loved it. The regulars were eager to help get my group acquainted with the rules and gameplay. Everyone was more than friendly. The staff was just as accommodating. We needed some supplies (green gas for one) and one of the staff went back to the shop to get it for us. I was really impressed by everyone there. Customers and staff both. If your looking for a great place for either paintball or Airsoft this is the place!

The field is amazing. There is always something new. And not new like a few new bunkers, but new like "oh, we built a pirate ship on the lake". Other features include a three story castle, western fort, ghost town, pirate ship, and a massive bridge. The place is always filled with great players and so far the refs have kept the "douche-baggery" to a minimum during the big games. They say it is a player's field and I think they mean it. I feel like the paint prices are fantastic considering that other fields stick you for $60-$100 a case during big games. Even if you have to make a drive, give this place a try. It is a great paintball park, over 7 fields from ship wrecks to Western towns and a beautiful man-made bridge. Bring your own paint or reasonably priced paint there. Their Valken Graffiti was $60 (same price as ANS) and fresh. They also have a nice staging area 4-5 covered picnic areas lots of room for parking. Dave and his son run the place and you can tell he just wants to create an environment for families and friends to have a good time. His ref are well educated and staff is very friendly. They even cooked for us, hot dogs and hamburgers, during the long weekend. I will continue to plan a few trips out there a year. Worth the drive. PS they are on Eastern Time!

I celebrated my 12th birthday here many moons ago and I swear the memories last a lifetime. You don't have to be a pro to enjoy the sport or this incredible field. Met with the owner Glenn at the site on a Wednesday (he opened up just for us!) and we played for almost 3 hours and had a ball (and a few welts too) ! So much fun! It was the perfect amount of time and the courses were all different and very…read morechallenging (and really nicely done). We played on at least 5 different courses and we even got to play two games against the other (former army) group that was there. The castle was one of my favorite courses! This was also my first time paintballing so I don't have much to compare it to, but I thought it was amazing. The people working at Excalibur are nice, chill, and funny. They provide you with the gun, mask/goggles, and paintballs. You play within your group and can switch up the teams as you see fit. There's a referee for each game and they give you tips and encouragement. You mainly play death-match style, whichever team has the last man standing wins. Once you're shot (and the paint actually splatters and doesn't bounce off) you're out of the game and have to stand in the specified dead zone until it's over. After every 2-3 games you return to the basecamp to refill your gun with air/paintballs, get a drink of water, and catch your breath. Maybe they could add some FAQs on their website for suggestions on what to bring/wear. Make sure to bring gloves and wear lots of layers (long sleeve, short sleeve, sweatshirt), something with a hood or a bandana to cover your neck. You don't want any of your skin showing. Hiking boots or cleats work well. Camo/hunting apparel is a plus.

I was a little nervous going into this, considering everyone told me to layer my clothing because it would feel like getting shot at by a bb gun... but I wore loose jeans and a long sleeve tee, and I had awesome fun and I survived! I left only with 2 decent bruises, but was proud to show off my battle wounds:) I was with a group of 18 people and we played multiple rounds on two different courses. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable about the courses, rules, and equipment. My only complaints: we only used orange paint balls - I would have liked to leave with a bit more colors on me! And the staging area didn't have anywhere to sit when I wanted to rest up. Paintball is not something that I would do again right away, but would be happy to return in the spring to give it another shot.

It was my first time playing airsoft, and the…read morefrustrations I had were partially with the airsoft community of players being slow/unathletic/taking a long time to rest between games. I was used to playing paintball, which has people running more often and faster turn around between games. Blastcamp has a 15 minute rest time between games, and then they call for the next round to start. Players need to show up when called, not stand around and talk for another 15 minutes. That is not the fault of BlastCamp. The field has good rental rifles, and there was always someone on hand to assist with any issues I had, either on or off the field. I never had to wait to address a concern I had. The refs are safety-focused, professional, and omnipresent. There are a few things that, if changed, would turn my 4 star review into a 5 star review. Consistent rules. Full auto is not allowed, which is fine, but anyone who walks in with an LMG gets to ignore that rule. It really frustrated the game my kids were on. Either full auto is allowed for everyone, or no one. Just because you bring something doesn't mean the rules are ignored for you. Better use of space We had a better time with the Cobra- Black Hawk Down event, where most of the property was used. When we played the pickup game weeks earlier, there were rounds where the spawn locations for both teams were right next to each other. After you cross one bush or building, you were shooting at their spawn. Blastcamp has the space; use it, or everyone is getting spawn camped. There were players creeping up on spawns in the BHD event too, but it wasn't because of a tiny play field. Dud replacement I was frustrated when I bought grenades from the desk, but the one for me was a dud. I did this in front of a ref and he said "yeah, that happens, sorry." If I could get a free replacement when that happened, it would encourage me to buy grenades. As it stands, NO ONE SHOULD BUY GRENADES. The only grenade you should use is a "reusable compressed air grenade". The rule is anyone within a certain distance of it is counted as dead when it goes off. Smoke is illegal to use indoors, which is the only place where it is useful if there is any wind. The management is client focused and helpful. Everyone involved did make every effort to engage us and ensure everyone was having a good time.

One, a young blonde 17-year-old (at the time) who was reffing for paintball would not stop badmouthing the airsoft players, and it went far beyond teasing. He also made fun of me for having never tried Twisted Tea (he's 17 mind you), which another ref was handing out to friends at lunch. Overall, the staff experience was bottom of the barrel, other than the people working the food station, who were nice. The field needs better refs and better organization. If it had these things, it would truly be a great place to play.
