Came here for the list of good reviews. I had dropped off a pair of pants I needed done for a wedding and informed them I needed them 6 days later before a certain time as I was flying out. I arrived at the designated time 6 days later and to my surprise they could not Find my pants and were scrambling to find them. They ended up telling me that they are at one of the employees home and they were not even done. Then I had to wait at the store until they drove home and got my pants. Super frustrating and not very professional. Will not be returning as a customer. read more

This place has terrible customer service. I came in 3 weeks ago and bought an ao dai. Asked them to make ao dai pants for me and they said it will be ready by Fri (2 weeks later). I came back on Friday for them to tell me they haven't even started on it yet. I was kind of upset but thought they deserved another chance. However, they didnt even apologize. Then, they told me to come back four days later and it will be ready FOR SURE. It's now Tuesday and I gave them a phone call, they told me it's not done yet?? And put me on hold for a long time. Not only that, but they told me their credit card machine was "broken" so I can pay them cash when the machine looked fine to me. Keep in mind ao dais aren't cheap, & I paid them up front. Makes me think they only cared about my $, and now they are taking their time making my pants. I would rather pay more money at an american business to avoid the stress and inconvience. But unfortunately, there are no other places that makes ao dai pants around the area. Horrible horrible service. Will not be coming back here. read more

I had a pair of hiking pants that were too long, so I got them hemmed here. I can't even tell the difference between the old and new see, the price was affordable, it was done in under a week, and Mr. Nguyen was very nice. I would highly recommend coming here if you need a tailor. read more

I really used to love this place. I went there almost once a month for alterations and repairs. That is until they lost 2 pairs of my somewhat pricey jeans. One pair of Joes and one pair of David Kahns. Equal to $350 worth of jeans. I understand mistakes happen...but when the seamstress couldn't find them she wanted me to leave and come back and I said no, I would like you to look for them now, she became a little frantic. When she couldn't produce the jeans she insinuated that I had not actually dropped any off or my partner had picked them up. I left with the promise that she would look again. I left with no apology. She called me later and again blamed me and my partner, as they couldn't find the ticket. This is surprising as you are never given a receipt AND the place is brimming with clothes. I am not sure she would be able find it anyways. Bottom, they are clearly too busy and not professional enough. I am not going anywhere that doesn't give a receipt or a deadline for pickup. Insult upon injury by being blamed is bad enough too. Its not worth losing your favorite pricey boyfriend jeans!! read more

This place is great at alteration. I had my wedding dress, ao dai and evening gowns altered here. It all came out great, but the time it took for them to complete the alterations took longer than the time frame they promised me. This place is affordable for the good quality of alterations. The ladies I've interacted with are nice. Sometimes there's a bit of a language barrier but nothing that hinders the experience or the end result in the tailored clothes. I've brought in multiple business casual clothing items along with a couple of dresses. I typically have item taken in or hemmed, all of which are reasonable prices typically costing me $10 or less. I also referred all of my bridesmaids to go here to get there dress hemmed and all were happy with it. I also had a custom made white lace ao dai made for my wedding to wear in the later half of our reception, but unfortunately I forgot to wear it! At least I have a beautiful ao dai to wear down the road. It was fun being able to look through pictures and the various ao dai in the store and pick and choose colors, fabrics, and lace. It's certainly a small place, making it hard to maneuver through the store. But it's manageable. They accept credit card. Street parking can be busy at times, so just park in a neighborhood 1 block north or somewhere else nearby. read more

I'm 5'6" and even if I wore 3 inch heels (which I absolutely don't), then most jeans on the market would STILL be too long. All this to say that I needed a reliable tailor for my jean hemming needs, and this place does the trick. I came to Adam Tailoring based on yelp reviews and it's proximity to my house. Parking here is kind of awful. They only have street parking and once you're on Rainier, it's almost impossible to turn around with out making a million left turns to get back the other direction. Upon entering their store, you're over whelmed by how packed it is. They have TONS of Asian dresses, prom dresses, wedding dresses, etc all crammed inside. I was alittle worried they could possibly lose/misplace my order, but in the end they didn't. I had 1 chiffon dress that needed more room in the arm pit area. I believe I had asked the gal to just make the hole bigger by opening up the hem. I have a vague memory of her saying she would add more fabric to that area (which isn't what i wanted). But I was a little intimidated by the chaos of the shop, the language barrier, and my lack of knowledge with altering clothing that I just nodded/smiled and waited to see the end result. When I got my dress back she indeed added more fabric to the arm pit area. It fits just fine but i feel it looks strange if someone was to notice this. But it's all black and not really noticeable. C'est la vie My second item was an chiffon/polyester asymmetrical shirt/dress that needed to be let out near the bottom hem, on one side, to accommodate my hips. I tried it on (they have a little dressing room), showed her how high the slit needed to go and she fixed it perfectly. I'm really happy with how it turned out. They were able to accommodate the date I needed my items back by and the price was reasonable ($14). However, they didn't ask me to try anything on after they were altered. I was worried something would be wrong when i got home and would have to return. Thankfully everything was fine after the first go. I will consider coming back if I ever need anything altered. But I will make sure to be very specific in my request and ask for clarification to push away any concern i may have. read more

The fact that I took out the time to sign up for an account so I can complain about my experience should say a lot already - the WORST customer service ever! My sisters and I were completely ignored in the store the whole time. They didn't look like they wanted to sell us the ao dai we wanted. They made up a lot of excuses so we couldn't try them on. But yet, they were really nice to others who came into their store for clothes alteration. I was so angry walking out of that store. All I wanted to do was buy a wedding ao dai, but that experience was definitely not worth the frustration! If you want to buy ao dai there, just don't do there. They were completely rude. I came here for the first time last year when I needed help altering a bridesmaid dress. They did a great job then, and they did a great job when I recently brought them another bridesmaid dress. The ladies are very friendly and quick, and the prices are very reasonable. Last year my dress alterations were pretty substantial, and I think the total was around $50. This year they took my dress in on both sides, going through both silk and a thick lace, and it cost $20. Now it fits perfectly and looks great. read more

I ordered a Bridesmaid's Dress from David's Bridal online, sight unseen, and 2 sizes too big. I knew I would have to get it tailored to fit me, but most of the tailors I looked at wanted obscene amounts of money. I was not keen on spending more money than the cost of the dress itself just for a dress I would only wear once. The ladies at Adam Tailoring were really nice, and they gave me a quote for only $85 to take the dress in. They also did the alterations in only 5 days. When I picked the dress up, it fit perfectly. When I went home to California for the wedding, my mom looked at the dress and said they did an amazing job and it didn't even look like it had been altered. The style of my dress made it a bit difficult to create a bustle, but I was given a variety of options and styles, and she came up with one that I loved. well... so i had a qipao made online which did not fit me at all. It made me look pregnant, and I was PISSED because I have a super-flat stomach (and I worked hard for it damnit!).. there's no way I'm going to look pregnant in my WEDDING qipao! I needed it altered.. fast these guys were pretty fast.. the turn-around time was a week. However, what should have been a pretty easy tailoring job (take in the extra fabric around the waist) left me pretty dissapointed. It was better, but still not perfect.. now i look like i'm 3 months pregnant wearing that dress. After I went back 3 times to get it readjusted, I just took it as is because I didn't have any more time to spend (i.e. WASTE) trying to alter the dress. i'm sure a better tailor could have done a perfect job (should have gone to a perfect fit sooner!) but.. well for $18 I don't feel gipped, but I wouldn't come back here unless I had a really easy job, like hemming long pants. I'm still hoping I can get it fixed in time for my wedding.. if you've got it why not flaunt it? read more

I brought in my gown and I probably estimated it to be between $200-$400 for the alteration to expand the back of my bridesmaid gown. She added an extra fabric and made a criss-cross corset design. It was beautifully done and I was only charged $45!!! I guess their busy season is in the summer so make sure to call before you go pick-up your gowns because my pick-up date was pushed forward twice!!...hence minus the 5th star rating. read more

I went here in August, upon the reviews I thought my experience would be great. I let the older lady (mngr) knw I needed alterations completed promptly. I gave them a week's time to finish since going out of twn. I tried on all of my clothes explained in detail what I want done she put pins in each area. I had 2 jumpsuits. I needed one to be taken dwn a bit it was too long, each time I told her needed it shorter she'd say no when you wear heels it will be too high...I told her I don't wear any. Also needed the neckline sewed b/c plunged too low. The other jumpsuit had a zipper in back I needed overall taking in on the item, she gave a huge sigh as if I was inconveniencing her since wld hve to tke out zipper when taking in.3rd item was romper which had hollow back. Specifically asked since enough fabric was avail to close the back part that was open, she said ok ill do it for you. 4th item was summer dress which was the only item I was slightly satisfied with. When I went to pick up there was a pin still present on the jumpsuit I needed to sewn in neckline and my romper hollow back was not closed in as agreed and my third jumpsuit was still loose and long for me...I was highly upset their only comeback was they can fix with more time which I didn't hve. They didn't bother to reduce the charge which I thought was ludicrous, paid $65 for jst mediocre job. They argued back with me as if I was at fault. Definitely a no go, no more. read more

I purchased a pair of Joe's Jeans that were much too long about two weeks ago. I wanted to bring my new jeans on a weekend getaway as they are super comfortable. The day I decided to bring my jeans in was on Labor Day. The two alteration shop close to home weren't open. I called Adam Tailoring & to my surprise; they were open until 7PM. I asked if I could get my jeans back by Thursday & they said that's fine. My gf took me there in her car as she lives a few blocks away. She turned up onto S Alaska ST & right onto 35th AVE S & right onto Oregon ST & then made a right back onto Rainier to park in front of the shop. They accept Visa & MC; not Amex. We arrived about 1:30PM Monday & greeted me. They measured the length I desired with the shoes I'd wear. The gal confirmed the length. Thursday morning I contacted Adam to confirm my jeans would be ready; they said yes. I went to pick up my jeans after 3PM. I was excited to try on the jeans; they fit perfectly! When I first started going to Adam's Tailor Shop, I was very pleased. The work was completed in a timely manner and both the quality and price were good. Unfortunately, things went downhill. They would promise that my alterations would be completed by a certain date, and when I would go to pick them up, they were not ready. This happened with every garment that I took there. The last time I went there, I brought in a garment to be hemmed. They made a huge mistake and would not take responsibility for the error. So, in order to get my money refunded, I had to purchase the same garment from the store and take it to them in order to show proof that they made a mistake. Even with proof, the mother still denied it and started yelling at me. Luckily the daughter stepped in and refunded my money. I will never go to them again. read more

I go in regularly for alterations and repairs. Everyone is very nice and do great work! Prices are reasonable. I'd give them 5 stars, but at least half the time my clothes are not done on the date they write when I drop my clothes off. Often I'm not in any particular hurry to get the clothes, but would rather not spend my time going there more than once. One time I did need the clothes for a trip and it was a big deal that they weren't done. They stayed late so I could pick them up after work which was very nice, but it would have been better to get them when they were supposed to be done. read more

i'm trying to attach pics of my stained / incorrect altered dress. they told me to send them pics via text and i did. they were responding at first then stopped. they wouldn't take responsibility for their wrongdoings. they charged more than what they quoted me, stained my $$$ bridesmaid dress, was not done in time twice. i have all the texts from our communication and pics to attach but for some reason it would not download. do not go to this place. they will not admit to their faults, pretend like they don't speak english, very unprofessional, blame you for their own wrong doings, and will not even meet you halfway to refund all or SOME of your $$. again just very plain rude and NOT responsive. i'm all about supporting a family business and i was going here for awhile. but come to think of it they don't really care if they make mistakes. they will not admit to it, will not fix them, charge you more than they quote. way to pretend you don't speak english, adam tailor, when i was trying to explain and show pictures of your wrongdoings! if you want your dress to not be stained, tailored right in a promise timeline, pay for what you were quoted for and support an honest business go elsewhere!!!! read more

The seamstresses at Adam Tailor on Rainier Ave in Seattle are gifted at their craft. They've provided great customer service over several years. I've returned many times for basic & complex tailoring needs...priced reasonably. The staff is polite, accommodating, & calm ...for patrons in distress. Recently, my son needed less than 24 hour service for a poorly tailored suit jacket that had been serviced by another business. Adam Tailor performed the repairs beautifully & in time for wedding pictures the next day. The only reason that I don't give 5 stars is because of quirky location. read more

Without reservation, I would trust them with high-end jeans. The original hem alteration (important if your jeans have a hand-done weathered look) is only $12. They treated my $10 thrift store jeans with the care I would expect for more expensive jeans. There is finally a new signal at that intersection, so if you're arriving on foot you don't have to walk all the way to Walgreens or the funeral home just to cross the street. Street parking can be tricky in this area. I combine a visit to Adam Tailor with a shopping errand at Walgreens, so that I can legitimately park in their lot. read more
