Misadvertising. Although they are listed on Doordash and claim to have a vast selection, both times they declined to fulfill the order. Instead they try to upsell you to whatever they feel like selling you today and force you to pay extra. Shady business. Avoid. read more

Ordered 6 bottles for delivery. Got busy cooking and cleaning and realized I did not get delivery. Had my son check outside in case it was left outside my door which would be stupid as there are 4 other aparrments there. Sure enough there it is a $180 order. And a bottle is missing. Called to a. State that the delivery guy did not ring my doorbell and b. A bottle is missing. This then led to a third degree word salad from the not savvy "manager" Kevin. I had to repeat 3-4 times that his guy did not deliver directly to me and exasperatedly said - maybe he took it. Welllll, that is allllll Kevin wanted to focus on, that I accused his trusted delivery guy of theft and that he needed to investigate. All he had to do was deliver my missing bottle and do his investigation - how is this any of my problem. The level of gaslighting and mansplaining was beyond so I said pick up your bottles and you've lost a customer who has spent of dollars since they opened. Really unbelievable. And yes, I called him a moron because he is. So, folks, give your business to smarter, customer-oriented wine store. Oh, and then the even more moron delivery guy came to pick them up argueing with me that who let him in, and he was knocking on the door. Me with music on and 2 rooms away from my door. Like he or the store could have called, but noooooo that would require critical thinking skills. Trust me. Do not shop there. Ten years I have shopped there. Crazy. read more

Adega is not the largest liquor store in Astoria, but they're certainly among the best. While the store itself may appear small to most, their selection is as robust as any I've seen for both wines and spirits. The prices are competitive, the staff is super professional and courteous, and to top it off, they've got an app where one can fulfill online orders. I've always appreciated the ease of shopping for booze here, which for some novices may seem like a daunting experience with so many brands and so many bottles out in the market. They've made it easy for people to find what they want with clear signs, prominent price tags (no mistake here!), and an overall clean interior. (#1) Regarding the app, it makes it really easy to know what they have in-house and for how much without having to even step into the store. Deliveries are also easy and extremely convenient, especially for bulk orders. I've been very impressed at how quickly they're able to get everything fulfilled. They're clearly ahead of the game. For almost every business, service is everything. They've got it down, all around: great phone manners, awesome in-store assistance, great smiles, and a helpful, professional attitude. A new home for wine connoisseurs could not have been any better. Since "Adega Wine and Spirits" have opened their doors on October 10, 2013 they have become the new beat in Astoria. With its dash of old-world décor, classical music and their wine tasting weekends, it is just simply breathtaking eloquence to the eyes, ears and palate. Its vibrancy radiates in the air as you stroll passed the labyrinth of some of the finest wines and liquors that are just so pleasantly inviting. Glistening glasses of wine are held delicately towards the light to see the wines form and as the bouquet is swirled, sniffed and sipped there are smiles. The sound of the music seems to pause as tinkering glasses and lighthearted laughter can be heard from patrons in the store. A striking blonde-haired hostess gently sways her hand towards the opened bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, magically gesturing as if she is offering more. Instead, her angelic voice describes the wine's origin to the core of its seed. "Magnificence to its purest", she recites. Those that were listening, their heads nodded with approval. An applause is heard, next, a raised hand of a patron with a question, and another with cash in hand ready to buy. "Let me have two of the red, I'll take those home", the middle-aged woman said. Intoxicated with the thought of having found a worldly sommelier, confidently off they went rejoicing their purchase, knowing they'll be back for more. As the two ladies walked out with two bottles in each hand, they squeezed past the doorway as three were walking in. A home welcoming smile by the cashier was as if it were the cue for another bottle of "Cabernet Sauvignon" to be opened, "pop", the cork echoes in the store. read more

Awful experience. This is the Second time I came to the store, 8/22, and the sale associate was rude and uncooperative . The sign stated that 4 ppl are allowed in the store . When I tried to enter to the store it was only one person inside and the associate rudely asked to wait outside. Will never come there again. They also make offers for bulk purchases and they offer delivery. Very informed and polite personnel, always willing to assist you to choose the right product for the occasion. A nice little wine and liquor store on Ditmars. The place has a nice look and feel to it. I walked in and started browsing the liquors and noticed they didn't have your typical brands like Bacardi. This is very appealing to me as I like to try new liquors. They also have a very nice wine selection from around the world. They have a classroom in the back which suggests they have classes. This would be interesting. Hopefully they can put up a website with a schedule. read more

Adega offers some of the best costumer service I've ever seen. The staff is incredibly helpful, knowledgable, and friendly. Every single time I've been in, I'm promptly greeted and offered assistance. Give the guy a price range and what you're looking for, and he's off to find you just want you need. I swear the main guy there is Encyclopedia Brown based off his wine knowledge. The store itself seems to offer quite a nice selection of wines and liquors, plus the place is quite attractive and smells nice. Can't get better than that! Good selection on a variety of wine under $20, Adega is here on Ditmars to help you abandon the tactic of picking a wine based off how enticed you are by the bottle's label. I believe the owner(s) is (are) Brazilian(?), very friendly.The staff are eager to help and provide suggestions. But I must admit that I'm a moody sipper so bottles that we have gotten from their suggestions have been a hit or a -partial- miss. Besides wine, they have a small, interesting selection of spirits. Definitely not a generic liquor store, you won't find Yellow tail nor Bacardi here. Adega has frequent tastings (Thursdays-Saturdays), and offers free local delivery. read more

After seeing the posted pictures and all these complimentary reviews, I'm even more disappointed that I didn't receive the customer service for which they are known. Placed a delivery order through delivery.com. 15-20 minutes after submitting, I received a call from AWS. One of the items I had was out of stock. We quickly narrowed it down to two brands of the same type of liquor which I know I like. I chose my favorite. He confirmed they could substitute.....and then told me he'd call delivery.com to adjust my total, and have it to me within half of an hour. I asked him why they were putting to cost differential on me, since SOP when a business can't provide something they list as available is for them to give a complimentary substitution of equal quality (and we're only talking a difference of $5 for my first choice, and $1 for my second choice). The gentleman said they couldn't substitute without adjusting the charge, but they could give me a less expensive bottle, even though that would mean getting a lesser quality product of brands I know I don't like. The order was promptly canceled, per my request. However, when I asked to cancel, the man just hung up; no attempt at retaining a customer. Two stars, since the gentleman was nice enough and never rude. Though this was certainly a one-star experience. With all the area competition, who isn't going to give their business to whichever provider gives the best service? And when they have a customer whom they should know (as they had my address) lives by three other solid options, one of which also delivers, does it not make the most business sense to go above and beyond in order to procure that business for yourself? Unless they carry something that I can't get anywhere else in my area, or near my job, or their pricing is SO much better on a hard to find item that I can't refuse, this will be my first and last attempt at giving AWS business. Rather unacceptable for a business to not take ownership in such a situation. read more

A boutique upmarket Manhattan styled wine shoppe with a friendly knowledgeable staff. They carry the brands, vintages and spirits others and in Astoria must special order, then you have to wait days. I've gone in several times made purchases and inquiries that others in the area looked at me with blank stares while this staff had the right answers. Kept passing this place on my way home for about a week or two after it opened and finally decided this past Saturday night to pop on in and see what it was about. I absolutely love it! Wines categorized by regions, people on the floor that actually take the time to help you find wines based on your taste; ie: fruity, dry, full body, region, etc. Bought a few bottles and was very pleased with the wines that were suggested. Since this spot is on my walk home, and it's open till midnight, it couldn't be more convenient! It's a nice addition to the Ditmars store offerings. I really enjoy the wooded interior, and the wine displayed nicely, by location. The staff is friendly, and they always ask if I need help selecting a wine. Sometimes I say yes, and they provide me with a nice suggestion. But, if i just want to peruse and find one on my own, they leave me alone. They have an excellent selection and moderate pricing. The customer service at this wine shop is beyond anything I have ever received in a retail environment. The staff is always eager to help with recommendations, and very knowledgable. The store itself is gorgeous. The displays and layout are second to none. They carry a very large and rotating variety for a small space. It is welcoming, clean, and you don't really want to leave once you step in. Fortunately they are always having various tastings and invite you to linger. Additionally, one of my favorite aspects of this shop is that they keep customer profiles. How many times have you purchased a bottle of wine and want to get it again but can't remember for the life of you what the name was? Not an issue at Adega. With their customer profiles not only do you earn points towards free bottles of wine with each purchase, but they keep all your previous purchases on file so you can revisit to find which wines you liked. They also offer case and half case discounts. Oh, did I mention they also deliver? I come to adega fairly regularly to pick out wine and the staff has always been wonderful. Tonight we had a particularly great experience in the shop. I picked up a bottle of wine and upon opening it it smelled odd and tasted of bleu cheese. I brought it back and suspected that it was corked which the staff confirmed upon smelling it. No questions asked, they opened a new bottle for us and let us try it to ensure it tasted right. The service and attention to detail here is impeccable and we are fortunate to have a liquor store like adega in the neighborhood. read more

I don't come here that often, but when I do I always get what I need. I moved to Ditmars/35th Street back in March and I've always seen this place when I'm walking to the subway. The first time I went there, they asked me for help, I said "hey I'm looking for the basics to fill my bar back up again for mixing, entertaining, etc. I need Tequila, Rum, Vodka, Whiskey/Whisky. I was literally getting recommendations on every single bottle I was purchasing. Went home and was a guest bartender for my own housewarming. The second time I went there, "I need two wine bottles for my friend". One of the guys asked me the questions you'd ask for what their taste is like. I go see my friends, they love the choice. The third time I went there, "I'm just looking to restock my bar, I need whiskey as well as a whiskey for my work event." They get me two more awesome bottles. At this point in my life, there are still price limits that I would not like to hit. The only semi-con is that their prices are a little bit higher. But every time I'm there it's like a mini -tutorial session and forum. That has a price tag higher than the written number on the tags themselves. At the end of the day, it's still a positive ROI by coming here versus going to the bar. (Making cocktails and appreciating the spirits). For their selection, I don't think you should go here to buy specific "name brand" liquors. You should really go there to discover new brands, get a better understanding of the liquor and appreciate it. That's what I get when I come here. I'll need a bottle of vodka soon to finish restocking my bar. Until then, I'll be making more whiskey based cocktails. read more

This place is fantastic! The décor and ambience are calming, the music unobtrusive. They have a fascinating selection, which is continuously expanding. As a gin guy, the curious range of small batch and artisanal gins they have are more than compelling. In the short time they've been open I've been here many times, and expect to be back often. More so, if they don't have what you're looking for, they'll take your recommendation, and get it. They won't just say they will. They'll do it. Stopped in today, and at the register, was told they now have loyalty points. My only complaint is that they many bottles I've acquired here already, missed out on earning me those sweet sweet points! read more

Gorgeous little wine shop a short walk from the Astoria-Ditmars stop. Stopped in for the first time today to inquire about their weekly wine tastings (Saturday evenings). The tastings are free and paired with cheese and charcuterie. I saw plenty of affordable bottles, they are open until midnight on weekdays and are going to be offering wine tasting/whiskey tasting classes next month, completely free of charge for anyone that signs up in the shop. It's owned by a Brazilian couple and the wife was a complete doll at the register. You could see the 'woman's touch' in the store, all the way down to details like rustic, handwritten price tags hanging around the neck of each bottle. Adega offers affordable wines with an old-world environment and are simultaneously educating the surrounding community. Great local business! read more

This is a great new addition to the Ditmars neighborhood. The people that work there are very friendly and helpful. The wine selection is well-organized and interesting. My favorite part about the store is that not only do they take requests for certain wine (which some other stores do) they actually then purchase that wine from their supplier (which no other store has yet to do for me) AND called me to let me know when it was in. I thought that was really top-notch customer service. The only reason I did not give them the full five stars is that because of the physical limitations of the space, their wine selection is not as large as some other stores. All in all, this is a great store, certainly better than the other wine stores in that area. I will be back to get more of the wine they ordered for me! read more

Great that they have a delivery service. One thing to be careful about is when ordering online, you're not going to get the wine vintages advertised. Which is pretty annoying, with when the year greatly changes the price of the bottle. I've bought $60 bottle from here on the app and received wines from different years that are not worth the price they are charging. However, for your average $10-$20 bottle it doesn't matter much and their selection is good. I shop there often, but know not to trust the years on the app. read more

Every time I visit I try a new brand of something and I am never dissatisfied! I wish more folks knew about this place so they could experience some of the great brands that are available here and not normally found in your traditional "wine and spirits " location. They hold taste tests and classes in the back as well! Warning: they only stock the best! You will not find Bacardi flavored rums or bottom shelf flavored vodkas.
