He warmed up extremely quickly to them even though he had to be worked on for a good amount of time. The lady at the front desk was NOT customer friendly at all. They introduced me to the woman who was supposed to cut my dogs hair and when I picked him up a different woman was with my dog. Here to confirm all the claims of the receptionist being rude. I love our groomer, Jamie, who has taken great care of my dog the 4-6 times we have been here, but I am seriously considering going somewhere else because I cannot bare to be around that receptionist any longer. I don't think she's qualified to make recommendations on my dog's cuts either. When Jamie's not busy, she is always the one to come out and say hello, and take a look at my dog's situation and that's what I prefer. The receptionist also refuses to answer the phone ever. I called twice in front of the door, and after no answer I went inside and saw her doing nothing. She's short with people, changes the subject on questions or comments she doesn't feel like answering, and is just overall a salty person. read more

With the pandemic going on right now, everything in the city is shut down so I wanted to take the time to express how bummed I am that my dogs aren't able to get the special treatment from them! We take our pup here for nail trimmings only. She's a short hair breed so no grooming needed. They welcome walk-ins for the nail trimmings and they're very affordable. Prices have gone up since Covid, but still half the cost to get it done by a vet tech. We take our pup here because they use a grinder instead of clippers, and she's a little sensitive to clippings. Found this little gem thanks to Yelp "walk in dog nail clipping". No appointment necessary for dog nails. However, the term "nail clipping" isn't entirely accurate. This is nail filing. Done with an electric rotary grinding tool. Less traumatic for the dog and quick, however stinky (burning smell) and claw dust flying thru the air. The groomer had me help hold my dog and she was wearing a dust mask, however, I was not. I couldn't help being focused on all the dust I was breathing in. A simple solution to this problem would be to keep a box of disposable dust masks available and to offer one to the owners too. You can't beat the price ($5 cash or $8 credit card). The check-in receptionist and the groomer who did the filing were both very nice. And the dogs I saw being groomed seemed happy and well-handled. read more

As a first time customer, I'm weary of places that I'm supposed to leave my fur babies of 13 years when they don't feel welcoming and warm. I have a regular groomer that wasn't available for a month due to other circumstances and I had to get my pups groomed due to the heat. Service aptitude at the front desk leaves a lot to be desired. I stood there with my two dogs in arms and greeted the staff when I walked in. One woman looked up and smiled. Another in the front area was engaged in a discussion with her colleague about her upcoming apartment move and completely ignored me, then walked away. I said hi again. Nothing. There were like 6 people working at the grooming stations that didn't address me either. When I was finally greeted it wasn't "hi, hello, how are you" .. nothing like you'd expect. It was a dead stare and the woman held up some sort of spreadsheet and looked at me like I was supposed to direct her in conversation. So I gave her the names of my dogs and she went to the side door to confirm what services they needed. Instead of taking my dogs back one at a time - I'll remind yo their are very old - she tried to grab both in her arms to take both back. One of them (a chihuahua) nipped at her as she lunged to let him on the face and she immediately became defensive about that and said she might not be able to groom him. I promptly advised her that I've her seen any person responsible for handling dogs approach them that way and she - or another staff member - needed to figure it out and handle him properly, with more care. Again this is all while she remained very unfriendly. Just not the vibe that made me comfortable at all. I really needed this appointment for them. Bessie I had read a few good reviews I decided to move forward. A few hours later the called and said my pups were ready. Picked them up and they looked so cute. I do t think they had much water though, but the groomers did a pretty good job. The same unfriendly lady was there to hand them over and I was I bothered because they did what I needed them to do. Again - not at all the type of welcoming atmosphere that would make most people feel good but I'll use them again in a pinch. They are substantially cheaper and closer to my house than my normal groomer but id rather go to her because I feel great leaving them there and am alway welcomed by friendly who really care about the experience. Would k recommend? Yes. Will I make them my primary? Hell no. I really hope that unfriendly lady wasn't the owner... Do better. read more

I have a Kerry Blue Terrier which is a breed with a very specific traditional style cut, and most groomers don't know how to cut them. We had her cut about a month ago, and she came out looking very odd. We did some research and thanks to the Kerry Blue Foundation website we found 1 groomer in Austin who cuts Kerry Blues, Bridget. Bridget was very responsive to our emails, and when we called Laura's the front desk was extremely friendly and booked us an appointment. I live north, and Laura's is located very far south, but the long drive was worth it. I dropped my dog off in the morning before work between 7:30am - 9:00am. The staff were friendly, the space is clean and open. You can see dogs getting cut right behind the reception desk if you wanted too. No hidden behind the scenes stuff going on here. I left and received a call later in the afternoon to let me know when my dog was done. The shop closes at 5:30 pm and I was sure to arrive prior to pick up my pups. Bridget had a tough job ahead of her as there were lots of harsh lines left by the previous groomer. I was surprised by how well Bridget was able to fix things up in the first try, as it will take several cuts to get my dog back on track to the standard Kerry look. Bridget was very informative and chatted with me for awhile even while she was finishing up another dog. The prices for grooming were standard and right on for the area. Even more importantly my dog left super happy and well taken care off. Bridget was a miracle worker, and DEFINITELY deserves to be listed on the Kerry Blue Foundation website for being knowledgeable in cutting this breed. We will definitely be taking the long drive down every 3 months for my dogs hair cut. read more

I used to get my dog groomed at Pet Smart but the staff was always rude. I absolutely love this grooming salon!!! The receptionist is always in a great mood and is super welcoming. I've been to Laura's Doggie Doo's a few times now, and I'm very happy to be a (somewhat) regular customer. Since my Boston Terrier mix, Brutus, doesn't require any kind of haircut, I cannot comment on their ability to style dog fluff, but I can say Laura has a solid business. Every time I've called they have set me up with an appointment the same day, which is convenient. The first time I picked up my little buddy I was glad to see him as soon as I walked to the check-in counter. The kennels are in a back room, but they can be seen through an open doorway, which absolutely puts me at ease; if the dogs are visible to customers, employees have that much more incentive to make sure the animals are safely tucked away. Now that I go to Laura's, I don't like the idea of sending my dog to a backroom I've never seen. It's a comfort thing. Every time Brutus springs forward to greet me after his appointment I'm pleased with his trim nails and shiny coat. And the price is definitely right - just a little over $20. The price is great, $5 cash or $8 charge, but I wasn't told I needed to help in the process. When calling the establishment I was told "we do nail trimming", and I didn't realize I was part of that we. Not the worst experience but most definitely a first, and it just didn't get better.
