Customer service horrible- ADT doesn't want to lose their customer so they stall on phone trying to keep you as a customer immediately reduce bill by half then raise voice about jeopardizing your safety- I asked to be canceled multiple times then decided to record conversation - Linda said it wasn't allowed - however it is allowed so long as they know and are aware. We were customers for 5 years and had I known the tactics they'd use when we cancel I would've never had them as a service. read more

I've been an ADT customer for over 20 years. Originally, the service was outstanding. I had direct contact with a single, responsive and polite, person. Since those days the customer service has gotten worse and worse. I've now canceled my service and would NEVER consider giving ADT another chance without seeing significant changes in their service. Start with making changes at your call-center ADT. Your people need to be able to speak English and have training on how to perform their jobs. being transferred six times is never going to make a good customer experience. read more

BEWARE of ADT in Boise ID. My service hasn't worked for over 3 months and now they want to charge me over $8,000 to cancel a service that never worked! Absolute sham and rip off. My husband and I purchased a new home and wanted an alarm system. We had worked with ADT in the past and thought going with them would be a good choice. Called to get an install. BIG MISTAKE. They sent out Safe Streets to do the install. At no time ever was it disclosed to us that they are a subcontractor. We got 2 cameras installed along with a doorbell camera and a panel. A month later, we changed internet routers (router, not provider) and the cameras would not connect. Reset the cameras, did troubleshooting on their app etc. NOTHING would connect the cameras, unless a tech came out. Called ADT they sent me to Safe Streets. This was the first disclosure that we were working with a third party. The tech came out and first words were did they tell you me walking up to your door is a fee and what you are asking me to do is $1000, which they HAD NOT, just connect the cameras to the new router. This is more than the entire system and install cost by more than triple. I told him to leave. He then said you need to call ADT and break your contract as this is how they do it. Then call us back and we will install without ADT for another fee. Must be a competition for worst service between the companies. There was no support from ADT or Safe Streets. In working with another company they pointed out to us that this camera would NEVER connect without a tech it has to be disassembled from the back to access a particular reset button -- They are currently threatening to ruin our credit because we are refusing to pay the duration of the 3 year contract for a system that worked for 1 month. The contract is a service contract that was not providing a service. Mind you the set up was to come with 3 window sensors that we did not even take as we were getting new windows installed-- read more

I used to love this company for customer service and quality, then my wife filed for divorce and ADT decided to put themselves right in the middle of everything. She lied to obtain a temporary protective order and then ADT cancelled my contract without my authorization then tried to charge me $800 for early termination of my contract. Furthermore their technician lied about damage to the alarm system to try and help her in court. Really crappy people at the local Boise office. I would look elsewhere for an alarm company. read more

Our company upgraded our security system several weeks ago. ADT continues to bill us for our previous system and the new upgraded system. Several calls to get this correct (we are waiting for confirmation) and the new system is not working correctly. Our Salesman is not able to help beyond suggesting we contact customer service (animated phone maze and help center staff reading from a computer screen somewhere that has been no help at all) When we do have the help center on the line they ask us to do the same thing, and we receive the same results. Our store manager is having to come to the store on his days off to sit and wait 2+ hours for this process to run. No one will forward us to another level of help to move beyond this point. Protecting our business is extremely important and to have left it in the hands of a company that is so difficult to work with is what I consider a incredible mistake and are looking at ways to undue this and find a new company to work with. ADT has got to be the worst company and security company there is! All they want is your money and if you have a problem they connect you to someone overseas that you can't understand. Even service calls are done over the phone. If I could give less than one star I would. read more

We had ADT in Florida, didn't realize we signed a 3 yr contract, called to cancel service moved back to Idaho. The early termination fee was ridiculous, so we decided to go with ADT + and of course are locked into another contract. We were told by signing up with ADT +, the termination fee would be waived...not only did we get charged for our first month with ADT +, we also paid the termination fee! My husband and I both have tried to contact ADT to get a refund, but have talked to I don't know how many people, been hung up on, transferred, put on hold for over an hour, we both work so we CAN'T stay on the phone. The ABSOLUTE WORST Customer Service and experience EVER and it's still not resolved!!! I am telling everyone unless this gets taken care of ASAP! Extremely disappointed had I known this I would have never gone with ADT....period!!!!!! read more

The service was fine, but I'm moving after a year and a half and apparently they charge 75% of the remaining contract to turn off the service if you turn it off before three years. When I asked to see the contract that I signed agreeing to this the agent simply hung up on me. In my opinion that's a predatory business practice. I would never recommend this company to anyone. read more

Trying to terminate our contract! Called and spoke with a nice lady that said she had taken care of closing our account. We got SimpliSafe. Still got a statement. Called again... no record of previous call. Got disconnected, no call back. No online method of termination. Very frustrating!!! read more

If you use them make sure you understand it's a 3 year contract. They are not customer service oriented that is for sure! I will never use or recommend this company ever again. I dont like a hard sell but can understand one. They first come in and install the panel and THEN try to up sell you on all their add ons. Again... I don't like it but I get it. HOWEVER one thing I do not like and will call someone on it and that's a fake deal. Don't tell me you going to save me 900 dollars by giving me 8 120 dollar sensors for free when I KNOW they are only worth 20 bucks. I appreciate 8 sensors at 160 dollar value WAY more. BUT one thing I will NOT tolerate is using fear mongering as a sales tool. I know all the bad things that can happen to my daughter AND is likely the reason I call an alarm company out. But to use her safety as a hard sell tool I will tell you to take your panel off my wall and go. And I did. I will NEVER do business with this company ever for all the reasons listed above... I'd give 0 Stars if I was able. And also from the look of the reviews I am not the only person they try to hard sell this way. Get as far away as you can from these people! read more

Not user friendly! I find the system difficult to use and not easy to get any help from staff once it's installed.

I'm going through the same situation. I had ADT for many years; since the late 80's. They were great in the beginning and for years to come but just two years ago they gave me a call to upgrade. I asked, is there any contract? He said no and I asked him again when he was at my home. Ive since moved out of state and to a place that has security (retirement area). I've since received a bill for over $600.00 for services, as they say I signed a contract, which I didn't, per the man who came to my home told me. Yesterday I received a statement they turned into collections for the amount of $656.63. I called the collection company and they told me to contact ADT, which I've tried to do but it's been unsuccessful. The equipment is still at my Boise home; I did not bring it with me. Still at the home with the new owners. I'm very frustrated at this point and I don't know what to do. I'm retired and do not want to pay for something I didn't sign up for. Maybe the guy took advantage of the fact I can't see very well? I'm very upset with ADT, especially after being a loyal and long time customer. I also cannot give them much of a rating. I had to sign up for a 3 year contract to put a system in my mom's house (out of state). She was no longer in that house within a few months, so I transferred it to my house. They have been pretty useless when it comes to customer service, at both locations. The phone calls are a joke, they give you a run around. There does not seem to be a way to contact them via email or online. And since I could not remember what the password was that I signed up with (while under a ton of stress) they are not letting me do anything to this account! I cannot wait to cancel it in a month. (Oh, and they just went to a 3 months at once payment system, then had the audacity to add almost $4 to that fee, too!) I think I will try SimplySafe next. read more

Have had ADT for over 20 yrs at my business. In the last few years ADT has lost what customer service is about. Tried to call regarding an issue and was on the phone for 4 hours and transferred to seven different people in between being put on hold for several mins.! This company has turned into a joke! Had no security in my business for days and they said not their problem and do not notify the customer when they notice a change on their end. And nothing is showing a pad on the customers end! LOVELY! But would send out a tech for $115.00 for the first hour then $30.00 for each 15 mins. after that! TAKING MY BUSINESS ELSE WHERE ....WHERE THEY TRULY CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS! ADT Home Security is s shame. They use a company called " Defenders" to contract the customer. They can over charge you, they can increased your monthly charge. ADT buys the contract from Defenders after 3 months. ADT will not give out Defenders address or phone number My first 2 months were not even monitored as the Defender installer did not do it correctly. Watch out for the heavy pressure sales tactics. They tried to sell me a $5000 system on a 3 year home which had a new system with the home. The installer was very rude when I told him I was not going to purchase anything. Bottom line is DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH ADT. THEY DO NOT MONITOR YOUR SYSTEM. THEY HAVE BECOME TOO BIG TO HANDLE THE AMOUNT OF CUSTOMERS. IF YOU CANCEL YOUR CONTRACT BEFORE THE CONTRACT END, THEY STILL CHARGE YOU, EVEN IF YOU MOVE TO AN APARTMENT WHERE YOU CAN NOT USE IT. How can a company make you pay for a service you can't use. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM ADT. FIND ANOTHER MONITORING COMPANY. You will save yourself some headaches. read more

I reviewed ADT before. They are awful. I left the last review saying I had ordered yard signs by phone and had called twice because I hadn't received them. Both times I was told to wait longer. It's been a month. I tried to order them online today, but it told me I was unauthorized to create an account and when I called the ADT 800 number they said they were having problems and I should call back later. This is so typical of them. I shouldn't have to jump through so many hoops just to get stupid yard signs. My last review talked about how their billing was so terrible, now I know everything about them is terrible. read more

service tech charged us $100 for a fob, then the company illegally entered our checking account and took another $100 out. we are current in our account and pay by credit card, not checking. when we contacted ADT (after waiting over 30 minutes on hold), we were told that it would take at least 30 days for them to refund our money. this is thievery, and i should not have to wait for my money that they stole from me. read more
