ADT stands for ALL DISAPPOINTING TRASH!!!! Do Not think of having this installed in or out of your home. I have had this system a long time it has NEVER WORKED PROPERLY. The Front of my house NEVER RECORDS ANYTHING!!!!! I have had Vandalism the police ask for the footage out system shows motion NO RECORDING !!! Cameras have been reinstalled - updated - rewired - replaced to this day you will not even see my mailman deliver the mail!!!! I have a housekeeper NO RECORDING of her bringing supplies into the house. Guest walk right up NO RECORDING. I have had no less than 12 technicians come attempt to resolve the problems. ADT will send a tech out after you call wait a few days wait for tech to arrive. The techs will diagnose, chat politely, add this piece or that piece. Tweak the system and head off. There isn't even a recording of ANY TECH leaving my house cause this SYSTEM IS CRAP AND DOES NOT WORK!!!!! I welcome ADT to review the 10-15 service calls and visits to my residence and SHOW ME MY MAIL CARRIER just once deliver the mail to my house. The vandalism at my home isn't recorded, neighbors dog droppings not recorded, visitors not recorded, pizza nor takeout food delivery never recorded. ADT should NOT BE ALLOWED to market / install this equipment for payment!!!! PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE HOME SECURITY FROM ADT!!!!! You will waste your hard earned money and your time waiting for you service appt. Then waste more chat with service tech. Only to realize the system recorded the tech hat and-or face while adjusting the camera!!!!! The other two cameras on the side and rear of the house have a 65% failure rate. If my landscaper is working in our yard I might have two three or four random video clips of him being on the property PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME and/or Money WTH THIS COMPANY. Beware. I entered into a contract for my 90 yr old mother w/ dementia's home. She was unable to understand the Agreement and I was duped into putting it in my name. I had security system installed by there contracted installers "Defenders" Beware, they tell you want to hear and promise the world, once you sign the customer service is beyond awful!!!! My installer Andrew Swatkowski seemed to be wonderful while he was selling the job of course, but once I needed his help, no assistance. I was a previously customer of ADT security service. After my horrible experience I will never ever sign up with this dishonest company ever again. I signed a 2 yr contract and within that time, the price was raised 3 times. After the contract was up I called and immediately canceled. I even made it clear to ask if I had any balance and or fees. There customer service stated everything was cleared. Now 2months later, I get a letter from a collections company, requesting to collect money for ADT. I already feel like I was lied to when they kept increasing my price during the 2 yr contract, now this!!! I suggest no one should ever sign up with the fraudulent company. read more

ADT is NOT being competitive! They are really NO different than their competitors! I recently requested to have another monitor installed to the CCTV system in my house. The cost of the 19" monitor alone was $250.00. The monitor was nothing special and could be bought at any store for around $89.00. Then the installation to run a wire roughly 30" with nothing in the way from the hub to the new 19" monitor was $290.00. So $540.00 to get a new monitor. What a joke! ADT charges far too much. Their markups are ridiculous! There are many reviews about ADT and they are almost all really bad. If I had it to do over again I would NOT get anying from ADT and I would go with either AT&T or Comcast. I hope this reviews helps. read more

I have never had worse service from any company at any time. I got a clueless installer who had no idea what to do. I have tried to phone for an adjustment and I have spoken to 7 people to no avail up to and including someone at corporate headquarters. I have stopped payment on my credit card and they can go to court on a contract I may or may not have agreed to. I signed nothing and will not. I am now talking to alternate suppliers. They are large, unresponsive, inefficient, ineffective and simply awful. read more

Horrible experience. We signed with ADT as our security provider for our business and had nothing but problems from day 1. The alarm was not installed correctly and we had to have a technician come out 4 times to fix it and then reinstall a sensor they missed. Then the alarm kept going off constantly the first few days. One time we sent the police out to a false alarm and because our permit had not been filed yet (which they neglected to inform us we needed to do) we were charged $300 by the city of Miami for a false alarm. I've had nothing but issues with this alarm system from day 1 and now a $300 bill from Miami to top it off. I would definitely NOT recommend ADT after the experience we've had. read more

I had numerous false alarms when I had ADT - they sent out techs at $75 per 45 minutes to fix the problem but it never was. I finally quit them and hired Global Security, which sent out a tech who found the problem in minutes - a frayed wire on a door. He fixed it and four years later, no false alarms. ADT tried to charge me a $150 cancellation fee. I told them to take me to court because I wasn't paying. They dropped the matter. read more

I had a bad experience today. The technician was supposed to come to my home between the hours of one and five. He did not show. I called and I was told the technician came to my home the day before. He did not. It took ADT 30 minutes to answer the phone so I can discuss this matter with a representative. I asked to speak to a supervisor and I was told one would call me in 30 to 40 minutes. No supervisor called. Could you imagine a company as big as ADT with such terrible customer service? They need to spend less money on marketing and advertising and more on hiring people to answer the phone and more on training their customer service team. Buyer beware. read more

Joe Belch sold me a new system gave him the deposit, installer named Felix came he took a check for the balance AND SOMEONE IN THEIR COMPANY TOOK AN EXTRA $1500.00 from my checking account!! Have been fighting to get it back!!! No one will give me a straight Anwser! Oh they admit there was a $1500 overcharge but they don't know when they're going to get that back to me possibly 15 days!! The MOST HORRIBLE security company I have ever done business with. Cancelled after 5 years because we are selling the house and waiting to close on another in the area. Was going to use ADT BUT they sent a final bill for $ 110.00 and right away sent the invoice out to a collection agency. I'm sure it was a mistake. Trying to move after 9 months, after I spent $600 to install equipment, and now they are telling me I would have to have an additional 3 year contract and pay to have new equipment installed for an additional $600. Randi R. is absolutely, DO NOT GET INVOLVED with this company. They are bunch scammers and can't be trusted. The 1st sales rep. gave a $49 install, plus a $44 monthly monitoring service. The installer comes the next day and the price goes up to $149 for the install. The install comes back a 2nd day and now the install is $249, but I said "no". The installer calls his office they tell him not to charge for the additionl equipment, he scribbles all over the contract. Of course my house was broken into and I'm terrified. I pay him the orginal $49 and the monthly fee is deducted from my account for 6 months, but I keep getting an additional bills for $204. I call ADT to find out this bill is for inststallation. I explain and am referred to the Miramar office, but I'm given the wrong phone #, I called several times but received no call back. I'm getting collection calls from ADT, I explain the changing install price, but they can't help me. I finally get the original sales rep., he tells me the cost for the install is $149 which I pay and clears the bank 2/28/12. My March monthly monitoring payment is taken out of my acct. and then my acct. is cancelled and I'm sent a bill for $1024 for cancelling my contract, which I did not do. Another sales rep. comes to my house to reactivate my acct. by having me sign an all new contract. And, I have a feeling I'm still going to owe the $1024, plus the monthly payments for the new contract. I called ADT again they tell me I actually owe $151.95 after I paid my monthly fee withoul fail for 6 months.after I sent the $149 so ADT cancelled my contract for $2.95and they still can't help me and refer me ack to the Miramar office. And mean while I have no monitoring service. DO NOT WORK WITH THE MIRAMAR ADT OFFICE AND IF YOU CAN FIND ANOTHER HOME SECURITY SERVICE GO WITH THEM. THIS COMPANY IS A BUNCH OF SCAM ARTISTS WORKING FOR COMMISSIONS NO MATTER WHAT. AND i STILL HAVE NO MONITORING SERVICE. FIND A DIFFERENT SECURITY SERVICE. I had the best experience ever with a service company. I was having problems with my alarm system. It was installed many years ago by a company that was bought out and then re bought out. Eventually it was bought out by ADT. They sent out a service manager who saw all the old wiring and control boxes. He returned 2 days later with everything needed to get my system up and running again. He was very profesional and cordial. I don't understand the negative reviews except to say that they seem to be referring to a Miami office while this one is out of Miramar Fl. The absolute worst company on the planet!!!! I had them years ago every month there was a problem wit the service and I kept getting charged for them to come out and fix, (I was never fixed) I changed to devcon and had no problems then devcon got bought by adt and again nothing but problems with the service and with customer service, I have tenants in there now and I have updated the account 10 times with the tenants contact info and they still call and send me the bill, for a service that still does not work. When I tried to cancel I was transferred to 4 different people and put on hold for 20 minutes at one time. Stay far far away!!!!! read more

What a horrible experience I have had with ADT. My alarm went off at 1:40 AM for no reason. Then I was told that if I want someone out in a timely manner to fix it there would be a charge. Stay away. My alarm stopped working and they wanted to send a technician and charge me $80 for the first hour and $20 every additional 15 minutes. I told them to cancel and then they changed it to free for the first two hours. I asked them to fix it for free no matter how long and they wouldn't budge. BAD COMPANY. They came to install a security system at my home. In order to do so, a permit had to be pulled with the county. It is now a few months later and the permit was never closed properly by ADT. Now the county is coming after me and has fined me $500.00 for this issue. I've called ADT, including the local number and NOTHING. No call back, just voicemails and a lot of incompetence. I plan on taking this matter to court if I am forced to deal with this matter myself. These people are the worst. Don't ever use them. ADT uses authorized ADT dealers and they are scam artists. I called ADT to come do an install and they offered me free outdoor cameras along with all the other indoor basics and i Mean basic. They charge extra for everything, and in addition left me three indoor cameras that they said they would replace, Lied, with three outdoor cameras when they are available next week. Scam Artists. Don't go near them. They don't even sell outdoor cameras anymore. They don't service them nor do they have them. I talked with the main office and they said they have no intention of selling outdoor cameras in the immediate future as they cannot service them. I have called and asked them to remove the system . No response . They don't care, they want to charge an early term fee even though they didn't deliver anything that they promised. The Defenders is what they call themselves in South Florida. If you hear that name be prepared to defend your Money cause they are bigger thieves than the ones that burglarize your home. We purchased the service on January 2012, we paid every thing, the permit, equipment, first month of service, but recently the City called because we don't have a Permit. It has been already 3 Months and nothing, ........ as the other lady stated on here.. she is directly on point -- You will spend countless hours being transferred and never getting anything resolved! These people are experts at pointing fingers. In my case, it was the City that didn't advise them of the updated fees. The fees were updated years ago. LOL Pathetic. One more thing -- they quote you hundred(s) for the city permit when it is actually 25 to 50 dollars. Even if you get past these initial issues, their customer service is awful and their response time is admitedly nonsense. My alarm went off one time and I NEVER got a phone call (only time it has gone off). They told me that they did not know my alarm had gone off. Ridiculous.
