Horrible company to work with, their products don't work as intended, and it's about impossible to get out of the contract. The worst part, they don't even care. I'm not sure how they still exist as a company. Everywhere you go they have less than a 2 star rating, and for good reason. This company needs to go bankrupt. I've been having non stop issues with their crappy fire alarms, cameras that don't detect properly, and a doorbell that doesn't ring ..total and complete waste of money, and they refused to send someone out to address the situation, despite me telling them multiple times this cannot be fixed over the phone. Oh, and they forced me to purchase the more expensive console despite them knowing it wouldn't ring when the doorbell is pressed, without them disclosing that issue. Complete and utter incompetence, joke of a company. Furthermore, they also have a nasty reputation of treating their third party companies who actually install their crappy products with zero care or appreciation. Just read their reviews..nightmare situations of their third party installers nearly dying because of the way their systems are set up, and they refuse to cover any medical bills or provide insurance, and will not pay for home damage/repair bills because of faults within their systems - just a downright evil company to work with. I've had ADT for over 18 years, I would have thought they would treat long-term customers better!! They seem to think they have free reign of pulling funds out of my bank account. We bought a house that came with an alarm system already installed and the old owners are still on the account and we've been trying to deactivate the system as the fire department has showed up to our door twice due to false smoke detector alarms. I have called multiple times and they tell me I am not on the contract and there is nothing that can be done, although we now own the system as it came with the house we have purchased and lived in for over a month. Initially, we had asked ADT to come out and link the current system to us as we OBVIOUSLY wanted to continue to use the existing equipment (2 cameras, alarms on all 4 doors and all 11 windows, smoke detectors and doorbell and keypad doorknobs also connected to the system) and when they got here we were told the equipment is "obsolete" and can't be reused and new equipment to replace what was already here would cost 10K... LIES, they just want to make money. In addition to all the frustration, the technician ended up braking the existing panel when he removed it, we told him to put panel back after he told us everything needed replacement, we told him we wouldn't be using ADT, we now have a brand new touch screen panel that is broken and has tape on it thanks to the incompetent technician, an alarm system that is still activated with the old owners who do not know what is going on, fire department coming out for false alarms, cameras outside and inside the house that can be accessed by strangers (huge privacy violation) and what are we being told? Nothing can be done about it. They are liars and scammers and it is beyond comprehension how on Earth this company is still in business! How are they not being sued for so much dishonesty by the vast majority of their customers? At this point we are so infuriated that this is exactly what we want to do- hire a lawyer and sue them! read more

I've had service with ADT for years. When I moved to Huntsville, they made it very easy to transfer my services. Their scheduling time was a little longer than normal, but I think that's just because of COVID. They did come out and install everything I wanted and helped link my previous accounts so I could get my old contract terminated without a fee since I started a new one here. They also give military discounts, so we've appreciated that .I'm happy with my service so far and it's been about 3 months since install. read more

Bought a new home, fell for the door to door salesman that was selling ADT thru SafeHaven Security. Paid for all equipment at installation (way overpriced). The contract makes you a slave to SafeHaven for the first year and to ADT for two years following. Just short of the first year I called SafeHaven to get a quote for new window sensors, standard version not the shock sensors. SafeHaven wanted $150/ea for the same sensors Amazon has for $50. Waited till the first year ended and called ADT. ADT wanted $75/ea. Then I decided to buy on Amazon and do it myself. Turns out SafeHaven changes the default Dealer and Installer code on your panel, doesn't provide the new code at installation, and refuses to give it to you afterwards. I called ADT who said they do not have the codes. WTF? So now I have an overpriced security system that I can't make any changes to! Do yourself a favor and go with a DIY system! Update: Sent an email to the address ADT Customer service posted. Was told the same thing again, since I purchased the system from SafeHaven I would have to get the codes from them, which SafeHaven said they WILL NOT provide. I truly hope this review saves at least a few people from making the mistake I made of getting a security system from SafeHaven and ADT! read more

Agreed to have monitoring set up through Safe Haven with my new home build. However, I cancelled everything during the physical appointment. Instead of finding solutions for my simple and clearly explained needs, the sales rep tried the old cliché tricks of trying to instill fear to sell me an 8000 dollar package that I repeatedly said I didn't want--and actually refused to stop the sales script and told me I HAVE to listen to his whole presentation for his own protection. WTH? Horrible first impression and I'm pretty sure I dodged a bullet by cancelling everything before a contract was signed. I had ADT years ago and remember the professionalism and responsiveness, but I guess their vibe in the Huntsville region now is more like sleazy aggressive used car salesman. Also, the equipment they offer is all 3 to 4x the price of comparable items on Amazon, and the monthly "special rate" I was offered through their deal with the home builder is actually higher than the prices listed on their website for new customers. read more

Update; So I can use this system with another service or connect it to wifi so I can self monitor? After your contract is over ADT will lock down your system, meaning that you cannot get another service nor can you self monitor. There is a master code that unlocks your system even its in the armed state. Meaning if a tech quits and knows that you have nice stuff they can come and rob you with full access to your home. If i would have known this i would have never spent my money on this system. read more

I wish there was a way to give zero stars for this company. This has been by far the most unresponsive, unreliable, most unprofessional business I have dealt with in a long time. From day one of the install when we purchased our house it was the worst install ever, leaving a big gaping hole in our wall that despite multiple calls was never taken care of. I finally patched and repaired and painted the wall myself. Now, after my three year contract is finally up and I have canceled service, I'm being charged for 30 days of service past cancellation date despite being told by the representative that I spoke to on the day that I canceled that I would incur no further billing or charges beyond that date. So, after another nearly $100 in charges five days later when I called in to speak to someone about it I spent over an hour on chat and phone trying to talk to representatives who, first of all, would not let me speak to a supervisor directly. And they absolutely would not back down from the charges whatsoever, even though it was their mistake due to bad info from the rep I originally spoke with at time of cancellation. I was never allowed to speak with a supervisor. I absolutely do not recommend this company and their statement that they value their customers above all is a joke. read more

I am a new ADT customer and so far I like the way our system works. HOWEVER, their customer service STINKS! I forgot my system password and requested it be sent to me. The only available option they offered me is to mail it to me (snail mail). My first request on August 19 was "misplaced" and they basically called me a liar because there's no way one of their personnel would tell me it takes "THREE TO FIVE BUSINESS DAYS" to mail it to me. So after a one week delay(not my fault) I am now told it will be another "FIVE TO TEN BUSINESS DAYS" to mail me a letter. I can envision their outgoing mail room filled with Gregorian monks sitting at their desks manually writing letters in cursive characters of ink carefully transferred to rolls of papyrus. So I am looking at 16 DAYS (6 + 10) Maximum for ADT to mail a letter. Any other company would be happy to send a letter by overnight FEDEX. They refused my request to do so. They could not even confirm that the letter had been mailed. They could only confirm that my mailing address was correct and the "FIVE TO TEN DAYS" ra If you have any thoughts of doing business with ADT, be very careful. But there's no need to explain your security procedures to me. Words are nice, but I don't read any words of action, either promised or actually performed. Actions produce results. Tell me when the letter will be mailed. Tell me that it has already been mailed. Security procedures won't dictate the US Postal system is preferred over an overnight mailing of my letter via FedEx. Your reply is empty of any meaningful actions that will satisfy my simple request. Your stalling is wasting my time and yours. Why does it take over two weeks to mail a simple letter??? I am not impressed with your lack of action thus far and will continue to enlighten social media of your very poor customer relations procedures. P.S. It's not often that you get such great customer service, especially in the middle of the night. When I called ADT at 3:51am, I was greeted by the calm, reassuring voice of Rachel. She very patiently and calmly walked me through how to turn the power off to my alarm system. Her directions were clear and precise. When the annoying chirping sound continued, she helped me to figure out that the problem was with a smoke detector that was not associated with the ADT alarm system. All I can say is thank you Rachel for the being there to answer my call. You are the perfect person for this job! read more

I had 3 cameras installed and I didn't like they, they were really blurry and couldn't even see anyone's face or what's laying in a ground. I called ADT to remove them and they were fine with it. They sent a tech to remove them and said you will be refunded. They never refunded the money, I called them 5 times and their answer is "So sorry to hear that we will take care of this right away". Which they do and next day the balance comes right back on. Is this some kind of joke? I did this about 5 times. Also every time I called they also mention that the local adt manager never responded to their request on if he had send a tech to remove cameras and see if he has the cameras. This is 7th time calling adt and they said same thing again that the local manager never responded to them. This review is for Safe Haven: Just another company that the sales folks will tell you anything to get you to sign up. They told me that if something were to happen financially I could cancel up to 6 months, which was the only reason I ended up signing up. Well, when I went to collect on that after losing my job due to Covid, there is mysteriously no such policy, the sales woman hasn't answered about 20 of my phone calls, and management blows me off because they're "not responsible for what the sales folks say". Not to mention they said they would remove all of my old Brinks equipment when they did the install. Instead, they just added all the new stuff now I have equipment everywhere and I can't get anyone to come remove it. read more

This review is in regards to ADT as a company and not a particular location although, the local Huntsville sales person (won't name names) should have been more forth coming with the fine print of the contract. This is probably the worst company I have ever dealt with as far as customer service and caring about its customer's satisfaction. Long story short, they auto debited my account roughly $1500 without permission and then continued to bill me my monthly contract amount after I canceled my service. When I called to inquire about what was happening they claimed they couldn't find my account. Once they did find it after being on hold 45 minutes several different times, I was told that the $1500 was the balance on the equipment and I should ask the buyers of my home if they want to reimburse me since they will now be using it. All this after I had already been told by another service rep that I should get reimbursed once the new owners take over the account. Basically each person I spoke with had a different answer. No one knows what they are doing and it's a typical large company that takes advantage of people. read more

My system only worked for 15 days and then went off line It isn't being monitored but I still have to pay the monthly Fee even through they can't get their system to work properly. This is the sixth time since March that ADT techs have come to my house. Every time they have a different story about what's wrong. And every Tech blames the other. Basically poorly trained, not knowledgeable, and unreliable service. This last time is the icing on the cake. The front doorbell (that is part of my contract) is heating so badly that's it's HOT to the touch and hence the doorbell and camera DO NOT WORK. Tech here this a.m. said it's an electrical problem. I need more volts. How would I know that. That should have been the installer's responsibility to let me know that it was not feasible to install a DOORBELL...I'am so turned off by one incident after another. I want this junk taken out..BUT NOT. YA CAN'T YOU ARE STUCK. SO now they don't want to pay for electrician and will swap out a camera for a doorbell..Hence violating the contract with ME...BEWARE...do not sign up. Go to Best Buy, Harbor Freight, whatever and get a better, more reliable system with NO MONTHLY FEES ...and then you don't argue uselessly with unreliable service DON'T DO IT. read more

ADT is the best security provider out there. We have always used ADT. When we moved, we began using a different service. It was incomparable to ADT, so we switched back. I will say however, I am not extremely content with the automated system that answers calls. My alarm went off and simply would not turn off; I called the ADT number and the process to actually get help was very long. Even after pressing "1" to call the emergency line, an automated system continued to reply. That's the only real problem I have had. Otherwise, great service. read more
