My mother and I went for a drive on the Blue Ridge yesterday. It started out as a typical drive…read moreuntil we found ourselves leading a parade. Apparently sime drivers wanted to go faster than the posted 45...which was what we were doing..and they were each driving very close to the car in front. We weren't in the same rush they were so my mother tried to find someplace to pull to the side so they may pass. Unfortunately she pulled over a tire killer pothole. Both front and back desperately flat. Well crap. Now what? Luckily we were able to get a phone call to AAA before the cloud cover came to negate service. We were in a fraught position as there really are no shoulders to pull over and we didn't want to cause any further damage by drivung on the rims (yep...that flat!) I volunteered to be the one to guide traffic so my mom could stay in the car to keep warm. Thankfully a parks service ranger came by and gave us some hazard triangles to use so I could warm up. We had to wait another 45 min until our 'savior' arrived. I have never been so happy to see a tow truck. We didnt want to be stuck on the Parkway all night. It was a tough tow for the driver as we were in a weird spot and the car was uneven but he got us on the truck. We asked if he would also take us and he said 'sure..no problem' which was a relief because AAA told us the tow would leave us. We asked him to put a mask on and he cheerfully obliged. He was super friendly and gave us a brief history of the area we were in. Turns out he and I had some shared experiences which just made the trip that much more agreeable. He got us to the tire place with no problems and only charged us $34 which seemed a great deal. He did leave a bit of a dent but considering it was a hard tow it was forgiveable. If you are ever in a bind near Meadows of Dan cheer up, Jolly's will come like knights of old to the rescue!

Our car blew out the hose from the radiator and Jarred with Jolly's Classic Towing came and picked us up. This guy and this towing company is tops!! I will never forget the way they helped us in our time of need. Never once did anyone complain. We only waited 20 minutes for him to arrive. Thank you from the bottom of our heart.

On Wednesday, August 31st, my wife and I were headed off to the Easyriders Rodeo in Chillicothe…read moreOhio when our truck (pulling a trailer with a golf cart on it) broke down on the interstate. We called our insurance company and asked about roadside service. They said they'd get a tow truck to us. Well, we waited on the side of the road for 5 1/2 hours before they showed up. But that's a different review. But I wanted to set the stage regarding our urgency to get moving again. The trip should have taken us 6-7 hours. So finally, after the tow arrived we were on our way. They pulled us up in front of an establishment and we went inside to see about repairs and time. We were told it would be Monday (the day the rodeo ends) before they could look at it. Oh, the deflated hearts were terrible. Then someone showed up in the parking lot and we were sharing our story with them. They said, well, we're pretty slammed too, but let's get it down to our shop and we'll take a look. These men were from Straight Arrow Transmission just down the way on the other side of the parking area. They even got their own vehicle to pull the now disconnected trailer and golfl cart there too. After some diagnostic work, they suspected the coil was bad. Odd, because I'd replaced it a few months earlier. But, as it turns out they actually had a same model donor vehicle right there. So they pulled the coil from that vehicle and put it in mine to test. Sure enough, it fired right up. Then they contacted their vendor and had them deliver a brand new coil. When it arrived, they installed it and checked the truck out. All was great! Total time onsite was just under an hour. You don't often find folks who will stop what they're doing to help a traveler. But these folks did. They did it fast, they did it right and with laughs and smiles. This is the kind of stuff you look for when needing professional mechanical help. Great job guys! Sorry it took me so long to get this review.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS GARAGE TO MY WORST ENEMY…read more June of this year (2023), I had a wheel come off while I was driving down the interstate. I lice out of state and they were the closest garage. the sheriff of the county highly recommended them. I heard nothing for 2 months. so I began calling for updates. I was told It needed new lug-nuts and a new wheel because it was bent but they could not find one. I called once every two weeks after that as I could not work without my vehicle. each time I called after the first call, I was met with a woman that huffed and sighed every time she heard my name and that I was still calling. she continually cut me off and spoke over me as well as my fiancé 4 months later (October), I called and she yelled over me it wasn't done and they couldn't find a wheel and that I could pick it up without it being finished. even though I was told it was undrivable. She said I could drive it fine with a bent wheel. just that I would need to torque my wheels every 100 MILES. No one is gonna wanna do that. so I contacted my local garage and they set it up to be towed. today, nearly 5 months later, they found my car dead dead in the lot beside their shop with lug nuts still missing and my battery drained. Seth, the mechanic laughed at this and slammed my keys down on the counter and tried to charge me a holding fee after I was told I would not have one. and began to raise his tone and talk over me when I said it was missing lug nuts. my mechanic picked my car up and said he found a wheel in no time and I also easily found multiple wheel replacements local to hillsville. I was also informed that it in fact was NOT safe to drive in the condition they said it was safe to drive in and that I was liable to WRECK. I was without my car almost 5 months and treated with such disrespect and my car was left in a field to drain and not be prioritized.

I was traveling from Savannah, GA to Upstate NY with my family. My car only had 52k miles on it…read morewhen the tachometer started going nuts on Interstate 77. The needle went from 2k RPMs to 7k RPMs so fast and was dancing around continuously for miles. It was revving so fast out of nowhere and I could tell something was wrong with my engine. Got off an exit to get gas and check and could immediately smell the clutch burning. The gas station attendant told me about Bert's, which was luckily only 1 mile down the road, so I didn't need a tow. Came into Bert's stressed and tired and the staff was great. I needed a replacement clutch and the part had to be ordered special from Winston Salem. It was an extremely stressful situation, as I had a baby and a dog with me, so much cargo strapped to the roof and we had to be strategic with what we needed from our luggage cargo (baby needs, dog, clothes, food) to spent a day in the local motel. They ordered the part and the guys gave us a ride to and from Motel 6 while they waited for the part and repair. It was a pricey job but the staff was great and the transportation help was so nice of them. Thank god they were at the exit I pulled off on. This garage seems like they deal with these situations all the time, being right off a major interstate. We made the best of a cruddy situation and it only added one extra day to our trip home. Highlight recommend.
