Here's I want to share my disappointing experience with the Salvation Army store. Over time, I have…read morespent thousands of dollars at this location, supporting their mission and purchasing items. However, despite being a loyal customer, I have been treated with disrespect and hostility by staff. Issues I've encountered: Items being resold unfairly. Being labeled a "nuisance". Staff smiling in your face, then turning rude, irate, and dismissive. Being told, "If you don't like it, you can leave." No paying customer--let alone one who has supported this store significantly--should be treated this way. If this is how they operate, they should reconsider their approach to customer service.

This, of course, delighted the NMA who howled with laughter as he showed it to me via the magic of FaceTime. Fortunately we ladies are resourceful. I had some clothing I tossed in a tote bag last minute "just in case it got cold", others leant me a few items. I admit though I wasn't wholly sad to go buy clothes, because it meant a trip to a thrift store. I love thrift. Thanks to this wonderful Yelp community and my handy-dandy Yelp app we located this Salvation Army thrift store in downtown Bloomsburg. There isn't a Salvation Army Thrift near me so this was the very first store I've been to from this organization. Parking was street, meters, not challenging though to find a spot in front. The store looks like a charity thrift store, which is really promising. Stores that look like boutiques or retail locations also generally have pricing to reflect the 'upscale' impression. Not totally unusual in those stores to see clothing priced above what it was when it was new. Right. This was well organized, rows and rows of clothing, signage on each row with category. There were also decor and home goods and such. My quest though was to find clothes. Jackpot! Got a really great pair of leggings, black stretchy pants with PoCkETs, a lovely dressy Dana Buchman knit scalloped top that I could not resist I don't care if it's hand wash and block dry and a cool pullover top. I lightly cruised the home goods and found an awesome little carved horse that I have on my desk. The staff at checkout were super nice and friendly, I unwittingly had a few sale 1/2 price items bonus and I walked out with cool stuff for $11. This store is OG thrift, roots thrift, classic thrift and I love it for that. They're about filling a need in our community, not maximizing profit that goes to "programs". I'm down with that. I'd visit again when in the area and would choose to go to another of these stores when I come across. *Note: The Air B &.B we stayed at had a washer and dryer, which was used before wearing anything. Always wash your purchase. One of my friends also got some scores in clothing at the store, pants for her work that she needed for like $1 each. She was thrilled. Always wash your thrift items, even New With Tag. Pro tip.

I saw the alst two shows Radiant Vermin and A Charlie Brown Christmas. They were incredible and so so so different from eachother. One was dark and super interesting and the other was liquid christmas joy onstage with kids. I did see the Christmas Carol that people are complaining about and its wild to leave a bad review because you didn't like one show they did. I don't think most people now how hard or expensive it is to make theater and they tried something new. It wasn't for me, but it did make me laugh and it was the actual story. My friend LOVED it and wouldn't shut up about how creative it was, so ya know, to each their own. Bloomsburg is lucky to have this in our community. SUPPORT LOCAL ARTS!

I was expecting a similar performance like in the past. The setup was so bizare and weirdly abstract. It would be better to just read the play out loud. I don't recommend the Christmas Carol by Amy Bryne to anyone. It's really bad. Many people walked out at intermission. Don't give away your tickets! Throw them away!!!!!!!!

Embark at the Poconos saved my daughter's life…read more After months and months of other programs (inpatient stays, PHP's, IOP, outpatient therapy...), with several ER visits and two attempts to take her own life, the team in the Poconos was able to reach into her heart and mind, past all the darkness and fear and lies she was telling herself to get her to see a sliver of the light and realize she WAS loved and WAS lovable. Her Dad and I and many other therapists tried to tell her and show her these things, but the combination of the house environment (the structure), the team members and the approach at Embark was what she needed to feel safe enough to open up. And when those flood gates opened, we all went on a ride to dark places but we needed to, and she was in a safe place to do so, mentally and physically. At the house, there were strict rules about sleep times, daily hygiene, chores, meal times, phone calls home, healthy food options, and school time, on top of the individual and family therapy. Therapy will look different for every child and family, but know that the staff is highly trained, approachable, compassionate, and will enforce a safe environment for all during sessions. outings were a fun way to reward the girls for their hard work. Medications were handled by a wonderful medical staff in a safe and consistent manner. Meals were prepared by an in-house chef. Life coaches monitored and supervised for everyone's safety. Expectations were clearly set upon arrival and consequences were upheld as needed. In addition to the Embark team counseling your child, they bring the family into therapy. Even after your child leaves the house, you have contact with the team and they do all they can to smoothly transition you into your next treatment program, whatever that may be. As past or current parents of children at Embark, we also get to meet virtually twice each month for a Parent Support Group. There is a community of families being beaten down by mental illness right now in our world, and most of the members are in hiding, ashamed and with no idea how to get help. THIS is one way to get help for your child and your family. You are not alone, you are loved, your are worthy, and IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT. Take that step. Trust. Heal.
