So glad I finally got lasik! Best decision ever. So much less expensive than I thought it would be, had 20-15 vision (better than perfect!) by the very next day. Amazing to be able to hop in the car or on a horse and SEE where I'm going without fumbling for foggy glasses! Finally doing all the things others take for granted like watching my kids play soccer and being able to see their faces and teammates numbers from across the field, or read the menu board at restaurants. I've been recommending Acuity and Dr Vale to all my friends. Ditch those glasses or contacts for good! read more

Acuity Laser Eye & Vision Center - Optometrists Near Me - Scranton, Pennsylvania

Would give negative stars if I could. Was misdiagnosed by this Dr. Vale as having a tear in my retina. 2 other retina specialists said no tear exists whatsoever. He wanted to perform laser surgery asap on what? Didn't see him for laser correction, but a Board Certified Opthalmologist should know what they're doing no?Missing and antiquated equipment unlike the other specialists. Even the eye drops took forever to dialate the eyes unlike the others I saw. I confronted Dr Vale with his diagnosis and he said something like it could be mistaken as something else in medical jargon. Either a tear exists or it doesn't period requiring surgery. If scheduled I'd probably have only one eye. Thankfully I took the time to get other opinions. Billing was also odd at 4 months late and what am I paying for anyway a misdiagnosis? Scary - something is really wrong. If you value your eyes do yourself a favor and RUN DON'T WALK!!! read more

My vision is worse than when I went in. Keeps saying I have dry eyes but, I don't feel like my eyes are dry and I'm constantly putting in eye drops anyway. read more

Extremely poor experience with this doctor. I spent about 2 hours in the office for an eye exam between him being on the phone, talking to other patients, etc. At no point of the exam was I able to see as clearly as I should have. The doctor was fine with wasting my time, but when it came to his time he was okay with sending me out the door with a poor prescription. I visited another doctor because I didn't wanted to deal with something so awful again and he confirmed for me that the prescription I was given matched the glasses I ordered. The other doctor was confused himself as to why Dr. Vale would be fine with giving me such a poor prescription. At the other office I was in and out in around 20 minutes, not the 2 hours like Dr. Vale's office. I even managed to get a prescription I can see clearly out of from this other office. After contacting Dr. Vale's office about this issue I was threatened to be sent to collections. All I got out of the phone call was it's my fault the doctor gave me the wrong eye glass prescription, I must pay for my incorrect eye prescription, and if I don't I will be sent to collections! All in all a horrible experience. How can you trust someone who cant get a simple eye prescription right to do a surgery on your eyes? I sure wouldn't and that is why I didn't come back to this office to have my issue "rectified." read more

Dr Vale was really quick but precise with my eyes. I just had lasik done a week ago and I see great! I did not remember to put the artificial tears in right away which he got on to me about but in a fatherly way. He may have a different way of practices that people may think is incorrect but with every great doctor is a method to their madness. You just got to have some thick skin he's honest and he cares for his patients. He will tell you like it is to make sure you are taking care of your eyes. After the procedure he was very sympathetic and soft spoken to me and even played the instructions on care for my eyes twice for me to help me remember as well as instructions to take home. He did custom with my lasik to correct my night vision and a year of insurance on my eyes for less than 5 grand. Can't beat that. On top of that I had no itchy eyes no pain I had a little dry eye but thats already clearing up. Thank you Dr Vale I was so nervous going in but Mary went in with me and held my hands the whole time. I saw the billboards for lasik at $599 per eye. But its bait and switch, It was $999 for each eye to start, they have different prices depending on your eye sight, never heard of this...? it cost more for add ons, like HD and touch ups. After all was said and done, it was about 500 more then the 2 other places I checked. I wish I didnt have to waste my time and fill out all that info up front. Update: I never worked for these people, but I dont see those billboards anymore... I got my lasik elsewhere, recovery time took alot longer as I got the procedure w/o the flap called PRK, google alot, there is much more info to find now then when I looked before and it will help you. read more

Went to Dr Vale for a free consultation for Lasik on my one one eye. They have you look into a machine to see what exactly is the problem with your eyes. I didn't see Dr. Vale for the consultation, just member of his staff. He does advertise prices of $599 but it also says "starting" at $599. I was kind of set back when I was told the price. $1399 for one eye and $1199 for another. I really only want the surgery for my one eye but they suggested both. They also offer enhancements and guarantees which added to the price. If I wanted the "top of the line" package, I would be looking at a price tag of $4000 plus. Basically if I just wanted the corrective surgery, I'd be looking at $2600. This was quite a bit more than i was expecting. I figured the $599 would not be what I was expecting to pay. The staff is very nice, and thorough with the explanation of everything. I will consider the surgery sometime in the future. Dr. Vale, as far as I know, is the most experienced in this area for Lasik. read more

I don't understand how anyone could have anything bad to say about Dr. Vale or his expertise. I had Coke bottle glasses and now, almost ten years later, I STILL see perfectly. I'm a teacher and coach and decided that this summer I was finally going to get rid of my contacts and glasses. After researching many different places within driving distance, I chose Acuity and Dr. Vale for a couple of reasons. For what I was looking for, their prices were very competitive with other places. Dr. Vale is very experienced and provided explanations for all the different options (PRK vs. Lasik, benefits of punctual plugs, advantages of custom lasik) and the staff did an excellent job of explaining what to expect before the procedure, during the procedure and after the procedure. And, I had questions that came up in between the consultation and procedure and they were all answered extremely quickly and professionally. Mary Peters does an excellent job and you can tell she wants your experience with Acuity to be positive and stress free. Well, I just had my 2nd follow up and I'm seeing 20/15 and everything is going well. Most of my vision was there the day after the surgery but I can still see improvements as the healing process continues. Great Job Dr. Vale and the Acuity Team. read more

Had a morning appt on July 3. Got a confirmation call the day before confirming it. Drove the 30 plus miles and went the day of the appt and no one was there. Saw that I had received a call THAT morning stating they were sorry I had to cancel but that they could see me at 1 PM. I NEVER called to cancel and when asked to hear the message I supposedly left I was told it was deleted. Was told by Cathy she could come from the Scranton office and see me but that she could not be there till 1, go get something to eat I was told... I took a day off of work for this and this is what I get??? VERY unprofessional, and it seems I was not the only one, there were two other people that morning who went to the door and then looked in to see the office was closed. Dr. Vale may be very good at what he does but I won't find out because I will NEVER be back. Work 3 blocks from Wills Eye, will pursue it there.. shame... read more

I had LASIK with Dr. Vale earlier this year in January. I thought it was a great experience and was seeing 20/15 after the first day and have been ever since (about 3 months since now). Still recovering with eyedrops and warm compresses as per usual with any LASIK surgery. I like how Dr. Vale breaks down the price options in the consultation with you. I had fairly poor eyesight, so that cost a bit extra compared to the base price, but I did get the discount he was advertising around the holidays. Ultimately I chose Dr. Vale because he's the most experience surgeon in the area with over 25,000 surgeries since 1994 he says. Nobody else comes close. Practice makes perfect they say. I also thought the office staff did a good job of communicating with me pre and post surgery and was patient with my questions during the consultation. It takes a good surgeon and a good office staff and this place has both. He also owns his own LASER, so he is directly involved with getting it calibrated with the manufacturer and this also means he offers surgery on more days of the month. If you're considering LASIK or PRK, I would check this place out. read more

I am a nurse practitioner and chose acuity because a friend of mine who is a physical therapist went here. I recommend this place to everyone. Pro: very professional staff, experienced physician. Con: do your homework on what to expect with the procedure....although everyone heals differently, you should read experiences online. I had no light sensitivity (thankful for that), but because I had PRK I could not work for 2 1/2 weeks cause my vision was blurry. Pro: the office staff is exceptional, I wanted an extra check up and they made me another appt right away. I wore glasses since I was a teen and I have not worn any since the surgery! I was a little put off at first with the "sales" appt, but went ahead with them because in the medical community I work in Dr. vale has a great reputation, I am glad I chose them. I am only 3 weeks out now, but happy with the results so far! Do your homework and pick the best--your eyes are very important :) read more
