This review is long overdue. Juan did a fantastic job with our floors. We had all the carpet (living room, stairs, and all upstairs' rooms) replaced with Mohawk Boardwalk Collective Beachwood laminate. Friends and family who have visited our newly remodeled home can't believe that the floors are laminate- they look and feel like hardwood. We ordered materials from OnFlooring (btw great customer service and cheaper compared to stores in the area) delivered directly to our house on two pallets. Juan was very detailed oriented and on time- he spent 1-1.5 hrs measuring our place and drew an exact diagram of the carpeted area. He took his time to measured our larger custom stairs to make sure we had the right number of stairnoses to order and to figure out the flooring underneath (we ended up needing some leveling compound near the stairs). With his estimate, we ordered 7% more materials as he suggested and it was perfect- we didn't end up with a bunch of material leftover. Another contractor we had reached out to for an estimate did a rush job with measuring (10 mins with a laser), didn't check out what floors were underneath, and we probably would have had to re-order additional material. Juan was very knowledgeable and communicative- he answered all our questions in a timely manner thru text and emails. He gave us an estimate of 9 days of work for this large project and met that goal. His labor cost was also very reasonable compared to other contractors we spoke with. Juan just finished installing my floors today. They look amazing!! My flooring project went very well because of Juan's attention to the details. Juan came out to my home in February and gave me the ins and outs of laminate flooring. He measured and sent me a detailed estimate over email. He also carefully spelled out what my responsibility was as the customer and what he would do as the installer. He will only install quality product, which I appreciated. Customers are required to purchase the flooring from a retailer. I like that because I know there is no mark-up on the installer's end. He made recommendations for where I could purchase the flooring that I wanted at the best price. I saved a ton of money going with the flooring retailer he recommended. He also helped me load it and bring it to my home. Communication with Juan over email and text was very easy leading up to the day of installation. He confirmed each day when he would arrive and when he would leave. Juan and his assistant worked tirelessly all day long. My dining room, living room, and hallway took just 2-1/2 days. I was mostly home while they worked. I could see Juan carefully choosing which pieces would go where on the floor to give that random look. When it came to cutting the trim pieces, he was down on the floor, carefully making the cuts. I heard the tape measure constantly going in and out. He was making sure each piece would fit just right. I am so thankful to a friend who recommended Juan. He is extremely professional, thorough and affordable. Instead of expensive lamination flooring, he suggested Costco which had a deal going on similar lamination flooring. We must have saved almost $1,000 on the material. He helped me pick-up and drop off the heavy boxes of planks. The estimate he gave on cost on labor was the lowest when I compared to others and he didn't charge a single penny extra for the extra time he had to put on our stairs. After seeing all of the high rated reviews this company has, I thought it to be very strange that my very short experience with this company was awful. I called this company to extend an invitation to bid a project in California. Once he picked up the phone, I explained the reason for my call, but the reception starting going out as he was replying, and I kindly stated that I could not hear him. He then stated again that he was very busy and I told him I had just explained the reason for my call, as if he wasn't paying attention in the first place. At this point, he proceeds to laugh at me and hangs up shortly after. Not exactly how I would treat a potential customer, and wouldn't recommend this company to my most hated enemies. read more

Juan Manual Simg proved himself to be an unreliable contractor. As mentioned in various other reviews, in our preliminary interactions, we found him to be punctual, and a meticulously detailed person. But his temperament evidently got in the way of completing the task. During the three weeks we worked with Mr Simg, he came to our home to inspect and measure, quote his charges in writing and explain what and how he would do the work. Prior to the date he scheduled with us for the installation, as he required, we had removed old carpeting and all appliances and furniture and had cleaned the slab. We had purchased and waiting on site for him all of the flooring materials and other supplies (transition moldings, self-leveling compound, etc) he had requested. Yet on the day before the installation was to take place, when he came to do the final slab preparation, he unilaterally decided he would did not want to do our project, and abruptly left our home. He told us he decided that he could not do the work to meet our expectations, which were only for him to install the flooring in accordance with the specifications of the flooring manufacturer. Apparently, this was too high a standard for Mr. Simg. read more

I was so lucky to find Juan thru Yelp. He is such an excellent installer. When he came to have the estimation, he patiently explained and gave advices on choosing laminated floor and underlayment. The cost is reasonable. He also helped us to deliver the materials from the floor store without extra cost. During the installation, ~ Juan came to my home @ 8:30am every day. Juan is an engineer, and that shows in the way he approached my flooring needs. His initial estimate was super detailed, with accurate dimensions and he calculated the square footage of laminate he would be laying down to decimal points. He made great suggestions on the laminate choices, and helped me pick it up at the store. The work that Juan and his team did was meticulous, and he did not cut any corners in making our floor look beautiful. He was very punctual, helped with the furniture, and cleaned up each day after he was done. His attention to detail alone is worth much more than what he charged for the job. He not only got the hob done, but also advised me on caring for the new floor. A couple of things stand out for me when I recommend Juan 1.Juan advised me against laying down laminate in the bathroom, and suggested a vinyl that matched the rest of my floor. Best piece of advice. 2. Juan alerted me to a coupon for the laminate ... after w had already bought it. And I was able to make use of the coupon to get a refund on the difference. Juan is a very thorough and professional flooring installer. We saw his work at my best friend's place and immediately decided to call him on for laminate installation at our place. He came to my home and took a very detailed set of measurements and sent me a copy of the plan. He also made several useful suggestions about what quality of flooring to buy and came to 3 different stores including the final one where we bought. He drove his truck all the way to Monterey area store where we could find enough boxes of the laminate flooring needed for the job. As per the plan he gave to us, he said he will take 5 days to complete the entire job, but he finished it in 4 and a half days and that too with one room where he had to repeat the job twice due to some water damage. He also helped me move heavier things and appliances around the home. He had a liking for getting his job done perfectly and in the most efficient manner and it showed in every step of the job.
