The best auto parts store... if you have a humiliation fetish. When I picked up the OBD2 scanner I purchased online, the employee looked me straight in the eye and said, "Just so you know, we don't take returns on electronics. You'll have to go through the manufacturer's warranty if anything goes wrong." When I got home, I opened the box to find the display covered in scuff marks, and when I powered it on, nothing but a white screen riddled with scan lines. While traveling to Maryland, I stopped by another Advance Auto and told them what happened, then asked if I could exchange the tool for a new one. They happily obliged and even switched the same batteries over from the "defective" unit. Works like a charm, no thanks to this location in Queens. Take your money elsewhere. read more

I was not sure if I needed a new battery or a rebuilt alternator as I wanted to save time before my buddy Mechanic met me at my garage. Thankfully the manager at advance auto parts in queens told me as Long as the battery or alternator is not install or disinstall (is that a word ) I can return either one for refund or credit .Great news it was the battery and a simple job and instead of refund I got a bunch of car accessories totaling almost 200 bucks which was price of alternator, YOU can never have enough antifreeze , motor oil. Flares, replacement belts , bulbs , etc. Overall a good auto parts store will a good inventory of car parts and accessories with workers who know car parts . read more

Used to be good but I think they have new workers there. I went today to buy somethings and my car's engine light came on. I asked them if they had a OBII reader I can borrow to read the code and they didn't have one. They said I could buy one if I want. Mind you, this is a long standing company policy that they check things for you like car battery, wipers, etc. Also they advertise this in their commercials. I'm hard pressed to believe that they don't have an OBII reader. read more

Super creepy place now! Used them occasionally for years w no issues. Saturday I needed a jump and discovered my battery almost four yrs old. With my mechanic closed I headed here. While they check my battery I start reading all the bad recent reviews in the waiting room, yikes. They show me a "receipt" showing battery failed so I let them replace it, not trusting but knowing I was about due for that. After they change it they tell me I also need a new alternator because that now failed - and get this - if I don't approve I won't get any warranty on the battery. Shows me another "receipt" showing battery now good but starting system failed. What?!! He's trying to scare me that if battery dies in a week or month etc I'll be stuck. SO sketchy. Paid and left. My mechanic just confirmed my alternator and starter are both fine. I wish I waited till Monday to give my mechanic the biz but didn't want to risk getting stuck again. read more

Walked in and got my replacement bulb, yeah $32 It's expensive but in a emergency, you pay for it. HONESTLY FUCK THIS PLACE. DONT SPEND A FUCKING PENNY AT THIS PLACE. I came in to buy a car battery and the free installation that came in with it. When I asked the asst manager lady (middle aged indian lady) in front she gave me this look like I was asking for her kidney. She then turned to the guy at the counter to see his reaction as if it was a joke. She then told me to pull my car in front of the store, which I did. She opened the hood and was looking for any excuse not to install it. She said shes not going to do it and I asked why. She said simply she didnt want to and its only a courtesy. If thats the case, no problem, but put that shit on your fucking sign. I bought the battery and the guys at Pep Boy changed it in 15 minutes for FREE. Class Acts. I offered to buy them lunch and coffee but they refused. How this place is still in business baffles me? Terrible customer service. Walked in the store and it felt empty and i realized it was because the two employees were hiding in the isles playing on there phones. I then continued to help myself and then a gentleman came out the back and greeted me. He seemed busy so I did not ask for help, what impressed me was that he noticed the confused look on my face and asked if i needed help. He then helped me find what i needed and instructed another employee to cash me out, the other employee seemed annoyed and replied "Yes boss" he really looked like he did not want to be there. Wow. The assistant manager Vienney is incredibly rude and unprofessional. She certainly does not belong in any sort of customer service. I ordered two fuel pumps for my car, it uses two in tandem, which ended up going bad within 3 weeks. I went to order the replacements/return and she was incredibly rude during the transaction, but not enough for me to complain. When I went to pick them up she had actually ordered two of the same side, so we took them back to get the correct part. She refused to admit her mistake and yelled at us. Then when we told her that we would call corporate, she yelled that no one does that and nothing would happen to her. Other employees have told me on numerous occasions that she is always this way and requested that we make a formal complaint, so we did. I will raise this rating to 4 stars when this is appropriately addressed. I will say that every other person that I have interacted with has been very helpful and kind. read more

This is not related to products in the store but to customer service in general. I had an appointment this morning at Pep Boys which is next door. There was a delivery man with a very large load of products in the Pep Boys driveway. He was blocking almost the entire driveway. He signaled me to go around only for me to find there were less than 6 inches of driveway and a high curb. I could not get around. Because I know the place I was able to go around several blocks to get in through what is the exit to the Pep Boys lot. I found out that the delivery was for AAP and I should speak to Dan. Dan was not in. At first Fred could not understand who Dan was. Then he told me Dan wasn't in. I asked him about the delivery blocking and he acted as if he didn't know what a delivery was. I am sure that AAP has many regular deliveries, so that was a surprise. There is no logical reason for AAP not to find another way to unload deliveries and no logical reason why they should be blocking any driveway, which I believe is, most likely, a regular occurrence. I was at Pep Boys, including the 8-10 minutes to go around about 20 minutes; so when I left he was still there and was not even near finishing. read more

This Adv Auto Parts has a very unfriendly staff; namely, Kamal who (is mean-spirited and) refused a simple exchange of an item sighting that was opened and pointed me to the door. I'm cool with the policy for people taking advantage but in my case, it was just a 5 dollar vacuum line that was quickly exchanged with no questions asked at a GOOD Adv Auto Parts in Middle Village a few miles away. The fact that my loyalty and patronage to Advanced Auto was disgustingly rejected makes me never want to spend another dollar there ever again. Employees like this are awful for business. read more

Cut to a half hour later, after multiple promises that the car was moved but wasn't, & now this employee is arguing with me about their car blocking me and how I have to continue to wait. Ugh! Went in to buy an item. Guy named Kamal was at the computer helping another customer, so I went to see if I could find it myself. Couldn't find what I was looking for so I came back to Kamal, who was not with the customer anymore. As I approached him, you would think the natural reaction is to acknowledge the customer. This guy has his head leaning on his hand and doesn't even bother to make eye contact. I ask "do you have a minute?" Cuz God forbid I have to bother you while you're working Kamal. I ask him if he can find my item, and with his lackluster attitude types up what I'm looking for. Felt like I was at the dmv. As he goes to find it on the top shelf and hand it to me behind his head, I ask him "do I pay with you or the other guy?". He responds with you can pay with me. So I hand him the item and he just tosses it on the counter, picks it up to scan it, then flops it back onto the counter instead of handing it to me. This douchebag is that skell that would spit in your burger. Poor people skills. Unknown how he got hired in the first place. If you hate your job then quit. read more

I have gone to this Advanced Auto Parts multiple times before, but never had asked for assistance or taken advantage of their installation services. I had a battery suddenly die on me and instead of going to the dealership I decided to take a shot with Advanced. I ordered the battery online and when I got to the store he took all my information and brought me the battery. Though never once did he ask or mention about installation or his soon lack of. So when we wrapped up I had commented about the installation. His response was it was too late. Though when you read the post from the website no where does it say that there is a cutoff time. I told him to not offer services they can not do and he then stated I come tomorrow. Keep in mind my battery was completely dead, I had to jump start it to get to the store. He also refers to himself as "Fred" as I asked for his name. But on the receipt it is Fereydoon. He was also extremely disrespectful to a customer ahead of me who was asking about window washer fluid and about the rebate he could do. Fred simply told the customer "everything is on the receipt" how one does the rebate. He is rude and in my honest opinion should not be in retail (especially do it yourself) if that is the way he treats customers. read more

came in here to do a warranty exchange on a radiator that had broken down a year after purchasing it. i was greated by a middle aged woman who had a bad attitude and looked like she had no intrest in helping me out (vianney was the name written on the shirt). she made it seem like i was an inconvenience to her. after rudley preaching to me about being organized since i had lost my reciept, she had trouble finding the transaction information and when an employee came to help her she rudley sent him outside to help a different customer. after finding the transaction on her computer she began to enter and process it. while she was doing that her personal phone was ringing and she answerd her cellphone while helping me out, she then stopped the same employee she sent outside with a different customer, to finish processing the transaction while she took her personal call to the back of the store (i could hear her, the call was personal not business related). i was always a satisfied customer until this event had occured. if you want satisfied customers advance, dont hire lazy employees with no intrest in there job read more
