I followed him from his practice in Maple Valley and it is well worth the drive. I recently moved back to WA and Dr. Shah was a life saver when he replaced two broken crowns for me (done by a different dentist) He got me into his schedule last minute but most importantly he took his time to make them right. Dr. Shah is a very experienced dentist and highly educated. And so is his staff! They move like a well oiled machine. Not only are they great at what they do, they really make you feel welcome and comfortable. If you have any fear of the dentist this is the place for you! They have easy parking available right out front and there are plenty of seats in the waiting room. There was one person working at the desk that was occupied with another customer so I waited for a couple of minutes.The place itself is clean, modern, and has a small section that provides coffee for guests. As a new patient, they needed to do an examination that entails about an hour and a half of x rays and photos. After doing the examination, I came back to do the cleaning with Dr. Chiang, she was extremely nice, helpful, and gave her own advice for the best cleaning. However, if you have sensitive teeth i'd recommend letting her know because she does go deeply into your gums for plaque, and it does hurt a bit. She was extremely kind and was super gentle with my teeth, and even described each process and step she was doing. What lost a star for me, the assistant finished up my cleaning by flossing, brushing, and polishing my teeth, she would just do things in your mouth without telling you it. Before polishing, she just stuffed my bottom row of teeth with a cotton pad and aggressively went back and forth, it hurt horribly. I mentioned to her that i'd appreciate her letting me know what she does, especially if it can be out of the blue, or a bit aggressive feeling. Despite her assisting Dr. Chiang during my cleaning, I assumed she realized that I appreciate understanding each process of my cleaning, as my teeth can get sensitive, and as most patients, we'd like to understand what is done.

I paid over 6k out of pocket to have a tooth extracted and an implant put in, 2700 of that was just for the implant. 36 hours after the procedure, the post for the implant tooth fell out. Obviously concerned I called and he had me bring the post back in and he looked at my gums, said everything was ok, and we would decide how to proceed after the gum/jaw healed. The implant tooth never went in. He never followed up, he never mentioned it again, he moved practices and assured me he would take care of it when he got moved. After repeatedly asking him about it and being brushed off (while also being told I needed thousands of dollars of more work done) while coming in for regular cleanings......I finally decided I wanted to call him and talk to him about it. 3 phone messages over few week span and got no call back. But when I had a tooth start hurting and left another message.... they called right away. When I came in and needed work done on the hurtijg tooth, I asked him about the implant and the fact I had paid $2700 for an implant that never went in.... HE LAUGHED AT ME and told me "I can get you a deal on another implant." I was livid and honestly didn't know how to react to someone behaving this way. He then told me he had already been credited by the manufacturer for said implant, but that was a long time ago and now he owed his manufacturer so that would be of no help to me (he later claimed he never said that, but he 100% did.) So now allegedly he is contacting the manufacturer to potentially get me some sort of credit or I don't know what. But he told me 6 weeks ago he would get back to me in 2 weeks.......I HAVE HEARD. NOTHING back. He's given me the run around for over 2 years, and meanwhile never once discussed with me what my options were for treatment, or for how to handle the missing tooth i have. I paid for a procedure that didn't work, and I understand that can sometimes happen. But he repeatedly blamed me because "my body is sensitive" and did nothing to take any share of the responsibility for it OR even try to help me figure out what I could/should do. I can accept that things go wrong in medical procedures, but I can't and won't accept people being rude, condescending, brushing me off, or lying to me about money. I FOR SURE am not okay with a medical professional LAUGHING AT ME when I bring up a concern. (He did late apologize when I called him out on it, but sorry....not ok.) And I am not a 1 time patient, I'm someone who spent roughly 20 grand out of pocket with him. Very clunky and cumbersome intake process 2. Very unstable payment portal process mix of Dentrix (non-native Fintech) and some unknown third-party, which does not have reminders or auto-draw forcing you to share your financial details with roving staff via questionable security measures 3. Dr. Kim (male with mask) and Julia (office manager) are stand-offish and hollow, going through the motions, and did not make any effort to remember things as basic as: not scheduling appointments when patrons have moved out of the state, keeping a courtesy payment reminder active, updating Px about payment submission changes, shaking hands, or extending basic greetings in the waiting area. 4. They will argue away their avoiding of the Surprise Billing statute, by charging you extra before rendering the receipt of sale, meaning, if there is an agreed payment plan, the fee schedule is subject to change during the encounter if the provider deems it necessary to tack on additional fees-for-services rendered. They put you through the screening but use the built-in excuse that the screening tools are limited and things 'come-up' during the procedures. 5. The dental problem, despite the ~$2,500 tab, is still a problem, and seems like only a temporary fix was applied, to encourage a return visit for more services/charges to be levied. The tools used seemed functional and up-to-date, but beyond this the overall care quality presents as a place that has been gutted by turn-over, limited by location, and hamstringed by said personnel. Given the location and the personage mentioned, it would be best if alternatives were sought -- it is not worth the hassle or expense.

I went to a new dentist and the dentist and her assistant were top notched. Months later, I received my first bill saying I owed them money which copay was paid at each visit. Their office manager promised to look into my account but since she never called back, I reached out. Long story short, they were billing me fees that was either already paid by insurance or co-paid. This year I went to another dentist, paid my copay of $65 and have treatment set up with them. Received a surprise bill of another $65 and the office gal said insurance didn't like their bundle so now I have to pay another $65! So, I found Dr. Choi, now the third dentist in the area and spoke with their receptionist/office manager. Let them know that dentist #2 already claimed my benefits and asked what they can do for me. She said they would do the new patient $59 for me. Honestly, the office manager did not sound "warm" on the phone and I almost regretted making that appointment. Dr. Choi came to the lobby and get me personally. I was upfront and explained to her about my frustrations with "happy billings" and also the fact that the front desk asked me for my medical and dental insurance saying they are connected. I told Dr Choi that I paid for my dental insurance separately and she understood and only took my dental insurance information. Without sharing dentist #2 treatment plan with Dr. Choi, I allowed her to evaluate my teeth herself and came up with her own plan. I was quoted $2400 copay by dentist #2. They got on my treatment right away with a same day crown and the treatment Dr. Choi recommended and paid a total of $824! Met two assistants and they are very pleasant, the office is clean and modern. The front desk employee/office manager did warm up in person too. Definitely give them a try.
