So beforehand, we went to the concession stand for Tazo teas and a cookie to share. FYI The place is run all by volunteers. The acoustics in the main stage performance area are great. The seats were comfortable also. It was a wonderful show! We both said that we would come back to TCAN if we saw another artist scheduled who we were interested in.

I only come…read moreto Hopkinton for the Start of the Boston Marathon but never actually spend time here wandering around. This cute art center has different exhibits but the one I went to was all about the Boston Marathon. I had signed up to do the special package which included a 13 min slide show about the history of some of the statues that are on the Boston marathon course and just some history about the course/ race itself. And then there was a self guided tour to see the winged foot statues and some others as well. And there was a coupon for food at the start line brewery included too. The person who helped me get my tour started was very nice and helpful. This space is on the small side but it is very nice and clean. Feels a bit on the homey side. I would come back here for sure to check out other art exhibits they put on when it's not marathon season.

Seating was on a first come first serve basis, but everything was well organized. There was a dance floor in front which was an added bonus. I will definitely go back to check out other performances. A quick…read morelook at the schedule, however, will tell you that this studio is the real deal for dancers, offering an endless variety of styles and even a strict dress code for the ballerina/os to show you they mean pink-tights-only business. But my relationship with Gervais comes with one loaded, trendy, hear it now and scream it later word: ZUMBA! Zumba with Judy is your ticket to a wonderful time at Gervais. Twice a week, the long, one room studio fills with something like 20 local women, all ages, all sizes, all smiles. In one hour, your pores will surrender more sweat than you thought a body could produce in below-freezing weather. Share a conspiratorial grin with your fellow salsa warriors as you stuff yourself back into that winter hat and gloves on your way to the parking lot. The day is made.

My step daughter has been in the dance program for the last couple of years and she enjoys it. I…read morehave an issue with the recitals. They are very long...endless really...and as parents, we need to sit through a 3 hpur performance, of which 3 minutes features my step daighter. The remain 2 hours and 57 minutes are mainly the same kids, performing the same dance moves, in different costumes. Last year was even worse. There were two shows on the same day. Between getting her there, the breaks, lunch, and the actual dances, the day lasted over 11 hours. We were all exhausted. I know other studios separate out the older kids from the younger ones for this very reason. Whats worse, we can't take her out of there. They have a police officer that precludes parents from seeing, talking, or taking their child. Im pretty sure that's not legal. If it were up to me, I would switch studios.

The staff is super talented and friendly, and the place feels like family. (5) And did I mention they host free open mics open to the community on the first Thursday of every month during the school year?! So you get to hone your performance skills? Corbitt opened the place in 1973, and he's as warm and honest a guy as you're ever going to find. (He's also hilariously droll, and knows a lot about music, musical instruments, music history, life, the universe, and everything.) His son Max now handles much of the everyday operations, and shares most or all of Corbitt's strengths, as named above. Which is really cool--It means there'll be a Centre Music in Framingham for another generation. Great place for lessons, too.
