I made a reservation to have a hitch installed at a location an hour from me because closer ones didn't have openings for 2 months. When I showed up, the mechanic was an hour late, and when he did show up, it turns out no one had bothered to order the hitch for my car. Reluctantly, I rescheduled for the following week. My appointment was confirmed for 11, which is when I was told that the mechanic starts his day. When I got there after another hours drive, they were telling a person already there that they didn't have their hitch! They scheduled an appointment for a time before the mechanic was supposed to start. The mechanic left to get the hitch. He started on my job at 2:30. I write this at 6:30 and he is still working on my car. read more

Poor communication bad attitude lack of respect or care. Last couple times renting from them at three different locations all the same. From not doing as said to over charging and the last time the truck provided wouldn't start the morning of move. I had to call the mobile mechanic and he said leave it running. When I told the clerk he still charged me the extra gas... Disrespectful and never using them again. read more

We recently rented a 15ft. Box Truck from the Dalton Avenue location (while the N. Tryon location is rebuilding/upgrading), and I swear on my dog that we had the most INCREDIBLE check in experience with our UHaul rep... From the second we walked in, she was professional, friendly, helpful, and so much more. We run a local non-profit up the street, and when my Associate Director and I walked into the temporary office/makeshift trailer, your Uhaul rep was on the phone with another customer. For some inexplicable reason, he and I randomly looked at each other- completely unprompted - and whispered 'OMG I LOVE HER!" - and neither of us could honestly even pinpoint why! I have never met this woman, nor do I even know her name to be honest, lol. But I remember the energy she had, the way she carried herself, her overall vibe, her impeccable style, and - most importantly - how comfortable she made us feel & how easy the process was. In 20+ years of renting UHauls - from Vermont, to Oregon, to Texas, and everywhere in-between - I've never had the process be so easy, let alone ENJOYABLE. I went to this location because another location had reserved a car hauler for me, but it was rented to someone else.. (Not their fault) I showed up with a reservation, and the check-in was pretty easy.. I go around back to pickup the trailer and it was nowhere to be found.. I asked for help, but it took forever to get anyone to acknowledge me. Finally after wasting 45 mins, we determined that someone else had picked up the trailer she rented me already... They assigned me a different trailer. I go to the back to hook up, and the front passenger fender is bent in and rubbing the tire. I looked at it and figured for the short distance I was doing, it would be fine. I NEEDED to get on the road, i was already an hour late because of this. They took pictures, and I left. After returning the trailer, they are trying to say that I damaged the trailer and fender, and I'm going to have to pay for it.... Unbelievable! read more

Was double charged!!! DO NOT USE THIS UHAUL LOCATION - I've never had a bad experience with uhaul until now, at this location. My roommate was picking up the uhaul but it was under my name, but we've done this before and never had an issue. They tried to tell her that she needed to put her card down even though my card was already on the reservation, they insisted this was what had to happen until she called me and then they were saying "oh no no you're fine we don't need your card, there is one on the reservation already". They must have gone ahead and ran my card at pick up, because at the end of the day I see two transactions 1. With the estimate miles I put into the system when booking, 2. The actual amount of miles driven. I thought that the initial charge would go away, assuming it was just the "hold" charge. Nope 3 days later and both charges were showing complete on my card. I've tried to call and speak to someone, no answer. Thankfully I've been able to dispute the charge. read more

Made a reservation for a 10 foot truck to move my daughter out of college. While on the runway flying to Charlotte, I get a call saying they won't have the truck we reserved and we're flying in to pick up in less than 12 hours. Don't trust this company AT ALL. I was able to contact Penske truck leasing while still on the runway prior to takeoff, and the agent was able to find me a truck for about the same price. read more

They messed up my hitch appointment twice and could not possibly care less that they had wasted now hours of my time.

I when to rent a truck on this location and everything was good which the truck and the male guys that works there was nice But the women who work there on Sundays do not know how to do their job as to serve the client, they are very pessimistic. The manager had to come and do the work for them because they did not want to provide the service, we only needed to deliver the rental truck. read more

I never leave reviews but this place was bad enough to inspire me. Waited over 5 minutes just to get propane without being acknowledged by a single employee. Walked inside and was told "it's going to be a minute" with no one in line. Could barely pull into the lot since they had about 6 trucks backed up into the the street. An old lady sideswiped a parked car and just walked away. The best part is, when trying to leave a review on the corporate site, their review site breaks. Hope you go out of business soon! read more

Upon arrival for my 4:30 pickup (which I had confirmation for and was supposed to be contactless, but the app then requested I speak inside to a representative) I was greeted by a 5 minute wait inside alone while the customer service agent finished up their personal phone call outside. Once the employee was gracious enough to put their call on hold and check mr in for a rental. I was informed "we ain't got none of those" to the cargo van I had requested and confirmed hours earlier. To which, the employee then stated "we'll put you in something" no problem, I'm understanding and I only needed to make one trip to the storage unit, a total of about 4 miles. The agent then resumes her personal call and states: "I'll finish with you after I go to the bathroom". Again, no problem, I feel I'm being reasonable. But then the employee takes 10 minutes and finally graces me back with their presence (all while continuing this personal call, which by all means didn't sound to consist of more than general chit chat with a friend). Mind you, it is by now 40 minutes after my scheduled pickup time, and I had a pretty tight schedule to keep in my day/evening. I was finally sent on my way outside to acquire a U-Haul box truck that was filthy and reeked of smoke and sweat, but was "sanitized" in front of me. Whatever, I'm here now and might as well finish the task at hand, I'm to far now. So I then take the unit, complete the hour task I needed to be done and returned the vehicle to the location with little fanfare. Task done. All in all, the location is filthy and over run with homeless who pester for money while having the most "I don't give a sh*t" staff ever to exist. read more

Went with a friend to pick up a reserved trailer. They didn't have it, despite their guarantee. He had to argue with the worker and speak with the owner to get his $50 guaranteed refund because they didn't have what he had reserved. Will not be back to this location. read more

I've been here several times and always get great customer service. I went in the other day then realized I went in too late for me to be able to get to my final destination at the time I needed person helping changed my reservation while we were talking outside. And when I went back I had everything lined up without wait. The people working are friendly and helpful. read more

Worst experience ever. We picked up the truck and loaded it in two an a half hours and brought it back to put the car on the trailer hitch. Little did we know they had not tested the brake lights on the truck to hitch connection and 3 1/2 hours later we're still sitting here waiting for the mechanic to fix the truck's light connection. The managers have been rude and very unhelpful and the only reason the mechanic is here is because we called roadside assistance ourselves. Absolutely go to another U-Haul location in Charlotte if you can. read more

Hands down the scariest place I have ever been. I felt unsafe the entire time I felt uncomfortable to leave my car unattended Ben if locked. U-Haul needs to reevaluate their security for this location. My advice stay as far away as possible. read more
