Many Inn keepers make you feel at home, but Tom and Carol make you truly feel like family. As I said before my wife and I stay at a lot of B&B's. We never stay in the same place more than once. We love to experience a new place each time. But this is our third stay here on our 10 day vacation in the UP. We kept coming back because we seriously missed this place, Tom, Carol, and of course Zeke their super well behaved and friendly dog. There is so much more here than just their beautiful home, the calming awe of their land, their incredibly friendly sheep, the acres and acres of trails they have on their land, the nice added touch of the sauna on the back porch, the wide open sky perfect for star gazing you usually get from the UP combine with being on a large acred farm, and of course Zeke! Carol and Tom are the heart and soul of this place. They are what make this house, a home. I could go on and on about how much we valued our stay. The 270-degree view is, as advertised by the inn, spectacular. You can sit out on the point in the inn's yard and see a good number of Les Cheneux' islands and a far-off glimpse of the Martin Reef Lighthouse. You can bring along your kayak or canoe to dock at the boathouse and use the inn as a base to explore the protected channels and islands in this area of northern Lake Huron. You'll get a full breakfast here, often emphasizing the use of local ingredients like maple syrup from the nearby Tassiers and Betty's homemade bread and pastries. Jim and Betty went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed during our stay. Betty always made sure there was a jug of ice tea in the fridge for me and Jim arranged for us to go sailing with a friend of his because his own boat (which he usually used to take guests on a short tour of the area) was in for repairs the week we were there. Cedarville is also a good place to make your base when exploring the eastern Upper Peninsula. Sault Ste. Marie, St. Igance, Mackinac Island, Tahquamenon Falls, Whitefish Point, Drummond Island...are all possible to do as day trips from here. One thing to remember, they only take cash or personal check for payment. No credit cards.

Lockview was pet friendly, and had a $30 charge for pet cleaning- totally fair. Ultimately, I ended up travelling alone, and the staff removed the pet fee and had my room ready early for check in. The staff is GREAT. It's an older but updated property, and I was able to stay in one of the connected cabins- really cool. Parking was parallel to the door, so close parking was like... 5 feet away from my driver's side door. Push button electronic locks with daily rotating codes- it felt very safe. The cabin was nice and clean, smelled clean, and the furnishings were nice. No caroet, which I prefer- vinyl plank. I enjoyed the round coffee table and the barrel chairs. Made it nice to get some work done not having to sit on a bed, (which would not have been ideal at all since they are raised) at a desk, or in a wingback with no matching height table. Water was hot, TV was great, and the only hiccup was a bad TV HDMI cable which maintenance fixed with a new one in under 15 minutes. Really happy with my stay here, would definitely stay again!

If you are looking for a 5 star luxury resort, Sault Ste. Marie is probably not the best…read moredestination for you, and the Lock View isn't the hotel for you. But, if you like a cute city with a rich maritime history, it definitely is a destination for you and you must stay at Lockview. Location, location, location! Lockview is on a main road (still quiet at night) and once you arrive you can walk to several restaurants, cute shops, and best of all the Soo Locks are right across the street. The Lock View offers a motor lodge type hotel or cabin, we chose a cabin because we were bringing of dogs. They are definitely dog friendly and only charge a one time $40 cleaning fee, not a per dog per night price. The only thing they require is that the dogs are not in the rooms when the cleaners come in, they don't want your dog to take off when they open the door. The room we had was carpeted around the beds but the rest of the room is a hard surface floor which is perfect for dogs. The room also had a mini fridge and microwave crowded as well as a coffee machine. They offer free breakfast, we never ate there so I'm not sure what it consists of. While to rooms aren't fancy, they are clean, quiet, and comfortable. There is also plenty of space to take the dogs out so they can do their business. I don't know what f the couple that checked us in are the owners, but they were so nice and helpful, explained everything regarding pets when we checked in and when we had a minor snag with our room, they were quick to fix it and get us a different room. Even though this isn't a 5 star resort, you will get 5 star service and the location is so great, I had to give 5 stars. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend.
