Wow, I'm surprised with all the bad reviews. My cousins and I hopped around a few gay bar/clubs last night for one of my cousin's birthday and this was one of the best spots of the night. However, there's some parts of this place that can be a little bit raunchy. There was a $10 cover charge but it was definitely worth it. There's basically Go-Go dancers (mostly Foreigners) dancing on top of the bar and they basically try to lure you to participate in the back area behind the curtains for a private $20 lap dance. I think we stayed here for almost 2 hours and I saw maybe 3 girls come that night (including myself). One of the other girls I met that night said her friend threw her behind the curtains and one of the guys showed her some clean, harmless fun. I only spotted 3 guys (one Caucasian, one Argentinian, and one Hispanic) who were amazing performers just because they looked like they were just having a good time. Many of the other performers looked like jailbait or just wasn't feeling the music. I haven't danced in years and these gay men really showed me how to loosen up and have a good time (completely sober). I would totally recommend this place for a Bachelorette Party, even though the space is extremely limited! read more

I love this place. I like to drop by here and there to say hello to the awesome owner and bartenders. They really make the place what it is. While the theme of the place is that of a fairy tail, the warmth of the place definitely comes from the ownership. I have always had a great time when I go here. It is more of a local joint, but is often rather crowded. While there are many other neighborhood bars, this one has always been very welcoming and you can both hear your friends talk and really get to know the staff and the clientele. Cover charge to see skinny ugly guys dance on the bar. I asked the bartender for a fruity vodka drink, he talked me into getting a Cosmo which cost $12. Not a friendly crowd. Just a small room. Bad part of town. No wifi either. It's a shame. Cool name and theme but I really can't think of anything good about the bar at all. Went to Posh afterwards and had the best time. read more

I loved this place! Although I was only visiting from out of town, Fairytail reminded me of the amazing gay bars of Boystown, Chicago. Not pretentious, just a good time. I was there late and there was a big crowd, but everyone seemed to be having a great time and just wanted to dance... and drink. Fairytail was definitely one of my favorite gay bars in NYC and I will definitely be back the next time I'm visiting. read more

I love this bar. It's my new neighborhood hangout. Not many tourists know about this place - and that's why I like it. Quiet on weeknights (perfect place to grab a drink and catch up with friends) and naughty and fun on the weekends and late nights... The owner is great... As are the bartenders. I recently saw the episode of Barmageddon where this establishment is featured. I must say that I was highly disappointed in the outcome. Anyone who knows anything about business knows that the other "owner" was gonna win, almost regardless of what new rules and practices he instituted. The clientele had already been established, and would have supported their favorite gay bar no matter what. I firmly believe the owner of the FairyTail Lounge was sabotaged, and a great disservice was done to him, and the true owner of the other establishment by his employees refusing to play team, and possibly learning something on how to better serve their customers. That being said, I believe your owner to be highly competent, and to truly love the enjoyment of his clientele. The atmosphere was bright, open, and flowed nicely despite the queens dancing on the bar. The idea of the stage is not a bad one, but I have a suggestion on how to better institute it. BAR ** ** ** ** ** ** The asterisks represent where I believe a total of 3 stages would do the most good. They should be at least 6 feet in diameter, and should have a dance pole going through them. The plat forms should be at least 4 feet off the ground and have maybe a ladder, or stairs to help the dancers on and off safely. This would ensure that the dancers still get plenty of attention, but not distract, or prevent the bartenders from doing their job, and everyone stays happy! I believe this place is a gold mine, and should be properly featured that way. It is only right that the FairyTail Lounge won the contest, and that in itself stats volumes on how your owner runs a business. Much props to your bar, and your owner! Blessings upon you! read more

First time at Adonis Lounge on 58th Street, as the Great Club 20 is no longer. What a let down. $10 cover, that's normal. $3 for a coat check isn't cheap but, fine, whatever, but then because I had an umbrella, it was $5 for the coat check. I had my gloves and scarf (lucky they don't charge for those!!!) and my umbrella stuffed down a sleeve of my jacket, so with only one item to hang he still wanted to charge me $5, I said no and took my coat back. He lost out on the $3 for the club and a tip! Then the drinks, yes, as everyone says, are VERY expensive. $20 for two cheap drinks, we again didn't bother tipping! There are hot guys, and naturally they're not there for love so don't expect too much interest if you're not going to pay for a dance, but the place is so small and cramped that you don't even get to see the boys. The stage at the end of the room is a joke and there is no lighting, so you're watching them in the dim glow of the room. Very little room to sit and chat. As for the backroom where they take you for a dance, god, What A Dump! Felt like you may catch something just from sitting down. Don't bother with this place unless you're really desperate, in which case, close your eyes, use your imagination and jerk off yourself, it'll be a much more pleasant experience than this "Lounge." Dear Madonna/God, Please bring back Club 20. All is forgiven. read more

I am 26 years old. I have never been to a Bar, Club or Lounge were the DJ played the Spice Girls. I was Shocked as Fuq! 3 dudes try to spit mack, I was tryna be reserved. Nextime I'm taking Numbers! This place is great, but beware if you go for a private dance. They are $20 per song and some of the dancers will try an make you think you had more songs than you had! Other than that it's a fun place, drinks are a good price, especially compared to other places read more

On the plus side, the guys were cute and keen. The place was easy to find. If you told them how many songs you wanted to go for with a lap dance, they would remind you when it was time. On the other hand, my friend and I felt like we were the only people aged under 50 there. Most of the other customers seemed to be 'older gentlemen'. The drinks were crazy expensive ($9 for a beer??). It was pretty obvious that when the dancers weren't doing so well, they started to get pretty pushy and wouldn't take 'no' for an answer. Guys beware. A dingy bar with expensive drinks if you can even get one as the bartenders are so slow. Most of the dancers are straight and hustle you for money. It's $20 a dance and they don't tell you when a song is over so you end up paying for more or they give you half a song. The dancers are very aggressive and when you are not interested they give major attitude. All they want is your money. The place tends to be hot and I had a lap dance with a dancer who had such bad BO I stopped it in the middle as I was getting sick from the smell. Save your money and go elsewhere for some fun. Lastly the music is horrible so it makes the lap dances not very enjoyable. read more

The dancers are extraordinarily aggressive and have clearly never had anyone say no to them. 2 dancers physically dragged me into the private area after I told them no several times. They forced me to sit and did a private dance, including sexually assaulting me. They then demanded hundreds of dollars from me which I did not have. I ran out and will never be back. Gay bars are supposed to be places we feel safe. This was the opposite of that. I highly recommend you steer clear. read more

Gangsters hanging out by the front door. You have to hop over lawn chairs to get into this place. Lounge I think not, One nice chair and lamp does not make a lounge. some of the furniture is real sticky, an ugly scratched up coffee table REALLY? With hardcore porn on tv all the time its more of a sex club. What is the Health dept. rating of this place. It will shock you! A little out of the way unless you want to pay for a cab. Want to gauge a place check out its bathroom.oh if you have to go real bad tough only one at a time. Drapes closed off at the only exit, I hope the Fire dept. takes a good look at this place. Came around 2:50 am on Dec. 20th and was out of there by 3:00 am having spend 30 bucks to sit 2 minutes with a dancer that was not my type. I asked before entering if there were still a lot of dancers and of course the answer was YES, but that was a plain lie to secure the $10 cover. When I complained on the way out 10 minutes later, they just had a laugh, at my expense. Upon arrival I was ushered upstairs for the last minute of a song and at the start of the second song was told that it will cost me $40 (at $20 per song). Given that I did not even like the dancer and that he was not showing me anything worth even $1 I decided to go back downstairs. To get him off my back I had to give him $20 and threaten to call the police if he insisted on $40 for what in total was less than one song. To be clear, I don't mind spending a bit on the dancer if they are nice and you feel like you are getting something for your cash, but that is not how I felt here. I have been to similar clubs in Montreal and other parts of the world and everywhere was better than what I experienced at Adonis Lounge. All I can say - there are other places to spend your hard earned cash with boys who are more deserving - a real shame as there was a cute dancer as I was leaving, but I was so fed up and felt so cheated that I did not bother sticking around. read more

Don't waste your time men! It's nothing like Gaiety Theater if that's what you were hoping for. They don't get naked and none of them know how to dance. The guys are friendly enough until you tell them you are not interested in a "private show" for $20 per song. If you do a private show, be sure to tell the guy to count each song so you can keep track of the "tip". I was basically ripped off by the only guy who convinced me he would give me a great dance. We were literally together no more than 5 minutes and when I told him to stop, he said that's 4 songs...$80!! BEWARE GUYS....they are only there to look pretty and rip off unsuspecting, lonely men. Drink Prices are ridiculously high, plus the $10 just to get in the door...you are much better off going to Montreal for the REAL experience. read more
