This is a nice boutique in the pearl district . There were several great stores nearby. Prices were expensive. They had some cute items. They had bags clothes swim wear hair pieces etc. they had some great sales in the sale section. Staff were nice but appeared busy not too engaged and store was clean and well lit. This boutique is super clean and fun to visit. Everything is a little more priced than I would like to pay for boutique clothing, but they do have some unique things so I get it. The staff was great, super friendly. They were even offering free cider and popcorn. They really know how to cater it to their adults is what I'll say when it comes to the cider. I recommend at least going in and looking around you do find some cool stuff in there, but just know that some things are a little pricey, but I guess that's the price for unique boutique clothing. read more

I double dog dare you to walk into this store grumpy and leave without a smile on your face. The bright and colorful inventory all over just begs to turn a frown upside down. Most of the clothing is stuff I'll admire on the rack but would probably not wear myself (I prefer more muted/neutral tones, but I can appreciate the color). In addition to the fun clothing, they have other interesting household items, gifts and knick-knacks. I found a perfume spray that I absolutely fell in love with and would have purchased, but only saw the tester, not one I could purchase. Oh well, maybe it wasn't meant to be. My wife and I are always delighted by the energy at Adelante. We visited today and got such a kick out of the funny quotes on the magnets, coasters and dish towels they were selling. The staff are truly kind and genuine to those who come in and one of the employees even helped my wife find a dress that she loved, as well as a perfect gift for our son who lives out of state. I love everything in this place. It's cute, it's quirky, but man is it incredibly expensive. Everything I found was over $150 dollars... for the average Joe, that's pretty steep. I'd never be able to buy anything here without being sad that I spent so much on a shirt. I think they have the cutest San Antonio pillows, I want them so bad and the San Antonio etched cup. Cute store. Cute area. Walked in with my daughter and the 3 ladies behind the counter didn't even acknowledge either one of us. My daughter was interested in a dress and carried it around with her, while we shopped, no one offered a dressing room or any type of customer service. My girlfriend really enjoys this Boutique and was given a gift card for Christmas. She was looking forward to using it, so as a part of our Valentine's Day weekend, we ended up at The Pearl before dinner. I've been to this store a few times with her, and - even as a man - I admit it's a cute little store. I've always been able to occupy myself looking at their funny, unique stuff. For instance, take a few moments to check out their dish towels - hilarious! So, last night, we ended up at Adelante about 5:45p.m., which happened to be about 15 minutes before closure. Come 6:00 p.m., the employees had no qualms about shutting and locking that front door, making sure everyone knew they'd closed. What was particularly disappointing in their customer service is how they handled those still in the store (my girlfriend among them). Usually, you'd think (and most of my experiences confirm) retailers give those still in the store after closing SOME TIME to continue browsing. I'm not saying people should be allowed to stay in there an extra hour after closing, but come on! They were in the store shopping, you have an opportunity to make a sale...give them a second. NOPE! It was NOT VERY LONG after 6:00p.m. when an employee asked my girlfriend whether she saw anything she wanted to try on. When she responded, "Not yet", the store employee rudely retorted, "Well, we closed at six...". SERIOUSLY? The only thing I can think is that this place must make a ton of money. They're obviously worried about neither losing customers nor their bottom line. read more

"Fiesta" wear made in CHINA?!?!? Sorry??? I was looking into the store for a lovely fiesta blouse. They have plenty of cute tops to choose from but looking further into the shirts, I only found "made in China". Seriously? I asked a sales lady (one of many who never attended to me) if there were any shirts made in Mexico. She was aloof and uninterested in inquiring if any products were Mexican made. We have a wonderful country just south of us with easy access for trade. Why are you selling MADE IN CHINA items when they clearly should be saying HECHO EN MEXICO. Shameful really. Super cute store, very well curated. Several items caught my eye for their uniqueness. A price point for everyone. Visiting with my Mom when I caught her looking at the handbags and in particular an orange one (her fav color). Simple design with a turquoise button......on this oh so cold day, I was in the mood to look at the clothing which had a south west styling with Navaho patterns and Mexican embroidered tunics, definitely would be the way I would wear those designs. The gal at the counter appeared to be the owner and was really pleasant. I've been to a lot of boutiques, New York, L.A., Austin and even here in San Antonio, but I can say with all honesty that this is one of my favorites. The only words coming out of my mouth as I walked around the store was "holy crap". The clothes are incredible. The embroidery is very Mexican inspired and is all over the place. Absolutely beautiful dresses line the walls. You can find mini casual dress, cocktail dresses, and maxi dresses with the same gorgeous embroidery. The store has been open for 35 years and has obviously gathered a small following. They also carry great accessories. I'm a big purse girl and so I was mesmerized by the array of purses that they have. They also have a great selection of jewelery. The prices are a little steep but it's worth it. I'm with Pim- just because I've never heard of a brand and their items are cute, doesn't mean they're an "upcoming designer". Prices are overinflated for what they're selling, but I guess in this shopping area people are willing to pay. Very distinct style represented here, all of the garments are flowy tunics and jackets with slightly different prints. Lots of cute print jackets, throws, and pajama sets, but not worth the prices they're asking. Wish they'd expand their home decor selection from a nook by the dressing rooms to a more substantial portion of the store. Despite a large crowd outside for the farmer's market, there wasn't anyone in here- and staff didn't acknowledge the people who were. Combined with pricing, strikes me as snooty. read more

Not everything in this shop was for me but I really liked the store and their sales people were super friendly! I ended up buying a really cute pair of colorful slippers which I LOVE! They have a really nice selection of Johnny Was clothing which is great as I love their items! Also jewelry, shoes, gift items etc. I will definitely go back! I'm a native San Antonian but live in VA. I was visiting San Antonio for spring break and really wanted to stop by at Adelante to get some embroidered tops. I wish I would've checked the reviews prior... I'm all about customer service. If I feel catered to at a store I will purchase something even if I don't love it. Upon walking into Adelante I was not greeted, I thought "ok maybe they are just busy and didn't see me". Nope. I walked around for 20 minutes seeing some potential purchases, but still I was never acknowledged. After about another 5 minutes and comparing prices to the quality of the clothing I decided to leave. Even upon exiting the store I thought "maybe they'll say have a good day". Nope. Because of my short time in SA I had a tight schedule and I wasted my time stopping at this store. I would not recommend this place. read more

I was shopping at this store early Thursday morning, yesterday. I walked around inside the store looking for several nice ladies blouses, this took me approximately 20 to 30 minutes. The sales clerk asked if she could take the blouses I was carrying around and start me a dressing room....I said Yes, that's great! I gave her my hand picked favorites and continue to shop for approximately 10 more minutes. Then I went to 3 sales girls that were standing and chatting with each other and told them that I was ready to try on my clothes. They all looked baffled. I had already looked for my clothes in the dressing rooms but, couldn't find my clothes. They walked around looking inside the same dressing rooms and said they couldn't find them either...... This is where it gets worse. ...the manager came over to me and told me that I would need to START OVER AGAIN and search for the clothes that took me 30 minutes to find the first time! I said No Thank You! I have plans to leave town in the next 15 minutes, I don't have time to shop in your store again. When I began to head towards the door to leave, the manager grabbed my arm and tried to stop me. She told me that her staff who was busy chatting to each other, instead of helping customers would help me find my clothes again. I told her No Thank You, again and briskly walked out. This store was not busy and the sales clerks have not been properly trained, and the clothes that are placed on-hold in a dressing room should be clearly marked DO NOT REMOVE, holding for guest. The manager should never grab a customer physically. This store needs some serious customer service training. read more

Everyone who works there is super friendly and today I was pleasantly surprised when they remembered me, I'd been there only once and that was 3 months ago. Noooo! What happened?? This used to be a truly unique local boutique down on North New Braunfels Avenue who offered incredible unique clothing and jewelry imported from one of a kind sources. I spent a little over my budget in the 1980s and 1990s, because I would find something completely irresistible and thrilling.Things you would never find anywhere else in San Antonio. I never once found anyone else wearing them. Today I wandered into their store in The Pearl, after so many years, so excited to see all the current treats. First thing I saw was a table full of gifty-shit with Mud Pie tags. Yes. White and red cheap pottery, and imitation silver serving implements. Same shit that I saw in Buccee's New Braunfels the week prior. The clothing was still trendy and heavily embroidered. By machine. With labels like "Tommy Was". Same mass produced and extremely overpriced shit as in the Tommy Was windows at La Cantera. $238 for a top. Then I examined the jewelry. Mass produced, poor quality, and priced as if they are very very proud of it. I'm sorry. But NO. STOP. JUST STOP. read more

I stopped in here one night while exploring San Antonio. Everybody I ran into said I have to check out the Pearl area. As I walked in and perused the store, I immediately noticed that staff greeted everyone....everyone except me. Okay, could be a fluke. Then I noticed that I was being watched as I walked around... and when I asked the price of something, I received a blank awkward stare then questioned if I was in fact referring to the expensive item in my hand. Needless to say, I was profiled the moment I walked through the door. I wish I could say that it was not a racial profile. I picked up some fantastic clothes for the Spring! I like the new location in the Pearl Brewery and ventured over there this weekend. I was pleasantly surprised to find so many things I wanted and needed of course! My purpose was shopping for Fiesta - and I was not disappointed! Embroidered tunic, the infamous "Oprah" favorite chickie, and a cool t-shirt dress - with all sorts of pretty designs and colors. They had some cool jewelry too! Go check it out for yourself. I received a necklace (not my taste) for Christmas from this store. I went in to exchange it today and the girl at the register was extremely rude and confrontational. Not sure why? She even implied that I had probably already worn it. I asked her if she really thought I had worn the necklace? She replied that it didn't matter, that without a receipt they couldn't help me. I told her I didn't have a receipt, because it was a GIFT. Since I was getting nowhere with her, I asked to speak to a manager. Turns out, the assistant manager had been standing right next to her the whole time and hadn't said a word. When I turned to her, the only thing she had to say was that all jewelry sales were final. I've never come across a store that offered absolutely no recourse. They didn't offer to look it up to see if it even could be exchanged. They didn't offer any type of alternative or solution at all. The staff could use some work on customer service and how not to ignore people, but for me, all of the sights override their downfall. I would say that Adelante had bad service however that would be saying something. Each time I enter the store I am never greeted or asked if I needed help finding anything. Both of the ladies stood behind the counter with a smug look on their face and not once shared a smile. As someone who once worked in retail, I would assume the sales associate would want to make the customers feel welcomed which would then mean them spending money. I enjoy the clothing and the shoes at the store but I have realized I refrain from buying because the atmosphere is so awkward and uncomfortable. I suggest the workers get over themselves and the odd sense of pride they have for working at Adelante and actually take the time to talk to customers. I would be a loyal customer to the boutique if I was treated right. I am not sure if the workers work on commission but that is also another reason I have stopped shopping here, I would hate for my money to go towards a group of pretentious group​ of women who feel too entitled to help customers that walk into the store. read more

Her stylist skills are fantastic, she was helpful, kind and offered great advice. Then I visited Adelante and I was just blown away by the beautiful clothing, and other merchandise, especially Chickies. We took our daughter who was visiting from out of town to the Pearl to enjoy the atmosphere and do some shopping. We went to Adelante because they had cute clothes in their window. I must say that is where the cuteness stopped. We were wearing jeans and hoodies due to the chilly weather. We apparently fit some image of what the sales girl thought was likely to rob the store. She followed us every step but never greeted us, asked if we would like to see something, or if she could help. After being followed a third circle through the boutique we exited and will never darken the door of that business again. Sad, in that I am a well placed businessman in San Antonio and my daughter is an accountant in a neighboring city. The rude and presumptive attitude of this sales clerk not only ruined our morning, but we are likely to avoid the Pearl altogether so we do not have to suffer the snobbery exhibited in this establishment. I only hope the rest of the businesses in that area are more welcoming. If not, many owners will have invested heavily only to have bad manners drive off customers in droves. read more

We are frequent visitors to the Pearl and eat and shop here all the time, but we will never visit this shop again. My niece and her daughter went into this place to shop and saw a kid's backpack that she was thinking of purchasing. The sales lady did not greet them or ask if we needed any help at all. My niece finally asked the price on the backpack and the sales lady very rudely gave the price and grabbed the backpack and put it back on the shelf. Without ever asking if she wanted to buy it!! How dare you presume anything and shame on you for treating people the way you do! I am utterly disgusted by your treatment of customers based on my experience and other reviews. Friends from out of town asked me to take them to the Pearl district on March 29, 2018. We went into Adelante and looked around trying to find anything we would wear. We were surprised by the relatively high prices for the clothing they had displayed. There was only one tunic I was interested in, so I bought it (my friend loved it and assured me I would wear it often). When I got home, I tried it on and it did not fit. They only had that one size in the store. I immediately called the store and told them I'd be returning it and asked them to just refund the money or refund it to my charge account. They told me there are no refunds. You only get store credit. I looked at my receipt, and sure enough, it states NO REFUNDS. Interesting that they slip that receipt in your bag -- less likely you'd notice it until you were home. Can you imagine that? Just hours after I purchased it they wouldn't take it back! I folded it up and gave it to my friend. I will NOT return to Adelante in San Antonio. I have never been a store who doesn't offer a refund for a return. read more
