Our house is in the woods and inevitably prone to all the fun critters that also like to live in the woods. We've been using Acton Pest Control for a couple of years now, and have been incredibly happy with every interaction. Chris and Andrea are always prompt to respond to our calls and any questions, and are clear with any info or instructions we might need (like how long to leave the house for when they spray). We've had them out to help with ants, mice, yellow jackets, and wasps and have seen a massive difference. Chris was also kind enough to show us what steps we could do to help us seal parts of the house to prevent things from entering. He's crazy knowledgable about every little creature! Discovered a giant hornet's nest in a corner under our eaves up near the top of our multi-story roofline. It looked almost impossible to get to. Found Acton Pest Services with a quick Google Search and gave them a call. Andrea took my information and Chris came out within about 30 minutes to assess the situation. He said it was the biggest nest he'd seen all season (and so I'd earn a gold star!), and that he'd need to bring in help since it was a multi-ladder situation on a steeply-sloped roof to get to it. He and his cousin showed up shortly later and demonstrated that they had neither a fear of heights nor a fear of 2000 angry hornets. Chris excitedly educated me in the nest structure after they got it down, and clearly explained what to expect after he applied poison to the nest remnants to prevent the remaining hornets from rebuilding. This is a great local family run business, super responsive, capable, and delightful to deal with. I almost never leave reviews but this is a case that compels me to get the word out. If you're going to have a pest control pro in your home during a quarantine, go with Acton Pest Control. Today, Chris arrived wearing a protective mask, rubber gloves, and shoe coverings. He told me that he sprays his clothing with Lysol after every job. He explained what he was going to do. He put many different kinds of bait in the attic crawl spaces. Then he went to the basement and put bait stations there. It took him all of 45 minutes to handle something I haven't been able to get under control since last year. Chris also gave me excellent advice on how to seal up the cracks on the outside of the basement (but not to do this for a couple of weeks so that the mice can get out of the house after eating the bait). I've heard we should seal them with steel wool, but I had no idea how to do it. I was also happy with my call to the company yesterday. His dad Jack answered the call and was very friendly, informative and professional. The job was done well within 24 hours of my call! I also like that they're a small family business.
