Thank you Sharon Adams! I recently received an email from an (apparently) sleazy intellectual property lawyer. The email (more than) implied that if I didn't register my company name as a trademark, someone else he was working with could gain exclusive use to my company name. The email continues by asking if I might want to work with him to trademark my company name. I called Ms. Adams' law office and received a 15 minute gratis phone appointment on the very next day. In our consultation she confirmed my suspicion that the email was bullshit, and basically, a deceptive, unethical marketing ploy to drive business to that attorney. Under California law, an established business has rights to its own name in the region in which it is established. Unfortunately, she turned out to be like every other lawyer who overcharges for work done and bills unnecessary items, which is unethical and against the legal code of conduct. When I presented her with proof of time stamped emails showing the time she has spent on the work done vs what she had billed, she completely revoked herself as our attorney on file. Can't argue with the truth it seems. The uspto didn't record the work she had done , and then issued an erroneous NOA after she had called them, all of which seems rather suspicious to me, as this was unprecedented in other trademarks we have registered. Sharon is a trademark lawyer, which yelp has no catagory for. I got caught by a predatory company that uses bots to scan the internet for illegal image use. They found. two old blogs that had not been on my website for years but were still searchable and wanted to fine me $1000, Sharon told me that one of the uses could be argued as fair use and suggeted I try to bargain with them. The company lowered my fee to $600. My conversation with Sharon only took a few minutes on the phone. She wasted no time and told me exactly what I needed to know. read more

I am really grateful for the time that Sharon is spending with me on a trademark application. I initially gave the application to my admin assistant and we didn't know what we were doing, to say the least! When I got a reject notice from the USTPO my admin said "time to hire a professional". Fast forward, Sharon Adams is helping me understand what components are not working in our favor of getting legally recognized TM. This business continues to spam everyone who files a trademark with an email that sounds enthusiastic to work with you. However, I decided to give them a chance to help me since they kept emailing me but I should have taken that robotic follow-up email as a red flag. My case was a little complicated so I think they just saw that and decided I'm not worth their time. After a vague email rejecting my interest in their services, they never communicated with me again. However, their robot emailer still did. They just leave all the work to you! To reach out but also to unsubscribe. Hey, I never subscribed in the first place. You just decided to spam me with your services only to decline my interest in your help and kept spamming. I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone. I don't get the impression they are helpful or that they care about you at all when they have robots do the legwork of finding clients only to rudely decline your business without explaining why. My first thought was that she was a skilled attorney who knew what I needed. I was wrong. After our consultation, she agreed to help me register my trademark. Long story short, she ended up telling me she cannot register my trademark and charged me $500 for a phone call and couple of emails. I would not recommend services from this law firm.
