It was difficult trying to find the main entrance to this location at 1400 S Mint St, Charlotte, NC…read more28203. The phone number I had for Penske wasn't the one for the actual location. You have to call the actual hardware store itself. I had to ask an employee at a neighboring company where the entrance was, and that's how I found out. Upon arrival, it took about 10 minutes for a Penske associate to come and assist me after being paged. Next, I was told that the truck I had reserved wasn't available, even though two were sitting outside. I was told I'd have to get a larger truck at no additional cost to me. I did not want that. I wanted the truck I reserved. It was then that I found out that, though my reservation was for that day, the other person who had reserved the same-size truck wasn't due to pick up her truck until three days later. The associate called and asked if the renter for the Monday reservation would be okay with a larger truck, so I could get the truck I reserved, but she refused. I was told they didn't have my truck available. Then magically, the truck showed up after I pointed out that there were two of the same-sized trucks outside that I had reserved. Apparently, one of their staff members did not inventory one of the trucks into the system after it was returned. So, I wound up getting the truck I reserved. The entire process took close to 40 minutes. I was frustrated, and no compensation was offered for my troubles. This wasn't impressive, given it was my first time renting from Penske. The associate seemed incompetent and disorganized, to say the least. It was a horrible experience. The truck didn't seem stable while I was driving, but it got me to my destination safely. I don't blame Penske for the issue; I blame only this particular location. My advice? RUN!!!

We prepaid for this rental car. Arrived at desk & line is past Enterprise. There are only 2 ppl…read moreworking Avis. This is ridiculous. We will go hertz or nearly anyone else next time we rent a car. A higher price is worth not waiting in a huge line!!! The one serpentines as you get closer. So it'll probably take 30-50 minutes to get thru it. Pathetic. Don't do a car rental from Avis at Charlotte Airport.

The worst ever. Rental time 9am. Couldn't cancel. Customer service was useless. I'm a Homehealth…read morenurse this could have put my patients in a terrible predicament. My daily rental was $47 and change. Customer Service wanted to charge me more than $100 a day if I picked up from airport. The store said they couldn't transfer my reservation to the airport. How does a lot not have any cars? The one car showed up smelling like weed. Finally at almost 12 noon cars show up. I notified the guy I didn't need it on Sunday. Sunday came and I didn't realize no drop box. Called customer service and airport to see where I could leave the car and was told" don't know what to tell you to do" I left the keys in trunk thinking they had second set. Monday morning called to let Budget know keys in truck. The manager said okay. He said he called someone to get them out. I called 5 times same day to see if I was being charged. Never responded only said "I cant check the car in until I have the keys." Okay but I'm I getting charged. I need to call and get an extension on rental. The manager never said he was charging me an extra day. Final call at 5 pm. Did the unlock the trunk. The manger said no. I said it taking 8 hours to unlock a car. Manager, said"they told me they are coming." Next day. Called at 9 am. The guy answered and said the car is unlocked and I have the key. Look at me bill and the have charged me $110. What kind of business is this. The guy behind the counter couldn't help. Customer service was useless. This was a rip off. 1. It does take 8 hours to unlock a car. 2. my patients were put in jeopardy due to not getting a car until almost noon for a reservation at 9am. 3. The car they were trying to give me smelled like weed. I was willing to take my chances. 4 customers service served me no purpose has they couldn't answer anything I asked.

We recently rented a 15ft. Box Truck from the Dalton Avenue location (while the N. Tryon location…read moreis rebuilding/upgrading), and I swear on my dog that we had the most INCREDIBLE check in experience with our UHaul rep... From the second we walked in, she was professional, friendly, helpful, and so much more. We run a local non-profit up the street, and when my Associate Director and I walked into the temporary office/makeshift trailer, your Uhaul rep was on the phone with another customer. For some inexplicable reason, he and I randomly looked at each other- completely unprompted - and whispered 'OMG I LOVE HER!" - and neither of us could honestly even pinpoint why! I have never met this woman, nor do I even know her name to be honest, lol. But I remember the energy she had, the way she carried herself, her overall vibe, her impeccable style, and - most importantly - how comfortable she made us feel & how easy the process was. In 20+ years of renting UHauls - from Vermont, to Oregon, to Texas, and everywhere in-between - I've never had the process be so easy, let alone ENJOYABLE. Please feel free to contact me anytime with any further questions about our experience; in an era where everyone races to their keyboards to anonymously complain - I would be happy to take ownership of my genuinely POSITIVE interaction. I made a reservation to have a hitch installed at a location an hour from me because closer ones…read moredidn't have openings for 2 months. When I showed up, the mechanic was an hour late, and when he did show up, it turns out no one had bothered to order the hitch for my car. Reluctantly, I rescheduled for the following week. My appointment was confirmed for 11, which is when I was told that the mechanic starts his day. When I got there after another hours drive, they were telling a person already there that they didn't have their hitch! They scheduled an appointment for a time before the mechanic was supposed to start. The mechanic left to get the hitch. He started on my job at 2:30. I write this at 6:30 and he is still working on my car.

Got to this location literally 15 minutes before closing to pickup a reserved trailer…read more We took one look and realized it was too small. Andre was incredibly supportive and allowed me to cancel the smaller trailer and rent the larger one. By now it's 7:00 and they're closing time. It gets worse friends. Andre comes out to attach the trailer only to inform me that the ball on my trailer is too big. Andre once again to the rescue. He and I go back into the store where he assists me in purchasing the correct size ball and back to the trailer. Already two steps ahead of me, he has the tools in hand and gets the ball swapped out and the trailer attached in no time. At no time did Andre act like he was put out or frustrated at being held up in closing and going home. He provided well beyond fantastic customer service. Highly recommend this site for any rental needs.

I went to the U haul moving & storage of Steele Creek/780072(SASH the Manger)…read more I want to see about renting a pod or box, the one you can bring to your home to fill up with your moving stuff. I wanted to understand the logistics of how the service work. L was told by the manager, that I can"t leave , the pod ,because it may be broken into, I told him I never heard of anyone breaking in a Pod or box. I am moving with small amount of help , so I wanted to know how long can I keep, the pod, so I can fill up each day then on day of moving I would have family there to help me to finish. He wanted me to fill it, then allow them bring back to U haul and charge me, then when I needs to finish filling the box or pod bring back from U haul , and charge me again. So since it just me I want to filled each day. He suggest that call service to get a better deal, because he was not going to adjust, which would cost me $300 to $400 dollars. His attitude was awful, nasty reactions toward me, I have rent several times from U haul in the past. Never experience this behavior before. My experience with Sash the manager , is like the Lynching I"m sure my that my ancestors felt. My experience with SASH the manager is -0-
