Dr. Andy Trinh and the team at Totem Lake Dental are wonderful. During my appointment today, they went above and beyond to address a complication I wasn't even aware of. He identified an unexpected issue during my visit and took care of it immediately to ensure I was healthy and comfortable. It's rare to find a dentist who prioritizes patient outcomes so clearly. Not coming back! Not happy with service

Long story short: this dentist failed to inform me that they were out of network with my insurance until after services were performed. I was only told about their insurance network status when they foisted a $150 bill on me for basic cleaning and xray fees that would have been fully covered if the office was in network. Even then I had to repeatedly question the receptionist about the bill to get them to clarify that the office was out of network for my insurer. They gave me a soulless, empty apology about this. They assured me that they do their best to inform every patient about insurance network status, but this is obvious garbage given their failure to inform me. They were unwilling to take any responsibility for their own failure here, and insisted I pay the $150 bill. I only paid the bill because I knew I had no legal recourse. As far as I'm concerned, they robbed me. Needles to say, I will be finding a new dentist. read more

Let's be real, no one likes going to the dentist. Everyone has their reasons but mine was not wanting to be lectured, shamed, or made to feel guilty. When I arrived for my cleaning everything was moving pretty slowly. I told the office I only had two hours in my schedule and asked when the dentist and hygienist would be available, keep in mind I'm now sitting in the dentist's chair. I'm told it will take at least 2.5hrs to do the cleaning when I asked if we had to do the x-rays with the cleaning I was told it's "Illegal" to do the cleaning without x-rays. It became clear they double booked me that morning because my next question was when would the hygienist be ready for me and I was told not for another 30 minutes (that would've been an hour after my appointment time). Funny thing is this isn't the first time this has happened. Appears this has office has become all about volume with no regard for customers schedules. This is all after they said they had to fill a crevice (just to be safe you know!) in a tooth which then has hurt ever since. I remember when this office was new and had service but since then the good staff is gone and now I need to find a new dentist who values peoples time and schedule. #LostTheirWay read more

I have now been going to Totem Lake Dental for YEARS and really getting to know this friendly dentist who loves music, never ages (what is his secret?!), and is very personable and kind. Everyone who works there comments on how much they love working there. That speaks volumes. read more

I just moved to Kirkland and I was in need of a dentist. It's been a few years since I've been to one because I was in school these last couple of years. I was given friendly information about my initial steps and what I could look forward to and also how payment would be. Yeda was the receptionist who helped me and she was nice and informative. Katrina was my dental hygienist and she had a great sense of humor and was knowledgeable. She explained everything she was doing and made sure I understood or had any questions. Dr. Trinh was super nice and really walked me through my teeth and the breakdown of where I was at and how they were looking. I really enjoyed the involvement and making sure I understood and had questions. Overall, great experience, great team! read more

I had been to Totem Lake Dental recently, and they recommended deep cleaning. One day 1, they completed one quadrant, and then they scheduled for another one today. They completed 2 quadrants today and scheduled third appointment to complete the cleaning. They informed me that insurance does not allow doing more than 2 quadrants in a day. I felt odd to hear this, so I called my insurance. According to the insurance's instructions, the dentist can finish any number of quadrants in one day, they can do all 4 in one day too. I am surprised to be misinformed by the staff at this place. read more

I recently switched dentists and chose Totem Lake Dental because I was mistakenly under the impression that I used to go here as a kid. Turns out, I used to go to Totem Lake Dentistry about five minutes away. Regardless, my first experience here was fantastic. It lasted about two hours, with the first hour taking full x-rays and color photos of each tooth. Dr. Andy looked at my teeth and talked with me for 10-15 minutes, and the remaining time was spent by the hygienist cleaning my teeth. Dr. Andy and I connected over my previous dentist, who is one of his former professors at UW School of Dentistry. One of the reasons I chose Totem Lake Dental (besides having a bad memory and there coincidentally being two similarly named Totem Lake dentist practices within one mile from each other) is that Dr. Andy graduated from UW School of Dentistry. I have several friends who also graduated from UW School of Dentistry, and I used to go to UW Dental Faculty Practice to get my teeth examined and cleaned, so I can attest to their quality of teaching and care. I highly recommend this practice! Side note: Parking is not bad but the lot is not well designed. There are multiple ways to get in and out of the plaza where this practice is located, but there are many other stores and restaurants that share the parking lot. The plaza is located near the freeway and near a major street, so exiting the lot can be tricky if you're making a left turn around lunchtime or rush hour. read more

Went in to get a gap filled between teeth where a filling fell out. Andy did lots of drilling and filled the cavity but then I had extreme sensitivity to hot and cold in a nearby tooth that I had never experienced before. Even with the gap I could drink cold water, eat ice cream, or drink hot coffee, all of which I can no longer do since visiting Totem Lake Dental. I went in two weeks later, after calling several times during the week, still complaining of extreme sensitivity to hot and cold but Dr. Andy blew my concerns off and wanted to continue with different teeth. I had to walk out to prevent him from damaging other parts of my mouth. A few months later I need to see a new dentist to address the extreme sensitivity I now have. read more

My favorite dentist! Dr Trinh and the staff at Totem Lake are all so kind and friendly. I have never had better teeth. They have accomodated my peppermint allergy (so awkward), and they are sensitive to my sore jaw during dental work. To anyone who needs dental care, this is the best place to go. :) read more

The mark of an awesome dentist is when you know you will follow them wherever they go! That's exactly what happened with Dr. Andy. When he left his last practice to start his own, I made sure to follow him so I could continue receiving the same great care I had been for the last few years. The new space is great and easily accessible and the staff is great! But, most importantly, Dr. Andy is still the same gentle, easy-going, calming, knowledgeable dentist I know and love. A big bonus; all that he offers is super modern and high tech, so I know I'm receiving the newest tried and true care as well. Side note: I just got Invisalign! Dr. Andy and his staff are making that process super easy and painless! Couldn't be happier! Everything about this place was a great experience. They give reminders and that's very helpful, especially for forgetful people like me. The dental assistants and hygienist that attended me were patient and super engaging. Dr. Trinh was knowledgeable and kind. Dr .Cho is an exceptional doctor and an outstanding guy. I go here for my cleanings, I've had him remove my wisdom teeth, and fill a couple cavities. It went as smoothly as possible every time. His staff has been wonderful to me. Laura at the front desk is also very friendly, helpful, and professional. I have concerns about this dentist. Both my husband and I went here a while back, in response to a promotional offer and he informed us both that we each had eight cavities (neither of us had ever had more than two before). We were very surprised, but it seemed plausible. We both needed to have two sessions to get the cavities all taken care of, and both times Dr. Cho went to numb me, he managed to stab a nerve in my gums that hurt *badly,* even when I asked him to be extra careful the second time (and this has never happened to me with any other dentist). Also, one of my husband's fillings fell out the next week and he had to go back a third time to get it replaced (though to Dr. Cho's credit, the replacement was free). I have no way to know for sure if all our purported cavities were legitimate, but we never saw xrays or anything and I have doubts (which really isn't a feeling you want your dentist to give you), and I wish I'd gone to another dentist to get a second opinion after his first assessment or at least asked to see what he was looking at ... it just never occurred to me at the time to question it. I haven't posted this review before because I didn't want to damage his business if this was all just a misunderstanding on my part, but it continues to bother me in case it really is a problem that others might face. So I'll just say, please proceed with caution and ask for evidence or get second opinions. read more

Dr. Cho is the first dentist who paused to ask me if anything hurt and it was the first time I'm so happy with my dental care. The crowns that he did for me feels great. The assistant and front desk people are considerate, caring and great professionals. He is a professional and has a naturally lovely personality. I would recommend Dr. Cho to everyone.
