What this company does is illegal and come Monday morning I will be reporting them, filing a complaint with all 3 credit bureaus to remove their inquiry and contacting the better business Bureau. I walked in and looked at a 2007 jeep which I was told was 11,000. Came back the next day and told them I want to put down only 500, my credit isn't the greatest but wait till you see this break down. Ok jeep 11,000 Down payment 500 I'll be financing 10500 at 20% interest Add 300 tax title plates Interest comes out to 2100 Which would mean my payment would be 280.43 x 46 months Try again this is what they tried to sell me on. Your credit is bad it's tier 2 not tier 1 I need to put down 2000 dollars my payment will be 370 x 46 months.....how is it I owe more for putting more money down??? Say I put 2000 down Now I'm finacing 9000 at 20% Which is 1800 Say 300 tax title lic etc Brings us back to 11000 Which means my payment would be 239.13 x 46 months. What they are doing is the oldest scam in the book now if the finance company is in on it....well we shall see when I notify the authorities. Very shady dealership. The owner said i called earlier in the day and abused his staff over the phone, which he must have mistaken me for someone else. I explained that he had me confused for somone else, but he continued to rip into me. That was when I had enough, I told him he was a piece of s*** and he could shove the car up his a**. That was a good enough statement for the treatment I received. I was just calling to confirm an A.M. appointment the night before. I had talked to a male sales person earlier in the day. The sales guy said the car wasn't there. The owners wife was out driving it. That was a red flag about the dealer as well, because any reputable dealer and owner would have a better demo to drive for his wife than a 2004 honda civic. I knew the owner had me mixed up for someone else because he said I called and laid into a female employee of his..I had only ever talked to guys from that dealer. His mistake, but at his loss. My room mate's daughter needed to buy her first car and had saved for nearly three years. She decided to go to Active Auto Sales in Roselle. She found a 2004 Kia Rio for $4,162 out the door. Her Mom took it to have her mechanic look it over, but was not allowed much time for this inspection. The mechanic said it looked to be in pretty good shape for the year and the mileage. She bought the car. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!! She's not driven it yet and has put close to $2,000 MORE into the car just to make it ROAD WORTHY!!!!! The brakes needed complete rebuilding, the wheel bearings needed to be replaced, the shocks and struts needed to be replaced, the light switch for the headlights had to be replaced, the CV joint had to be replaced, the driver's side mirror had to be replaced and the battery needed to be replaced, since the car DIED in our parking lot!!! Keep in mind that they shop the auto auctions, do MINOR fix-ups and throw them on the lot. (Just enough to get them sold.) DON'T WASTE YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY ON ANYTHING THESE THIEVES WILL TRY TO SELL YOU!!!!! PASS THEIR PLACE AND KEEP GOING!!!! read more

This is worst place I've ever dealt with!. 1) they sold me a car that needed work, yes i knew that, but the agreed to fix it and didn't! As a matter of fact! One of the multiple times i took it in for service they broke the A/C and once i confronted the mechanic, he denied it. 2) Never missed a payment, always on time or early. 3) BEST PART!!! They came and repossess the vehicle. I called the owners son Dean to ask him why, and he couldn't give me an answer. He said "I don't know, i don't know" and proceeded to blame Alma ( the receptionist WTF), the lady who works there handles all of "that".. I've never dealt with such a horrible place. I'm an active duty service member who had just been PCS'd to this area. I Didn't know the area! If you're a government, state, or city employee--stay away! DO NOT PURCHASE ANY VEHICLES FROM THEM PLEASE!!! First of all I recently purchased a vehicle from here knowing it had a wheel alignment issue and an issue with the A/C and I bought it anyways and two weeks later I realized the car had a horrible oil leak. I went to get a quote on how much it would cost to repair and it came out to $1500 from a local auto repair shop. Not only that but the battery went out on me not to mention it was the wrong battery for the car. After calling to see what they could do about repairing it they claimed I could bring it in and I'd only have to pay for labor and the parts which would be wholesale but I do not want any of their mechanics laying a finger on this car they've done enough damage. This dealership will not let you know of the issues the car has and they try to force you to buy vehicles that look clean and safe but really have one or more mechanical issues. I do not trust the dealers here and all they want to do is make money they do not care if you are unaware of the issues a car has. Save your time and money and go elsewhere!!!! read more

I ended up sending the car back 5 days later because I was being harassed by their salesman Wilson over proof of address. So i went in today on a whim to take a look at a car (i've been car searching for a month here and there) and the owner's son DJ attended me and was super helpful and informative! He really made me feel comfortable walking into the dealership especially with the last few horribke visits i've experienced at other places prior to this. I left without buying as i just came in to look but the car i found here was in good shape and DJ was able to answer all my questions directly with no pressure and no hesitation. I definitely will be coming back seeing as i still wanna keep looking but so far this place is the number 1 spot where i may end up becoming a car buyer. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM HERE. The owner Dave is the rudest person and will not stand up to his own company's mistakes. Dave's mechanic repaired the U-joints on my vehicle and installed them incorrectly. Keep in mind I had my vehicle for 1 week ONLY when I found out the U-Joints need to be replaced. The warranty company wouldn't cover it either, but told me the car was unsafe to drive. I was on a "family" trip with my siblings and the transfer case below on the highway! I couldn't believe it. Dave had said "he wants nothing to do with the repairs". Its unfortunate he wont stand up to his own company's fault but the best I can do is warn you of this terrible dealer ship. Please ! My fiancé came in looking for a used car with low miles. The car salesman assured that the car he found interest was in top working order! My fiancé was excited about the car and put down a $500 deposit to hold it. Unfortunately when we came back to take a second look at the car with our mechanic. There were multiple problems found resulting in over $1000 in repairs. We wanted our deposit back but they would not issue a reimbursement. A women who may have been the owner/manager over herd our worry and joined in on the discussion. She started yelling at my fiancé in front of everyone in the office. We eventually walked out disappointed and upset. This is the first and last time we will deal with Active Auto Sales. read more

Emilio was decent enough when selling me my Nissan truck, but he sold it with a 30 day,1000 mile warranty. I drove it home, 5 days later the engine is bad. I do not think they knew it was about to go bad but they will not honor the warranty. Emilio keeps saying I have to talk to the manager but manager is supposedly never available. Also he will never call me back. They told me to get an estimate from a local shop. I have spent more then $300 trying to get it going and getting an estimate from a local shop for them. Now they say I have to pay $300 to return to them so they can check out. This has now crossed the line with absolutely no customer service, no backup on the supposed warranty. WILSON said oh no problem we will hook it up to our machine, we can fix..but they cldnt that day, so he promised to fix on Saturday..that it was just a small leak.why the light was on and acted like his word was gold, said he would put in contract...after we got vehicle back in a couple days, the light was off...well I had not even made the second payment or gotten my license plates from the place and the car won't start...towed it to local place here in crystal lake. ..oh the radiator has leaked into transmission. ..the recall that we were NOT informed of expires after 100,000 miles...I bought it with 115,000 miles. ..we owe $7000 ...the cost of repair is $5,000 !!!..repair shop said that's why light was on...my husband went in and they said Wilson was fired they couldn't help us...no call back..my husband has been there several times..because they dont call back.... no offer to help, won't take car back they don't care...so I'm out of a car...we have three kids...my husband is a plumber, I watch kids to make some money, and now our credit will be ruined as well, I had a chevy venture for ten years..never a problem I was hit in accident they gave me 3,000...I bought my used but new to me dream car from Active Auto and it is a nightmare. ..my car is sitting at a repair shop and we can't afford to fix it..it's been a month...next payment due...any lawyers out there? read more

We negotiated a small amount off the asking price and talked a bit with the owner in the process. Since the office is small, my spouse and I explained that we wanted to go outside actually discuss the deal. When we came back in around a minute later to accept the deal, we were informed that another customer (who came in much later after us) wanted to pay full price and therefore we must now pay full price. When it was pointed out that we had a deal on the table we were working on, we were informed that that us going outside (without coats in 35 degree weather) counted as us "leaving". While the staff was friendly enough to give the impression of integrity, the owner's willingness to renege on his offer (for $150!) under such circumstances quickly dispelled any illusion of integrity for us. read more

Dave, Sunny and Dane are running quite the scam! Dave is the owner. Sunny is the brother of the owner and Dane is Dave's son. Notice how all three of them are NEVER in the office together. When I first arrived here with my husband we talked to Sunny for a bit. My husband test drove the car and everything seemed fine for a car that was over 10 years old. We sat down with Sunny to see what we could negotiate. In talking, he would not come down on the price because "he is not the owner and he is not authorized to make changes to the price." We asked when the owner would be in and he said "Oh I'm not sure he just kind of left but he's probably at the gym or something." He did, however, offer us a 90 day engine and transmission warranty for free. He "wanted us to feel like we were taken care of and make us feel better about the decision." Since they wouldn't budge on the price, we went to see another car in the area that was a bit cheaper. It had a lot more rust, so we went back to Active Auto Sales the next day. This time, Sunny "just left" and Dave was there. We signed the papers, grabbed the keys were on our way. We didn't even get to the gas station 2 miles down the road before the check engine light came on. We took it to my step dad's shop the next weekend and it's got a whole list of problems. Oil leak, loose track bar, needs a new steering shaft, new gearbox, new pressure hose, new return hose, rear main seal, front pinion seal, rear pinions seal and rear cover and the radio is wired to a constant 12V. They're estimating about $3,500 and that's after the family discount. They wanted to see the engine and transmission warranty papers that they gave us. I was a work, so I called over to Active Automotive and tell Dave what I needed. He says "Okay no problem, I'll fax it over in a little bit." A few hours go by and still no papers. I call back and I get Dane who tells me "The man who has your papers isn't here right now." I said "Who is he and why does he have my papers?" Dane says "Oh well he's the owner and that's something that you're going to have to ask him." I asked "When is he expected back?" Dane "I don't know. I'm not sure where he went because he's the owner so he just comes and goes." Me "So he just comes and goes with my paperwork?" Dane "Again, that's something that you're going to have to ask him." Me "So he just has my papers sitting in his car while he's going and doing who knows what?!?" Dane "I mean, that's what it looks like because I don't see any paperwork for you anywhere." Me "So you're telling me that the actual office from which I purchased my car has absolutely no record of my sale, but some random guy has all of my papers in his car?" Dane "Again, that's something that you're going to have to ask him." SUPER SKETCHY!!!!! Dane ended up taking down my name and number so Dave could call me right away once he returns. I know that's not going to happen. They are complete assholes, all three of them. They knew exactly what they were doing and it looks like they've been doing this to a lot of people. Ignore the 5 star review, I'm sure it was one of them trying make a better image for themselves. DO NOT GO HERE! They seem really friendly when they're trying to sell you a car and then they disappear when you have questions. I'm sure the 5 star review is one of them. read more
