We discussed and agreed to the project schedule and expectations. What transpired was a serious lack of transparency and management. We were taken advantage of including paying for work that was never done and were told it was, hurried work that required rework multiple times, schedule slippage by multiple weeks causing us to incur additional costs and rescheduling subsequent contractors. John discussed making things right, however we were well past the point of allowing for this to continue and paid for a different contractor to finish the remaining rework. Terrible service and no communication! It took 2 1/2 months to get carpet installed…read more We chose floor center due to the fact that they had the carpet in stock that we wanted. When we purchased our home we had to get the carpet replaced before we could move in to the upper level, we were told that since the carpet was in stock that they could install the same week. So we paid for the carpet and waited. And waited. And waited. For nearly 3 weeks we slept on couches in our living room. We paid for removal of the carpet but they left the staples in the floor and carpet around the radiators. When asked if that was standard procedure they said that sometimes if there are too many staples they leave them in but stated "you will barely even feel them through the carpet pad" For six thousand dollars i would expect no not feel any staples. The list goes on and on the issues we had. Their competition up the street said that absolutely the removal should have included pull the staples. Once they received our money there was no communication. Numerous times I asked for a follow up call which never happened. Between my wife and I, we ended up having to take 7 days off of work to get carpet installed. On multiple occasions the installers showed up without any knowledge of where the carpet was being installed (upstairs) so were unable to install due to the fact that they could not get the carpet up the stairs by themselves. Spend your money elsewhere, this place is a joke. If you value your time (and vacation hours) stay clear of the Floor Center.

It was a brand new credit card and the only people to have handled the card are the installer and myself. Fortunately, my credit card company coveed the charges but when I reported this to Empire, they apparently did an investigation without any input from me and decided no fraud occured and closed the ticket (without telling me). EMPIRE IS STILL USING THE SUBS and this is a warning to anyone in the Twin Cities area that Empire DOES NOT CARE they are using criminals to install their carpet. Think twice before you buy from them.

I had a defective floor that Hamernicks had installed…read more First they would not help me until the builder of my home paid a delinquent bill, that had nothing to do with my floor. This took about a month. Then they said they filed a claim with the Manufacturer. Two months later told me that they mistakenly had not filed the claim. Once all this was done. They gave me an estimate and then said they had made a mistake and raised the price $1100. I contacted their CEO and made her aware of the problem. Never heard back, so my fear is that their lack of concern for their customer starts at the very top. My opinion is if you are looking for an efficient, accurate and customer focused company. I was looking for inexpensive carpet to be installed quickly and had been to both Home Depot and Lowes. I was SO frustrated by the lack of knowledge of the store employees and stressed about having to make an appointment with a 3rd party, potentially get an asbestos test and not fully knowing WHEN everything would be completed. I mentioned my situation while at a luncheon and 2 separate neighbors suggested I call CBL. Boy am I glad I did!! Not only did CBL have a much better quality and color selection of quick install carpet but Frank, one of the owners, came out to measure and provided a quote. The quote was very similar in price to the big box stores. Carpets were installed by a super detail oriented team within 5 days of my original call. Everything was perfect! Then the rains and warmer weather came and the basement flooded 3 days after our carpet was installed. Frank and his team went way beyond anything I could have imagined and offered to come and pick up the carpet and bring it to their warehouse to dry out. The team is now ready to reinstall when we are sure basement is dry. I will forever be a CBL customer and will continue to share my awesome experience with anyone who will hear me. They are very professional and knowledgable about flooring. I made at least 5 trips into the store for color selection and sample check outs. They came out to my home to help me finalize my selections. They even offered help with wall colors too. I think the pricing is fair comparing CBL to the larger big box stores. The main difference is that this is a family owned business and it is clear that their customers come first. I would not hesitate to use them again. I am now in the process of looking at their selections of blinds from Hunter Douglas. I highly recommend this company.
