For background, I got several quotes for a 29 steps stairway flooring project and potential vendors either didn't respond after initially reaching out or the companies never responded after stating they would provide quotes when asked. That wasn't the case for VM Flooring. They were very communicative from the beginning. I also experienced vendors stating the job would take 1-3 days whereas VM flooring took about a week and 3 days. Why? Because they focus on quality, the details and not rushing. I can only imagine how terrible the end result would have been had I gone with vendors who said the 29 step stairway project would take less than a week. I was also able to buy my materials directly from VM Flooring which made things easier as well. I've worked with companies that outsourced the work to non experts in the field and it's been a disaster. This company keeps everything in house: who you see come to do the work are the ones who will actually do the work. Anatoly completed my stairway, he is a genius, and a true expert in the field, licensed and bonded. Be weary of individuals who come to complete the quote for any project, and then on the day the project starts, you never see the person again, as they outsource the labor to non experts. I would work with Jack and Anatoly in a heartbeat because of several reasons: they treated my home with care, even my anxious cat loved them, were safe (texted me whenever someone they didn't recognize came to the home), made sure the door was locked (texted me), and just so amazing to work with throughout the week and a half. I needed to get flooring done on one side of my new duplex. I visited numerous flooring and installation stores over the course of a month and learned a great deal through the process. I wanted better quality than what you typically find at Home Depot, Lowe's, or Floor & Decor. I needed a place that sold high-quality LVP flooring in a white oak color, was professional in its installation, offered fair pricing, and, most importantly, could win my trust. Only two places checked all boxes -- Van Briggle in Campbell, CA, and VM Flooring here in Santa Clara, CA. Here's an honest lay of the land at the time of this review: almost every place offers LVP flooring for nearly the same price. (Vellichor, Gaia, etc.) It's going to be anywhere from $2.00-$5.00/sqft, and a higher price doesn't always translate to higher quality. If your salesmen can't tell you in detail why one is better than the other, besides just reading off the pamphlet about wear layers, you're in the wrong place. What will significantly vary in price is labor, which ranges from an additional $2.50 to $5.00 per square foot. You want to choose a place that's confident in their installation and will walk you through the process in detail, standing by their work if things go wrong. What won me over was Chad. He's an exceptional, personable, no-nonsense salesman who made the experience pressure-free and insightful. I've spent hours talking with him at this point, and he's been invaluable in everything from coordinating with Jack and the installers to answering all of my questions at any time of day and guiding me to exactly what I wanted, even helping me out with pricing. His experience and passion are evident in conversation. When you talk to Chad, you know you're in good hands, which is why I gave my business to VM Flooring over Van Briggle. If Chad were to go elsewhere, I'd gleefully follow along without hesitation. We encountered a slight hiccup when an installer, Anatoly, removed my electrical panel for an unknown reason, which resulted in minor damage to the drywall. Their other installer, Sergei, argued with me for a minute, refusing to accept fault. However, I texted Chad and Jack, and they rectified the issue the next day at no cost to me. I trusted them to finish installing the flooring, quarter-rounds, crawlspace cover, and baseboards while I was out on vacation, and I came back to a job well done. The hard part is that every business gives a different "best story." All the contractors we spoke with also had so many different pros and cons... Atmosphere - See above and my pictures. Open 7 days a week; see my picture, their website, and Yelp. All hours differ slightly. So it is best to call to confirm. Shared parking lot with the other successful businesses. Jack and his workers (Rafael, Jesus, and one more worker whose name I didn't get) were all very nice and respectful. They finished my floors quicker than I expected. After carpet demolition, they noticed that a small area of my bedroom was squeaky and replaced the plywood of my subfloor before installing my new vinyl planks. They also replaced the plywood on my stairs to ensure that my new floors will last for a long time. I noticed a few scuffs on the stairs side boards after my floors were completely finished and Jack quickly resolved the issue by sending his painter to paint over the scuffs. I really appreciated that. It's very easy to communicate and get in touch with Jack via text or call. He always sent me updates every 1-2 days, sometimes with pictures. I'm a first time home buyer and didn't realize that installing new floors would cost this much but Jack's pricing is fair compared to the other contractors I talked to. I used VM recently for a pretty big project installing new hardwood floors on the ground floor of my home. A few years back (in a different house) used a well known flooring chain and the experience was a complete disaster - this was the exact opposite to that. We brought a bunch of floor samples home to see which one worked best. Once we chose what we wanted, Jack came by to inspect the site, get measurements for the quote etc. We were able to start the project very soon after that (just had to wait a few days for the wood to come in and then to acclimate in the house). The installers are VM employees, not contractors - this is very important. Do not let your flooring company subcontract. The install went seamlessly - demo happened in a few hours; the crew moved the large furniture without any problems and they worked fast. Install itself took a few days. These guys pay attention to detail - the work was of very high quality. 100% recommend VM and they're the first people I'll be calling for any future flooring needs. read more

The entire process from purchasing to project completion was seamless: Showed up at the store on a Thursday and was able to leave with some big sample pieces. There was actually a small mix up with the manufacturer of the wood, but Chad double checked the delivery before sending it out to us.
