The biggest problem is reliability and communication. They are constantly closed during posted business hours, and there always seems to be an excuse as to why no one is there. Communication about timelines and when work will actually be completed is inconsistent and unclear. Instead of getting answers, it often feels like you're met with confusion and no real direction. It's disappointing because this used to be a business I trusted and recommended. Sadly, I can no longer recommend them based on my recent experiences.

The owner herself is from the upper peninsula of Michigan and it was lovely to chat with her upon my first visit. She's a designer and does in-home consultations and design. What I greatly appreciated about her way of doing business is that she was very direct about her pricing structure. She had a "menu" of services listed and can do as little or as much as you'd like. The shop itself is true to "mongrel" - a nice little mixed selection of home decor items. I enjoy shopping "outside the box" (ie PB, Crate & Barrel etc) for some unique finds and Mongrel has everything from furniture to candles.
