Very disappointed. From the very first pool session with the gear provided by Adirondack Scuba I had an issue with the fit of the BC (buoyancy control device) I was provided. It fit far to loosely allowing the air tank to roll back and forth on my back pulling me with it. I advised each instructor I worked with of the issue. Each agreed the BC was too loose but no one was able to correct it. Finally on the second to last pool session a "helper" asked John (the owner of the shop) to look at it. John advised the straps on the BC were not threaded correctly. He was able to adjust it in minutes. Unfortunately with only one more pool session I did not have time to practice all the required skills to be able to complete my check out dives now that I could keep myself upright in the water. We were originally broken out into groups and I later found the groups had practiced different skills and some of us had missed vital training others had received. The entire group did not receive training on how to read the regulator information, but were told to look it up online. Unfortunately my regulator was not available online and come to find out the one on my BC didn't work at all. At one point John told me he didn't like working with new divers because he doesn't have the patience. That became very clear as time went on. If all goes well you may be OK taking diving lessons here. But beware if you need individual attention you may not get it ending up in a waste of time and money when you are not able to complete your check out dives to become a certified diver. They did offer me the "opportunity" to repeat the course which includes a 45-60 minute drive each way for the pool sessions. If I had never mentioned it to them, it would be on me. But I did every week. As I do not have confidence in the training provided, or the lack of them taking accountability for putting me n a BC that was not correctly fitted in my first session, I have declined their offer. read more

John and Randi are great! I took Randi's gentle advice about scuba gear and am very happy. John was my dive master and instructor to get certified as an open water diver. He was excellent. He was patient, very knowledgeable, and explained every aspect of the diving experience clearly which was calming. I recommend Adirondack Scuba highly. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to embark on a journey together and get our scuba diving certifications. We are sooooo glad (and lucky) to have fallen upon Adirondack Scuba to do so. We saw their class listed in the Shen Community Education Program. Not knowing how serious scuba diving would be, we ended up with a company who takes it very seriously from beginning to end and makes sure safety is the number one priority at all times. John and Randi (owners and instructors of Adirondack Scuba) are phenomenal! They have unmatched experience in this area!! They have a team of qualified instructors present at every class so that every student has individualized attention. At the final open water checkouts in LG, there was approximately 1 instructor for every 1-2 students throughout the entire process. They all wear dry suits for top-notch safety! Although the process was a bit stressful for me (not having much experience in the water), they stood (swam) by me the entire time, encouraging me, and making sure I nailed every skill before moving onto a new skill. By the end, I felt super comfortable and had a lot of fun. It was definitely because I worked with Adirondack Scuba that I am now a certified diver who cannot wait to take the next step and start diving!! John and Randi were great to work with. The entire process was very safety-oriented, but also super fun. John arranges for qualified instructors to be present at all times. I especially like the SDI program since it's almost completely done in the water. The best part was, or course, the open water dives in Lake George. A TOTAL blast. Their pricing is very fair, and the instruction provided could not be better. This is the company you want to work with - no question. John even offered to do a safety check for my daughter who is taking the course a college. I'm taking him up on that. I look forward to going on a trip with them soon! read more
