I pride myself on the traditional teachings of Shotokan karate. We have trained thousands of students over the years. Many of them have gone on to USA National Karate Teams and competed at the highest level. In my 37 years of training and teaching, it is not uncommon to have disagreements with parents from time to time. There are hundreds of students and parents who trust their children in the capable hands of my staff and instructors. Here at Adel's International Karate, we pride ourselves on several principles or codes of conduct. Character, Commitment, Respect, Discipline, Hard Work and Passion is all we expect from our students. We work with parents on a regular basis to bring out the best in each and every child. Unfortunately, sometimes students fail to meet these characteristics...which include verbal name calling, inappropriate physical contact, disrespect to staff and students and above all disrespect for themselves. If we feel any child in our school is put in harms way, we go above and beyond to to work it out with the student and parents. If unresolved...we kindly ask the family to leave or make alternative recommendation for training. I think the prices are very reasonable, actually. And, let's not forget - you get what you pay for! And here you get a lot. Every instructor at Adel's has surpassed my expectations, especially Adel himself - most important because he is the one that sets the wonderful tone for the school. I couldn't be happier with the mental and physical benefits I get from the classes. I am adult female age 46 who started taking karate 2 years ago. I also take the kick boxing and fusion fitness classes. As an adult starting out, never having taken martial arts classes before, it was important to me to be in a professional and supportive atmosphere and truly, that's the way Adel's is. The other adult students and parents of children who are students are very friendly and helpful. Being a student at Adel's is like being part of a wonderful second family. I have observed all the Senseis teaching kids' classes and every time I watch I'm struck by how the right balance is kept between fun/friendliness and also the discipline & focus that is an inherent part of martial arts. My son and daughter goes to this school and has learned a lot of discipline, respect and honor. Adel is doing his very best to teach his students. I read some reviews and felt bad about the negative reviews. I dont think the parents did those reviews, its merely a business competition thing because Adel has a lot of students that come from other karate school. I know that and Im sure and heard from the parents themselves. If those reviews are from the student's parents why would they voice out on this reviews and not directly talk to him? I did not think that crab mentality exist here now I do. I hope Adel will realize that this is part of success and hard work. I have recently been reading the reviews about Adels International Karate - Oceanside NY and have been very disappointed to read there was some negativity. My son has been going to Adels for over 3 years. A former student of martial arts and now back into it as an adult, I wanted to find a school that focuses on tradition, strong teaching, honor, character, mentoring, discipline and overall family friendly. I had searched for a long time and decided to enroll my son. This school has brought so much to my son and his development. Sensei Adel treats every student, parent and teacher as family. He is honest, honorable and an overall excellent instructor. I was so impressed with my son's progress that I personally enrolled and have been going for almost 2 years. I have been training traditional Okinawan martial arts for 19 years, achieving the rank of Yon Dan (4th Degree B.B), but with my school being in Manhattan it was impossible to place my 6 year old twins there. Adel's Shotokan Karate Center is the most honest, purest karate school I have ever come across on Long Island. Sensei Adel comes from a long and very rich lineage of many world renowned karate icons. Sensei Adel himself is a highly accomplished figure in karate circles as both a great martial artist as well as a great instructor who has trained many local, national and worldwide champions as well as being a coach to the US Olympic Karate team!
