I've taken Aaron's class for about a year. I have enjoyed every minute of it. Aaron brings a lot of experience and knowledge that helps me explore the craft of acting thoughtfully and with practical techniques that help me improve. We do advanced scene study, audition technique, script analysis, cold reading, improv. We even had the fun and educational opportunity to quickly write, direct, and act in our own scene and others' scenes in class. In August 2019, I performed at the Hollywood Showcase that Actor's Edge holds every year. That was a treat. I had the pleasure of seeing the skill of other actors of literally just about all ages (which is a testament to both the actors' talents and Aaron's skills as a teacher---they all were really amazing). I also got the opportunity to perform scenes in front of a large audience that included almost two dozen Hollywood industry professionals. I received feedback on my acting from these pros and was given the chance to place my resume and headshot in their hands---it can be very difficult to have that kind of opportunity, let alone that opportunity times 20 or so. And from that opportunity, I got an agent and have begun auditioning. Additionally, in January 2020, I took part in Aaron's two-day musical improv workshop. It was not only a blast but also very educational about the craft of improvisation. It was fun working with the other actors. It challenged me. I loved every second of it. It was worth every penny---I only wish it were longer. ;) I definitely plan on continuing with the class as I pursue my career in acting. Even if acting is not your passion, I would also encourage those looking to get over fears of public speaking or stage fright to take the leap and try a class. I've gained a great deal of confidence from facing those fears. Plus it's been a great way to meet other creative people and make friends. Our Daughter has advanced leaps and bounds since joining Actor's Edge! The staff is tremendously generous with their time, attention to detail and workaround's when needed. The staff is always following up to check and ask for feedback, making sure everything is going well with the student, ensuring I am always aware of all costs, (no hidden costs), and accommodating schedules and personal needs! This extra personal touch by their staff is a rare gift especially in an industry that can sometimes make you feel invisible. Our Daughters teacher Aaron has been the miracle we've prayed for! With a lot of patience, attentiveness and through hard work and consistency he has helped her break many barriers and she has now developed skills and confidence that no other teachers have been able to do! My 12 son has participated in Aaron Metchik's acting classes at Actors Edge for several years now. The experience has benefited him in several ways. It has made him more confident and sure of himself, he now has no problem performing in front of a large audience, he has improved in his ability to project the character of the person he may be is playing, and most of all he has had loads of fun. It is amazing how Aaron is able to take a bunch of actors, many with no previous experience, and in a short period of time, produce a musical video and, short production that is that is of very high quality. The productions produced by each class is the brain child of the group, is written by the group, and all actors in the production are members of the class. The videos of both the musical and the theatrical production are filmed, and edited by Aaron, and then viewed by the class participants and their family and friends the last day of the class. Two of my daughters have been students at Actor's Edge for over 2 years. It is, without a doubt, one of the best extracurricular activities we've done for our kids. My eleven year-old daughter was fortunate enough to land representation in LA thanks to the classes. She has landed paying gigs as a sitcom extra and with large Internet media companies (BuzzFeed, Funny Or Die). She also auditioned for a couple major motion pictures and started her own YouTube channel. Aaron is one of those rare people who is both experienced and highly skilled-but also a great, patient teacher who loves working with kids (anyone who has been involved with sports knows what I'm talking about). One thing I try and stress when I recommend Actor's Edge to friends is this: even if your child has no interest in theater or breaking into TV & film in Hollywood, Actor's Edge is still a great way for your kid to build their confidence, learn to speak better, and work with other kids. I've seen a lot of improvements in my 10 year-old daughter's diction & confidence since being involved. As a parent of 3, I love that most of the classes are on weekends and practicing is done at home (or by coordinating with your scene partner). Aaron is one of the best humans you could ever meet! He really cares about his students and you can tell! I really feel he genuinely wants each of his students to succeed. He lives in SoCal and teaches in LA, but makes time to be on the Central Coast! Does anyone else know that drive up the 101?! It's REALLY great for ex-LA residents like myself, because I get the same quality of instruction as is expected and delivered there. As an Acting Coach, Aaron really has a way of getting you to want to get the most out of yourself. "Ok, now try it THIS way!" I was able to attend the Hollywood Virtual Showcase in December '20 and have a call back to an agency. Aaron will always be realistic with you about expectations (and believe me, not everyone is). This acting class is so worth it if you as an adult or your kids are interested in learning the skill and all the ins and outs of screen acting. Theater is a completely different art form than tv/film and of course is great in it's own right, but we are incredibly lucky to have a specific class like this one on the central coast. Aaron Metchick (the founder, owner, and head instructor) is actually also a close family friend of mine whom I've known for over 3 decades, so I can truly say he is the real deal. He is such a gifted actor and a phenomenal teacher, who has been in the acting bussiness his whole life and found much success. Since the Covid shutdowns in March, classes switched over from in-person to virtual, but Aaron is the best, most dedicated leader for his students. His creativity and positive energy made the change as swift as possible, while keeping us students motivated and engaged 12 hours a month on the digital platform, Zoom. I have gotten more than I ever imagined out of Actor's Edge, I compeltely love it, and plan to keep taking classes and workshops there for as long as they are available! I love working with Aaron and his team he has craftily put together at Actors Edge. I have worked with so many acting coaches in my time in LA and I just constantly felt like I didn't fit anywhere. Little did I know all I had to do was look in my own back yard. I'm so grateful Aaron offers online classes now witch helps make class with my favorite instructor a lot more accessible for someone who lives in LA and not the central coast. Our experience with Aaron and his staff at Actors Edge here in SLO has been really good. They are very open, honest and comfortable with communication. My daughters first few weeks felt a little rocky as she tried film acting for the first time after 7 years of theater acting. I recently had a callback for a movie audition and didn't want to loose the opportunity of booking the job, so I called Aaron to help me prepare for the scene. I live out of state, so we did our session via Skype. Long story short, I booked the job opposite an A-list actor for a major production. I certainly know that Aaron's adjustments were exactly what I needed in order to land the role. What I appreciate most is that he allows you to express yourself the way that you see the character and fine tunes his direction around how you want to perform the scene. Aaron is amazing, he is great with the kids! He has worked with our son for some years now and has taught him so much. About acting, writing and in general how to present,mproject your voice and be comfortable in front of people. A life skill we all need! Before finding Actor's Edge we struggled to find a good creative outlet for our son but Aaron was the perfect answer. He lets the kids be creative and run with ideas. My son enrolled for the Summer session at Actor's Edge. I wasn't sure what to expect. I felt like a lot was expected of my 8yr old in a short amount of time. Boy was I surprised and blown away! My son was able to memorize 2 scripts of 3 pages each in a matter of hours and perform at weekly meetings, with confidence. In just a few short weeks, I could see how my son grew in confidence and skill. Actor's Edge has been a nice self esteem booster for him. 10/10 would definitely recommend taking classes from Aaron. He really cares for his students and does his best to make sure we really understand the material he puts up for us. My son started acting lessons with Aaron in January 2021. In my son's words, he likes that "everyone is kind, I learn good acting techniques, and I have fun and enjoy it."
