I brought my senior dog, Brady (we think he is a lab/airedale terrier mix) to Debbie today. He has separation anxiety and is REALLY "talkative" when kenneled, and he will match the energy of the groomer... if they're freaked out he THRIVES on that sketchy energy. I've had 2 groomers call me and be out right rude before after handling him.... I get so scared that they'll get frustrated and take it out on him. HOWEVER! Today I felt so safe and confident leaving Brady with Debbie. She is so kind, and she educated me on a little basic grooming lingo and what to ask for in the future. As I walked away, Brady was scream/barking and I could hear her talking to him (shouting at him lol) saying "you're a good boy brady! It's okay! You're a good boyyy!!!" When I picked him up she told me how amazing he was on the table, he just stands like a lil statue... he's very "talkative" when you're not giving him attention, but that isn't what matters. That made me feel so good. For once. I always get so nervous when I drop him off at a groomer and I just felt comfortable with Debbie. Honestly just from the first chat on the phone we had. I love Debbie, and my dogs are comfortable there. My 12 yr old Bichon is a pro at letting me know how he feels. He's never quaked or quivered when going to see Debbie. I like that she doesn't use heat to dry the dogs, and feel the fans are a great idea. (Bichons have hair and it frizzes when heat dried) Her location is perfect for me, and my dogs look great. Had our first experience about a week ago. I was a little surprised with the location and actually had a little trouble finding at first. She has a small area where she does all of her services but that didn't bother me at all. I walked in and she was very pleasant and kind. My dog didn't have any issues. I didn't see any cuts or any miss treatment of any kind. He smelled great his Furrer was beautiful and trimmed. The pros: Debbie is great. Wonderful with dogs, and a talented groomer. I've been taking my dog to her for years. The cons: Because of the pros I just listed, Debbie has become very popular, and subsequently SO VERY BUSY that instead of the 3-4 hours it used to take to groom my dog, it's now regularly closer to 6 hours or more. I would love to see her get some help, or just have a reasonable limit to how many dogs she sees in a day? I don't presume to know the best solution; all I know is I can't keep my dog in a small cage that long. I'm sad to report I have to find somebody else with a shorter wait time. read more

I've gone through two previous groomers..first was a horrible experience.. the second was good but way too expensive and then I gave Debbie a try.. I was impressed by how much knowledge Debbie had with my two girls and was shocked to find out that the previous groomers essentially hid the fact my pups had matting all over their legs and "swept the dirt under the rug." ...I got back to pick the girls up and she was able to simply and efficiently explain what was wrong..what needed to be done..and a new proper regiment in taking care of my pups fur. Since I moved to South Austin, I'd been searching for a good groomer, one that was affordable, highly-skilled and kind. My dog had been with his previous groomer in another state for 10 years. In Austin, I searched through dozens of Yelp reviews. Unfortunately, I went to a groomer that had five stars, only to discover that they were terrible after I had to take both dogs to the vet after my last visit. Then someone sent me to a specific groomer at PetSmart. Not the best place, either. More searching again, and I discovered Debbie's excellent reviews. I looked at the dog photos and called her. She was so kind and knowledgeable and took the time to listen to my needs and then explain what she does. Debbie certainly knows her "stuff." I've never had any groomer explain in detail about grooming, which helped me understand what I wanted for my dog. Debbie is a rock star and treats the dogs with such kindness. This is the second time I've taken my dog to Debbie, and she did another fantastic job. I love that it's a small place, so there are only a few dogs, no hysterical barking, and the dogs get to see what's going on. Debbie did an outstanding job with my elderly cockapoo, middle-aged schnauzer, and two-year-old corgi-ish mix. My cockapoo is especially concerning because she is blind and fragile. She looks gorgeous and obviously feels better with the thorough clipping Debbie performed. My somewhat standoff-ish corgi-ish baby was fast friends with Debbie when I picked them up this evening.
