I have dropped in with a minor injury and I have had appointments for blood test and stitches out. Every time I have received great service, the staff have been lovely and helpful and the wait no to bad. The car parking is across the road but you have to pay and display which is annoying when you don't know how long you're going to be.

The problem with the centre is that if you feel quite ill, but not an emergency then you are looking at at least a week to wait for an appointment. If you do have an emergency, then a nurse will call you back, sometimes soon but generally about a couple of hours later. HHmmmmm, not good if you're really ill!

The doctors seem to be decent - at least the ones I've seen! The staff are helpful which is always nice, and not always guaranteed in medical centres unfortunately. The nurse, anaesthetist and surgeon all saw me within the first hour of arriving and the anaesthetist was incredibly thorough; she talked through my pre-existing conditions and thoroughly checked me over. The technician and post-op nurses were also so friendly and made me feel at ease! Very grateful.

The reception and admin staff are polite and courteous, making efforts to accommodate your appointment and work around your schedule, often calling you back if a more convenient slot becomes available. They are very professional and maintain patient confidentiality, and speak about patients respectfully when talking to each other (which I have seen reception staff fail to do in so many other practices). The waiting rooms are clean and comfortable, displaying useful information and calling you to the surgery rooms via a large screen. There is even an electronic check-in desk where you can sign in for your appointment when the reception desk is very busy. All of the doctors and practice nurses I have seen have been professional and caring, and I would recommend this surgery to anyone living in the catchment area.

Salford Royal is a large, modern hospital, around five miles from Manchester city centre, if…read moreheading here from the city centre, you can hop on the 34/67/100 buses, and it takes around 20 minutes or so, which would be your best bet, as parking is a nightmare. One of the largest hospitals in the area, but may feel under-appreciated or underused with the Manchester Royal Infirmary only a short drive away, which is the largest hospital in the country by the number of beds. The hospital was redeveloped in the early 2010s which was much needed, and the refreshed look still feels modern to this day, it is fairly easy to get around the hospital and find where you need to go, the environment is clean, and the staff are friendly, with overly good standards. I did find a huge contrast between certain areas and wings of the hospital, even down to the modern features and comfort of the chairs, but it is the NHS... you can't expect too much. It's surprisingly easy to get through to someone at the hospital's switchboard, and I was passed to my consultant's secretary and appointment line in a matter of minutes, which is how it should be, while other hospitals can be much more inconsistent. Mobile Signal in the hospital is weak, likely down to equipment interfering with the connection. 4*

I felt this place was very welcoming and warm, I especially could see how devoted to her clients the head matron was. As for the 'luxury nursing home', the rooms in the main house were nice and could be personalised, if you can afford it you could instead choose to rent out one of the houses on the street with antiques, chandeliers, and expensive carpets! So you are really living independently but at the same time have help on hand. They seem to have a good social agenda and really cater to the choices of their clients including a chauffered Bentley, although wonder how available it is as I'm sure my father would want to be cruising around in it all day.... hmmm.

In fact I enjoyed quite good health during the period and only had to go there once (as I recall) for any sort of medical issue -- it was only very minor and the problem was sorted out very efficiently. (I had to return a couple of times, I think, to get the matter resolved and each visit went smoothly). I remember the doctors, nurses and support staff as all being very friendly and efficient; registering was easy and getting appointments was straightforward too. So all in all: a decent medical centre.
