You know how some contractors don't want you around while they work? Steve and his team actually asked me how far I wanted cuts or trims to go and took direction happily as we went along. Steve had his ideas and plans, but he wanted them tailored to what I wanted. His price wasn't the lowest but his knowledge and love of trees were worth it. Beware of Addison Tree & Outdoor Services: On April 15,2021 I hired Addison Tree to remove over 30 Black Locust trees from my property. The owner and sales manager saw the job and quoted a price to include removal and stump grinding and would complete the work in 4 days. They came with a crew of 6-7 and started out ok, but then it became a nightmare... - IF they showed up, they only worked a few hours - No communication as to if/when they would be at my property to work - Used my property as a TOILET! I have multiple dogs that found it, ate it, rolled in it and brought it inside my house, which necessitated a call to cleanup companies which informed me I needed to call a specialty BIOHAZARD cleanup company to take on the problem. As this foul incident occurred on a Friday evening, the Biohazard teams charge double the rates for weekends/evenings. To sanitize a home the size of mine would cost $8k. - My dog groomer also charges a biohazard fee and to wash and blow dry all my (multiple, long- coated, large) dogs with smeared, encrusted human feces she quoted $2k. - Addison Tree dumped about 40 yards of wood chips, some diseased from other properties, right next to my house. The chips generate heat and could have spontaneously combusted and cause a house fire. - The wood chips were dumped on my garden which killed the plants and made it difficult to clean up. - Logs were left haphazardly across the entire property so the grass could not be mowed, inviting ticks etc. and it looked like a tornado went through. - Big logs were left for weeks on my driveway making ingress/egress difficult - Fencing destroyed - Left brush in front of gates preventing ingress/egress - Tree dropped on a cement pad crushing it When confronted, the owner, who in my opinion, smelled of alcohol, stated he had bid the job too low and that I should pay him twice the contracted amount. He was unconcerned about the damage and devastation he caused to me and my property and tried to justify the time overage (supposed to take 4 days and it had been 7 weeks) and threw his crew under the bus, blaming them. After quotes from several other companies, I hired another company to clean up the mess Addison Tree left on my property . The company owner said he, "had never seen such a poorly done job in his career" and that I am "fortunate the huge chip pile didn't catch on fire". He also said that the mess on my property was so bad it reminded him of the cleanup he was involved in during Hurricane Michael." So beware of Addison Tree. I feel an obligation to warn others so no one else ends up with a devastating catastrophe like I did. read more

What an amazing company. I needed to quickly find a company to put up our lights as the one I had previously set up fell through. Not only did Steven respond quickly, he actually came out to my house the same day and matched the price the previous company provided. He was very quick to respond via text and professional the whole time. Needless to say, the previous company contacted me and apologized for the misunderstanding. Requested a quote to cut down a 25 ft spruce. This guy wants $3,500 as his day rate to do the job!... but has the intelligence to recommend that I have more work to fill his time. So watch out folks, he travels with the village and the warehouse to work - even if the work involved is to only chop down a spruce! read more

They handled a large amount of tree and bush work in my yard for a reasonable price, including felling five huge Austrian pines that had died, removing five other dead or dying trees and removing all of the logs, branches, etc. Also ground some stumps. I was very happy with their work, the leaders were friendly and easy to work with and they brought a large enough crew to finish in a day and a half. This company has worked on 2 large projects on our home over the past 12 months. The crew is good - hard working & efficient. They are reasonably priced, and all is well usually - but only up through the first portion of the project. Their follow up is seriously lacking and would greatly benefit from better communication. Twice now I have had to wait around and keep initiating contact for stumps to be ground, then roots to be removed, and all the sudden things weren't included in the original price. After the trees are gone it's like the remaining work they need to do to complete the job isn't important anymore. For example my project was started March 23 and I am still waiting for its completion. That's very frustrating because otherwise it's an excellent tree removal & trimming service! read more

This is a great company. We have hired them on 3 occasions and we have always been completely satisfied with their work. We called them once during a wind storm when a tree had started to fall but was caught on another tree. If it continued to fall it would have taken out our privacy fence and possibly hit our house. We called them and they showed up within the hour to remove it. Yesterday they came and removed several dead trees from our property. They went above and beyond, pruning trees that needed it, etc. They always charge a fair amount for the work they do. I don't get it had a conversation with them last week, gave my credit card number over the phone to have a load of wood delivered. It never showed up I have left several voicemails and sent texts messages and have never received any type of communication back. If there is a delay or things need to be rescheduled no problem, but it would be nice to get a return phone call back. I had Addison Tree come out and chop off a limp that was hanging precariously after a storm. The crew showed up about 5 minutes before scheduled and got right to work. They dropped it, chipped all of the brush, and chopped up the wood in about an hour. Super courteous and did a great job of cleaning up and not tearing up my lawn with the truck. Are you in need of very professional tree and outdoor service? Our front yard has 4 large hydrangeas that needed to be dead-wooded and one Oakleaf Hydrangea bush that was overgrown and desperately needed to be trimmed properly. I checked in the yellow pages for a company to do the work. Within a day of calling, Ryan, the Sales Manager came to assess the situation. He advised me that the Oakleaf hydrangea needed to be trimmed by an arborist that knew exactly what branches needed to be trimmed. The owner, Steve, of ADDISON TREE AND OUTDOOR SERVICES (248-830-1080) is an arborist and Ryan assured me that Steve would personally do the job and do it as if the bush were his own. Steve did exactly that. He trimmed by hand the branches that needed to be removed with delicate care to not harm the other branches. It looks like a new planting, it is so fresh looking and shaped so beautifully. Mike, the crew manager, did the work on the other hydrangeas, carefully trimming the deadwood from our large bushes. They, too, look fresh and ready to produce lovely flowers this season without all the old wood that made them look unkempt. We had an ugly yew growing in our yard that Steve M., the groundsman, cut down for us and hauled it away in the truck. All the deadwood was hauled away and the yard was raked and cleaned up by the 4 man crew that came to work within a few days after we "hired" Addison Tree and Outdoor Services to do the work for us. Their fees are very reasonable and the work done was superior to what was expected. I will have them back to do hedge trimming and other tree trimming work in the near future.
