Cute little motel with friendly staff, nothing fancy but when all you need is a place to sleep this is it. The best part is being right across from the Soo Locks you can walk across the street and watch the freighters come through at night.

2.5 Not bad if you just need a place to crash. If you're looking for luxury, or want to spend a lot of time lounging around in your room, look elsewhere. Our room was clean and this was a fine place to stay for a night to check out the Soo Locks area. We checked in, dropped our stuff off, then headed across the street to watch a couple gigantic freighters pass through the locks before heading to dinner nearby. Also across the street are some museum / info buildings, a nice park with a large fountain and sculptures, and an updated observation deck to watch the locks from above. The motel has low rates and is located directly across the street from the Soo Locks, and sits on the outer stretch of the main street. Each door has a hand-painted longship freighter, and there was also a photo of the freighter inside the room, but that's where the theme ended. They could use a little (or a lot) of updating, and should carry the longship / maritime theme throughout the whole room. Would be cute!

Clean and cute motel right across the street from the Soo Locks. Walking distance to the shops, restaurants, and the locks. And free coffee and donuts in the morning! Owner was super friendly at check in. Let me know who had good food and which places were still open at 8:30 pm. Room was clean and comfy, but dated. Nothing fancy, but did have a fridge, microwave, and free WiFi.

The rooms are a tad old and worn but clean. Owners are really nice. But not much for the price of $80.

First the great: We…read morestayed here for two nights, and were blown away by front desk service we received from Tyler. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and very, very helpful. Thank you, Tyler! We also received exceptional service from our Saturday morning server, Charleine. We ordered off the menu (instead of the buffet). She was thoughtful, cheery, and attentive without being intrusive. Just the traits I truly appreciate in a server. The food itself from breakfast menu was delicious and the servings were ample. Coffee was delicious and I appreciated that they left the pot on the table for me. Pizza we ordered from room service was also tasty. The hotel in general has a swanky feel, and that's not a bad thing. Our room was lovely; very roomy and clean, and our mattress and pillows were SO comfortable! The room itself was very quiet, even though we were near the elevators and ice machine. Now the not so great: The A/C in the room runs very, VERY loud. If you can't handle that when you sleep, then this is not the place for you. Rob was our server on Sunday morning. I'd like to say that we received the same great service, but we did not. He was not at all attentive; he seemed like he didn't want to be there. It took three requests for me to just get a glass of water. We ordered a pizza from room service. They brought up a pizza in a box, but that was it. There were no plates, silverware, or napkins. Seems a little ridiculous for room service.

If you are comfortable camping or staying in cabins then you will be comfortable staying here. If…read moreyou are used to 3 star or better than you may be uncomfortable here but this is rural Michigan and definitely not unexpected. The biggest downside is the bathroom size. It is extremely narrow and if you are tall or a plus size person it will be uncomfortable. There is very little room between the toilet and wall or the bathtub and the wall. If you stay in the cabins there is no view but did feel like it was private. Bringing in an expert for space management and a refresh look would definitely not hurt. Here are the positives! First and foremost the staff is excellent. We encountered several employees and each and every one that helped us were all extremely kind. We have stayed at a total of 8 hotels this trip and they were by far the most friendly and welcoming staff that we came in contact with. The location is absolutely excellent for going to the Locks and going to the local shops. It was great to be able to go across the street to freshen up before a meal or in between tours. Our son had just bought an expensive mattress and went in with flashlights to look for bed bugs and none were to be found and trust me he went down to the mattresses, looked into the corners and under the mattresses as well. A couple of not unexpected moisture bugs were found later in the evening but again this is a cabin lodge type of location near the water. The room was clean and definitely as clean as several others that we stayed at. We stayed two nights but had breakfast only one day at the motel. I definitely regretted not just having breakfast there both days. The food was fresh and for the most part traditional hotel breakfast foods with a fabulous breakfast employee who could not help a person enough.

Lockview was pet friendly, and had a $30 charge for pet cleaning- totally fair. Ultimately, I ended up travelling alone, and the staff removed the pet fee and had my room ready early for check in. The staff is GREAT. It's an older but updated property, and I was able to stay in one of the connected cabins- really cool. Parking was parallel to the door, so close parking was like... 5 feet away from my driver's side door. Push button electronic locks with daily rotating codes- it felt very safe. The cabin was nice and clean, smelled clean, and the furnishings were nice. No caroet, which I prefer- vinyl plank. I enjoyed the round coffee table and the barrel chairs. Made it nice to get some work done not having to sit on a bed, (which would not have been ideal at all since they are raised) at a desk, or in a wingback with no matching height table. Water was hot, TV was great, and the only hiccup was a bad TV HDMI cable which maintenance fixed with a new one in under 15 minutes. Really happy with my stay here, would definitely stay again!

Rooms vary widely in size and shape from typical small hotel size to spacious suite. Hotel is old and outdated but in decent condition. Hallways & elevator are narrow. Our room wasn't ready at 3pm. Told come back in 20 minutes. Nope still not ready. Sat around with luggage for an hour before we could check in. Front desk staff. check out was rude, and unacceptable. Didn't acknowledge us standing there. Didn't speak to us. Printed our receipt, tossed it on counter. I asked to speak to manager, she held up sticky note that said "what for?". I wasn't sure why she wasn't talking. Maybe a handicap I thought . She just ignored us. I asked again. she wrote another note...what for?...I asked if management is there. She wrote another note...No. my husband asked if there was coffee? She ignored him. He asked again. She wrote ...It's broke. I saw someone come out of office. I asked if there was a manager. She said yes I'm manager. Really?? Front desk just lied and said you weren't here. We told her everything that happened. She didn't seem really concerned. Apologized and said she'd talk to employe. we told her if that was our employee they'd be fired on the spot. Front desk staff is first impression of hotel. Cleaning staff ...did excellent job with what they have to work with. Hotel needs major updating . Tables in our room were all scratched up and old. Bathroom floor tile cracked. Paying for all amenities and not being available and hotel needing repairs is not acceptable. For a Ramada property and cost it should be much much better. Maybe worth 89.00 to 100.00 a night. Definitely not worth $171.00 night.
