Horrible! I spent 2 hours on the phone just to make the appt. for them to send out an installer. Part of that conversation was making clear that I wouldn't do auto pay, in which they assured me that wouldn't have to be. Lie #1! I was told that AT MOST, it would take 2 hours for installation. It took 4 hours. Lie #2! The installer told me that in order for us to get the advertised price of $27.99, we had to endure A TRIAL for $54 per month, then call customer service to cancel it. WRONG! He installed a cell service that we didn't approve for the inflated amount, then learned that we'd have to have the installer back out to move the key pad to reinstall it for $27.99. Lie #3! I told them during the initial 2 hour conversation that the billing address would be different from the physical address. They told me the installer would take that information. The installer told me I'd have to call customer service. My mother had to sign the contract. I reminded him that I would not use auto pay, so make sure she wasn't signing up for that. He looked me right in the eye and said she wasn't. Lie #4! I just spent 2 more hours on the phone trying to straighten everything out and in the end ended up cancelling the service and contract. Buyer beware! They run a bate and switch operation. The contracted installer came to the house and put the hard sell on my wife. He then installed the keypad before we had agreed to a final price. then the package that we had agreed to on the phone with a salesperson turned out to be much more expensive for less service. The cherry on top was that the installer was out of window stickers and yard signs! Don't do business with this company. I won't do business with this company again. The local installer was called "Defender Home Security" and they were terrible. read more

We just moved from Colorado to Arizona. Before we left Colorado, an ADT rep discussed moving our account to AZ. We wanted to wait until we got settled in in AZ and we informed the rep that we wanted to cancel our CO service on 10/2. On the 15th of Oct, we were billed for the next month of ADT service. After calling them, they said that they had no record of our cancelling and that we could have the 30 day notification to terminate waived and that our service would be stopped on the 15th. There was no apology or "sorry", but that is the way it is...I will be looking for a new security service after 24 years of loyal service. read more

n Phoenix, NOT BBB Certified, I was grandfathered in from Brinks to ADT. Paying $35/mo very poor customer service. Alarm panel high pitched beeping every 15 seconds. (Panel is in Master BR no way to sleep through it) I am told they can't get someone OUT FOR A WEEK. i ASK THE SERVICE REP "CAN YOU HEAR THIS BEEPING OVER THE PHONE???" She admitted that she could and it was loud enough to wake the dead. She had nothing to offer. A couple of hours later.....I finally call tech support who tells me how to disconnect panel myself. I also call to ask how to change the code and was told I have old Brinks technology and no way to change it. So I really have NO SECURITY from people who are no longer living in household. Changed to COX, when Cox disconnected panel no call from ADT that my service was disconnected!!! Called the next day to tell them I had switched to Cox which by the way allows me to use my Smart Phone to turn on and off the alarm, has my code and codes for visitors, also a camera for $12 less a month. ADT tells me I have to give them a 30 day notice. I tell them that is not in my BRINKS contract. They tell me that doesn't matter that ADT bought the contract. I asked to speak to a manager. ONE COULDN'T BE FOUND. i told the service rep that if a manager did not call me I was going to write them up on the BBB. THEY AREN'T ON THE BBB. FORGET ABOUT USING THEM. COX ALREADY CALLED ME TWO DAYS POST INSTALLATION TO SEE IF i HAD QUESTIONS AND CONNECTED ME TO TECH SUPPORT FOR MY VERY SIMPLE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE KEY PAD. read more

Do not sign a contract with ADT Security Services - When trying to disconnect my service, I was told I needed to fax a professional style letter to 800-873-7940 and then wait 2 weeks for confirmation my fax was received. Then 30 days letter I would be granted approval to disconnect service. My contract with ADT expired 2 years ago so I asked to speak with a supervisor and was placed on hold for over 45 minutes. While on hold, a recording reminded me over and over again that I can activate and deactivate the ADT alarm system via a smart phone. But, I have to use archaic technology to shut off the account? I don't own a fax machine, and I don't know anyone who does. To make matters worse, I have a $400 credit on the account that will be held for 2 years and can only be used for future products or services. Do not use ADT Security Service - they are too hard to do business with in the modern world. read more

stay away from this company. thy lie and steal from you via additional charges that even they cant explain. ive had the service for a few years and nowadays it is down constantly with txt messages "unable to communicate with server" during this time anyone can break in and no one will know it. today they debited my account for 147.00 and why is the question they cant answer. as my bill is 70.00 on the 3rd and yes im current. well i notified my bank and reported this a fraud. the system does not even meet statues in phoenix as its constantly unable to communicate. this has to be the worst ran major corporation ive had the unpleasant experience of dealing with. how they manage to stay in business is beyond me. must be owned by the Clintons with all the subterfuge and outright lies they tell you. and don't even think of buying video system from them its advertised as you buy cameras lol yes you purchase them and they will tell you that they are yours....till you read the contract and it plainly states they maintain ownership af all equipment and will remove video systems even if you cancel service after contract is up. thank god i actually read the fine print before i sign anything. id of wasted 745.00 on purchases i cant keep. it would be like buying a car the after all is payed for you switch brands and they come take it. i am not sure who to switch to but it dont really matter as adt systems are down constantly so may as well not have an alarm system. what happened to respectable company's in this country. id give them -50 stars and the finger but that would put me at there level. oh and when talking to them dont sound upset or they take the "dont use that language " statement and i didnt even cuss....no wonder they dont have local corporate hq it must be in third world nation to keep the upset customers from lining up across town to get what they pay for. read more
