The Anesthesiologist was the worst ever, and the post care nurse who pulled out my IV before going home was awful. She was rushing me out when I was in so much pain from the surgery (I felt everything the doctor was doing during the surgery), because I was not medicated properly by the Anesthesiologist during the surgery! The day after the surgery I went to the doctors office to get checked and the Optometrist heard the whole story. He was beside himself, and told me to make a report to the Chevy Chase Surgery Center facility. I called them when I got home and asked to speak to the Administrator. They said he would call me back. I asked to speak to the Director of Nursing. I spoke to her and told her everything that happened. She said she would call me back, but I heard nothing for 1 month and I called them again. I left messages for Raffi the Administrator to call me back. When he did call me back he made excuses that he was gone 2 weeks and then the Director of Nursing was gone two weeks. He still had 2 weeks to call me back, and didn't when he got back. I told him that I felt the whole surgery being performed on my eye. My arms had IV and medical items attached to it, so I was trying to lift my arm on the other side so someone would see I was trying to get there attention. The Doctor had his hands resting on my checks while operating, so I couldn't talk for fear he would mess up. I was in so much pain afterwards and couldn't get the words out. I was shaking like a leaf, Then the Nurse says I have to get up, and I was dizzy and I couldn't. She wanted me off the bed, so another patient could fill it I am sure! It's not about quality of care - It's all about money! Another issue - I have Medicare and it's great insurance. They called me the day before requesting that I make a payment of $ 270.00 the first time when I had the first eye done, then the second time it was $ 270.79. This had to be paid when you got there at the Surgery Center. I paid it immediately, but a few weeks later I received my Insurance EOB which said I owed nothing. I called them and said they need to reimburse me the money I paid. I found out after talking to the insurance that when they got the authorization before the surgery they received notice that the procedure was not to cost me anything, but they called and asked for the money again and I knew nothing about this until the EOB came to me. They sent me the check, but I questioned them why they took the money before surgery - my question wasn't answered directly. Then came the second surgery. and they did the same thing. The beginning of August I called about getting my money back- I was told that the check was in the mail. It's the 20th of August so I called the Accounting Department on the 18th, 19th, and 20th of August to see when I was getting my payment. They said the first day the check went out, I told the lady I still have not received it. She said she would find and call me. On the 18th of August I called again. because I got no call back -she said the Administrator Raffi had to do the cancelled check with the bank, and he wasn't there. So, I called again on the 20th, and they said they would send me a copy of the check they said they sent -nothing sent me yet. I told them that I wanted to speak to Raffi, and they said on the 20th he was going to be out all day. I told then I wanted the check cancelled and a new one sent asap , because I waited long enough. The woman said I would have to wait two weeks, and I said I will not wait two more weeks! As soon as I said I would let the my insurance know everything that has happened, my daughter got a call back from Raffi. I was told he was not going to be there all day - She told him to call me which he did, I had my phone on silence, so I called him back immediately. He said the check was sent, and I told him to send me a copy of it because I don't believe them anymore. He took my address and said he would issue another check and mail it. I contacted my insurance company. so they knew exactly what transpired in my second surgery. They should know that I was not the only one this happened to, and that the doctors office told me that other people had the same awful experience as I did with this terrible Anesthesiologist. The service and care the second time was horrible. I would never recommend this place to anyone after what I went through with the second eye surgery . They don't care about calling people back when a problem arises.It's all about Money! Pushing you out even if you are not feeling well! It's about the volume of patients that go through there (15,000 patients) as stated by the Administrator Raffi, and as he said they are too busy to call people back with patient care concerns or problems with their accounting department.

Going through the list of all doctors in a 30 mile radius I got ahold of Dr Blaine, I explained my situation and he said that although he is retired he wanted to help my son and gave me the number to this clinic. I called them at 3:30 pm and explained the situation and they said we could bring him right away and they would help. Dr Joseph was able to treat my son that day and made it so he was comfortable for the whole procedure. Everyone on the staff was wonderful and really saved the day. We have never been treated so well at any other practice Thank you Dr Blaine for the referral and thank you Access podiatry group.
