Action Sod is one of my favorite places, they have excellent service, the best quality in their products and they always make their customers feel like part of the family. We buy all the sod of our house in Action Sod and it looks great !, of course we give it the necessary care, we water it and we do maintenance. It's sad to read reviews of people who think that as they bought the sod there, they should give them a guarantee so they do not water it, do not care for it or give it any kind of maintenance, every day I'm surprised more about people and their cheekiness. Sold me garbage sod. All died in 2 days. Manager said that there was no warranty. All dead grass was buried in the middle. Had to go to USA Sod to buy replacement grass. Much better quality. Was a customer of Action Sod for more than 10 years. Action Sod did not stand behind their product. I have bought plants, trees , planters , ornaments and the worst grass i have ever bought. I've been a customer of Action Sod & Landscape Gardens for over 25 years, but my recent experience was disappointing. When I approached the payment window, the employee behind the counter was focused on her cell phone and walked away without acknowledging me. After waiting more than 10 minutes, another employee assisted me. I was also charged a credit card fee that was not disclosed or posted near the register. To make matters worse, after leaving, I realized my credit card had not been returned to me. When I went back, I was told it had been left on top of a computer for me to find. Customer service and basic courtesy seem to have declined significantly. Unfortunately, after this experience, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Wish I came here years ago! Action Sod has everything you need and more. The plant, tree, rock, planter, sod, soil and mulch, even fountain selection is unmatched! Their plants are also so healthy, I've bought indoor and outdoor plants here and they last way longer and look better than all the ones I've gotten at Home Depot. Their prices here are way better. And the customer service is amazing, Ramón and the ladies in the front are so helpful. I've gone here with pictures of my front lawn and asked them for advice on plants to buy, and they are so knowledgeable and friendly. On July 10, 2025, I posted a review about my experience at Action Sod Landscape when purchasing grass and stepping stones. I bought 45 stepping stones, and the staff helped load them into my car. However, when I arrived home, I noticed that two of the stones were broken. The following morning, I returned to the store with the two broken stones while planning to buy additional items. I explained to the cashier that I had received the stones in that condition and asked if I could get a replacement or store credit the supervisor "Rosario" refused to do it. I am pleased to share that the bank has since refunded me for the broken items, as well as the $10 they had charged for the returned wood. read more

My experience with them has been the absolute worst. The communication is literally non existent and also inconsistent. They were supposed to deliver new sod on 5 different attempts. 4 of these 5 times, they didn't even call and say they weren't coming anymore and on the 5th attempt, they came with sod but no dirt so the sod couldn't be put down because someone forgot to tell the driver the simple detail that we needed soil also. They have ignored my calls many times and also when I finally speak to someone, they don't seem to have much understanding of what needs to be done for my job. I've been to action sod twice. Both times I've had the best experience. It's accessible to get there and the parking is great. Upon arrival you can walk around the property and look at their beautiful plants/flowers. If you ask for help they will even take you around the property in a golf cart. I recently purchased 3 whole pallets of Sod from this place. The payment transaction was done electronically and the delivery was efficient and timely. I have no complaints about the quality of the sod, but there were extra charges that I didn't agree with. I was told at the onset of this transaction that I was going to be charged $10 per pallet and upon return of the empty pallets, I would receive a credit. I took time out of my day to return the pallets and was then told that I would only receive credit for another pallet of sod, which I do not need. It was my understanding that I was to receive a credit towards an additional purchase of other material or plants. There is also nothing on the invoice that binds me to only receiving a credit for another pallet. This is very disappointing as I was looking forward to doing business with them again, unfortunately I will not. This is why I gave them 3 stars. read more

Very unprofessional service by Barbie the owner - I pre-paid for a merchandise and the wrong merchandise was handed to my driver. They refuse to give credit or pickup the merchandise incurring me additional cost. They do not even return phone calls and are very rude when you are able to reach them while trying to resolve an issue. read more

Zero stars! Action Sod is the most incompetent, unreliable and dishonest you can think of. They were supposed to grade and level and install 5 pallets of bermuda celebration sod in my yard. They sent some people with no clue of what they are doing and that didn't speak a word of english, who came without any tools, took our rake and ripped our fence board to level with half fast. Then they threw some scraps of sod in my yard of different species over bumps. I was going to forgive the bumps. I contacted them over 20 times and asked to see the purchase order for bermuda celebration sod for my yard about 5-6 times. They refuse to send it to me. Unbelievable. I contacted the owner Barbara Lopez. She tried hard to convince me that it's all the same sod and it will blend in. I told her to come and see it and tell me that to my face. I had an excellent experience with Action Sod. I needed sod, plants, mulch and delivery, and they have it all. They took me to see the plants I needed, then we picked 90 of the best podocarpus in stock (they were the best I found after 4 nurseries), plus a really nice ligustrum. I also needed some sod and a pallet of mulch. They have a huge selection of plants, grasses, trees, and mulch. Delivery was very reasonable and on time for the project. Three guys and a forklift made sure that they placed everything exactly where I needed it. I will definitely use them again. read more

1 star is more than they deserve it should be ZERO. They tell you your delivery is on its way and it comes whenever, I asked what time my order would come. I was told noon. When I called at 1pm its on its way 2 1/2 hours later, their aswer was possibly by 5 we dont know where the driver is and hes not answering his phone, to just wait and see when he gets there. The best service and most caring owner. I have bought several plants, mulch and stones in the past but what impressed me most is how much the owner care about our community. I went to three different nursery asking them if they could donate two bags of stones to make hope bags for cancer survivors which includes a beautiful message that includes the stones. All three nursery in the area turned me down but the owner of Action Sod, not only donated the bags to make 300 little purple hope bags for cancer survivors, he also thank me for the job I was doing. We are new residents of Miami Shores and recently replaced our septic tank and drainage field. After the septic/drainage field replacement, we hired Action Sod to replace the sod that had been removed during the septic installation process. We spent nearly $2,000 on delivery and installation of sod by Action Sod on July 11, 2015. Half the sod they installed was healthy; the other half looked like it was near death (very hay-like). We are not sod experts, and during the course of a two and a half week period, we thought we had to simply water the sod routinely so it would "take" (we have a full irrigation/sprinkler system in our yard), because it was our belief that Action Sod, an expert in the business, would never have its employees install sod that would completely die after installation. But, as it turns out, we were completely wrong. We contacted Action Sod on August 4th, with numerous pictures comparing the healthy sod to the unhealthy sod and requesting a remedy. We then had to follow up with Action Sod two more times with my complaint before we received a call today on August 11th from someone with high level status at the company -- a woman named Barbara -- who informed us that Action Sod will in no way replace the sod or refund, in part, the near $2,000 we paid. We should note that we never once mentioned to Barbara that we wanted our money back -- we told her we thought we could reach some type of agreeable remedy. She declined. In an angry and disrespectful tone, Barbara essentially called my partner an uneducated consumer and continued to lecture him about our obligation to advise her of the problem sooner. Our response was that we would prefer not to be lectured by a business that is taking $2000 of our hard-earned money for dead sod. She understood. And we have moved on, perhaps learning a lesson or two from this whole ordeal. Instead of working with us to resolve this problem in a professional manner, Action Sod essentially blamed us for the bad sod it delivered. Stay away from this company!!!! I attempted to purchase empire grass and was treated completely unprofessionally. From my initial order I was promised a call back from a manager "Fran" within the hour (which never came) and that should have been my warning. Instead I called back 5 hours later and was told Fran was too busy to talk to me. They took my $$ and placed my order. I advised them that I needed my order delivered on a Saturday and was told everything was handled and my delivery would be delivered with no issues. Well Saturday rolls around and no delivery, so I call in and am told that there is no delivery on the books for me. At this point I am extreme frustrated because I have a group of landscapers that I am paying per hour waiting around with nothing to do. I called in and requested to speak to a supervisor and was told that there were none available but the owner would call me back. I received a call from the owner who I thought would be understanding and help me through this situation. Instead of making it right she tells me that they found out a half hour ago that my delivery would not be arriving!!???? So I proceeded to ask her to please reimburse my deposit and the money I had to pay my workers because they were not professional enough to give me a courtesy call ahead of time. She responded with this text below "Sir, please provide me with your email address. So, I send you an email requesting your reimbursement info to mail you a Check for your deposit. I cannot pay for your people that you hired to work for you. I apologize for the inconvenience of not being able to provide you with the sod. All the SOD fields in Florida are flooded and every sod company in this town a de every town in the entire state of Florida has the same situation. I apologize you do not understand this... and as a result of you not understanding the facts you think giving ActionSod a bad review is the solution to your madness. I am sorry that this is you. " Can you believe that the owner has the audacity of calling me mad!!!??? They never even called to tell me that the shipment would not be arriving!!!!!! Stay away from this company. We had 2 pallets of sod delivered from Action Sod on Thursday, August 6, 2015. The sod was installed the very same day by my gardeners. It was of an average quality with some brown blades, but overall, it was acceptable - just not great. The sod was watered with our sprinkler system the first day, and for the next 2 days Miami had torrential downpours and thunder storms. On Monday morning, the 4th day after the sod was laid, I called Action Sod to discuss the grass that was getting even more brown. I spoke with Barbara who said she was one of the owners. Before I could even ask her if this was normal for new sod, and if should I be concerned, she became very defensive with me on the phone and told me it wasn't their problem because they could not guarantee that the sod had been watered. I reminded her of the storms throughout Miami over the weekend and assured her that the sod had been well watered. She became so nasty and said that unless I refused the sod as soon as it was delivered, there was nothing they would do, but she could recommend a company to come over and pour pesticides on the sod because it probably had bugs! Needless to say, I did not take her up on that offer! It's been almost 3 weeks now - and the sod has been watered everyday - and we are going to purchase new sod from a different company to replace the now completely dead patches from Action Sod. On another note, don't purchase any soil from this company either. Six weeks before the sod incident, we also purchased 2 truckloads of soil from Action Sod which was also a disappointment. After it was spread by my gardeners, I realized that there were many pieces of broken glass in the soil. I only mentioned it to my my gardener, because over 36 cubic feet was already spread and what could we do? Pick it all back up? I didn't even bother to mention this to Barbara because I knew she would tell me that it wasn't their problem. After all, how do they know that I didn't have a party on my soil and break about 100 glass bottles all over it? Do yourself and garden a big favor and stay away from this company! read more

I have been duped and cheated! I purchased sod from Florida All Green Corp. landscaping in Miami. They purchased the sod from Action Sod and Landscape Gardens. It looked green and "appeared" to be healthy for two weeks. We hired Florida All Green to mow our grass every two weeks. The day they laid the new grass they only mowed the old grass but the next time they came they mowed everything with Godzilla and literally scalped the new grass. The grass died immediately, every single blade. All Green says the problem is fungus, not their mowing. Well, if the grass has fungus, severely enough to kill all of it, immediately, then it had fungus when it was sold to us. Both of these companies are supposed to be professional landscape companies who should know something about grass. Action Sod sold dying grass to All Green and both sold it to us. We were swindled. Heaven forbid, either would take responsibility for their mistakes. Both companies so far have refuse to stand behind their work. read more
