While there is a small elderly population, most of the people who attend are Modern Orthodox people in their 20s and early 30s. It is very lively, and you can definitely expect to have the opportunity to meet new people if you check it out. Don't be intimidated by the large crowd during kiddush, and just introduce yourself to someone explaining that you're new. I have occasionally gone to the services and the dinners of this synagogue that has managed to…read moresurvive more than 100 years in a community that has constantly changed over the generations. I have made the acquaintance of two rabbis that have lead the congregation over the years. Both have managed to combine Orthodox Judaism with the modern world and provide inspirational teaching and leadership. I have usually found the synagogue's dinners entertaining as both the gourmet and historic dimensions of various kosher cuisines of various traditions are explored. The rabbis and the congregation have been most welcoming to Jews and non-Jews alike.
